FE7 is actually Larum's fanfiction and Ninian is her self insert relationship Mary Sue

Yeah, I mostly agree here. Fe7 is an extremely low-risk, mediocre experience that feels so messily tacked on to the world that fe6 set up. I used to really like it actually, but the more I play it the more I get sick of it. One thing I will disagree on, though, is the characters. The game has some banger support conversations that really make them better imo. Renault's come to mind.

I think the story from the beginning of Lyn mode up till dragon's gate is actually pretty good. It's a bit generic, no doubt about that, but to me it feels generic in an almost elegant way. I think the characters are easy to root for and get emotionally invested in, and the mystery and rising tension really pulled me in the first time I played. But after dragon's gate there's really not much good you can say about the story.

Fire Emblem is the most Fire Emblem of Fire Emblem games.
It's fine, it's a solid game, but compared to other FE games it can come off as bland or generic. It's near heresy to say out loud but it's the closest game to Birthright in terms of being the most generic of a trilogy.
FE7 was the 5th FE game I played, after PoR, SS, RD and SD. I enjoyed it, but it wasn't super memorable for me. My only real memories are of me finally going through HHM on a school choir trip and one of my friends asking why I was using Wil instead of Rebecca because "she always turns out better."
FE7 really gets better when you have a challenge run going, because then the map gimmicks and quirks really stand out, otherwise you literally can just Javelin the whole game and are encouraged to do so because of the sheer number of 2-range enemies in every chapter.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on FE7. We really need to talk or collab sometime.

I find it pretty boring too, i think the game gets better on Hector mode but i never got that far, i have tried many times to beat eliwood's story but I always drop the game eventually.

Honestly would not be surprised if you played Hector mode and felt exactly the same way, it's not nearly as different from Eliwood mode as you'd think it would be/it should be.

The issue with fe7 is that it's the game of completion, you have a trinity of lords and they don't intersect and meet up appropriately, lyn mode Should immediately lead you into hector mode and hector should lead you directly into eliwood mode, it's hard to really appreciate the game without experiencing everything it has to offer all at once, the way the maps and story transfer isn't cohesive which removes the immersion, not to mention Lyn's mode Should have the tutorial as an option and have had hard mode adjustments immediately available. Hectors route doesn't take you through his territory accurately, like Lyn's story does it's why it lacks the same feel fe4 does, anyone who loves this game experienced everything it has to offer they love it for no other reason than totalitarian completion. What makes eliwood exciting is his interactions with others, which is why having the rest of the cast not interact with him and intersect with him appropriately makes him boring not to mention how long supports take removes immersion from his character, he's prince Leif with failed execution non of his advisor conversations are shown without supports same applies to his rivalry with hector, it's just great ingredients with a bad recipe.

I never started with FE7, like, it's not my first FE game. But even I thought it was mid at best. I've always find Sacred Stones a better game and more fun one to play as well.

I do like Lyns mode a lot, but on the whole, I tend to find FE7 fairly dull. Not bad, just... a perfectly average FE game with no hook to grab you. As vanilla as FE comes. The weakest of the three GBA entries IMO.
You're gonna hate, however, that that is ALSO how I describe FE9 haha.

  • @Marz776
    @Marz776 Год назад +1

The easy in FE7 isn't like the easy in FE9, FE11 or FE4, you need nothing, not even FE experience to break FE7 to It's core, no map planning, no thinking your moves more than once, you can't really learn a way or change something about how you play to make it stupidly easy. In FE9 you have Marcia carry or even Jill carry, FE11 you have to know about warp and how absurd shiida is at killing bosses and in FE4 you just have to know how to route a big map to get the tasks done quickly. Idk, in FE7 you don't develop a new skill by playing that belps you on the replays, like FE6 abuse Rutger in the beginning, FE5 use the abaurd amount of support bonus that Leif gives and the fact that he's good and can use pretty well most of the game's resources to give him a little uppie to be actually useful... Idk, that's how I see FE7 compared to other FE games

I played FE7 4th after FE10, 8 & 9. I wouldn't rate FE7 bottom tier, but I agree with your points. FE7 is the most Fire Emblem of Fire Emblem games to the point where it is just kinda... there? It's most memorable for having absolutely nothing memorable about it. Nothing about it is the best, but nothing about it is really the worst either(except the story, that shit is garbage). The best parts about it are more about GBA emblem in general rather than due to FE7. The worst parts about it drag down FE6 with pointless connections and plotholes. I don't hate playing it, but I also never get an itch to play it either. My most enjoyable times playing it have been speedrunning/racing, which says a lot that the game becomes much more enjoyable when a good portion of it is skipped. -I will say that Eliwood is my favorite FE7 lord though. More due to him not feeling like he is trying too hard to be 'different' like the other two often do, than due to his own merits.-

We all tick from different things. The great part about Fire Emblem is that each game feels incredibly different to whoever plays each one. Two people could love the series equally but hate and love opposite entries.

Map objectives that dont incentivize active play, bland soundtrack, a low effort low risk story that barely connects with what fe6 tried to build, homogenous unit feel, characters that i dont connect with/dont find compelling at all, 1-2 range is op and the game is mechanically very shallow
What else did you want me to say?

@@ElutPesto those r all great points. And uve done a good job with the video. It's just in a vid I'd prefer more detail on what low risk means to u, specific maps and scenarios. To give an example here's a vid that came out a few days ago that exemplifies what I mean: ruclips.net/video/9V0ifDWZoJQ/видео.html

@@glen1742 i understand what you mean then now. By definition these are rant style videos that are meant to place each entry on a tier list. Its not necessarily meant to convince anybody of anything, they are just my thoughts in a pure form. The reason i do them long form is because if i did a one off tier list video id have much less time for each game. I do other videos more in depth when the goal is to teach something or really analyze, but here the goal is slightly different.
