Abandoned 1960's Water Park

- Located in one of the most unusual places for a Water Park sits a place that originally started back in the 1960s. Lasting all the way until the mid 2000's, this place finally saw its demise when items from the park were auctioned off. Some things still remain and the for sale property still hangs below the original sign. The owner of the property is still in the process of dismantling it and its future is unknown. So come along with me as we take an up close and personal look at this once thriving Water park. Enjoy

So sad to see someone's hard work falling into disrepair and for all of the great times those that went there.Thank you for sharing!!
Things never last, but it had a good run.
Hi jp it has been a while the water park must have quite an attraction in its time. I hope to see more tours in the future Stephen h
You're so right..
@@JPVideos81 where was this?

It’s always rough seeing the older mom & pop attractions that didn’t make it, but in their operational years, they made great memories for the people that visited them...✌🏻
Agree 100%
As long as it was safe and a reasonable price...I'd actually RATHER go to a smaller place like this instead of a huge, crowded park. Places like this have certain charm to them.
I agree. I rather go here and not have to wait in long lines. Id be in that lazy river all day.
Abandoned pools have something eerie about them. But at the same time it’s also exciting to imagine them filled happy people, happy families, enjoying a day out at the water park.
The music goes very well with the drone footage, very cinematic!
Concrete slides ....rougher than a corn cob....gotta be tough on the ol' Speedo....lol! Loved this explore! 😊
Haha, I was thinking the same thing until i found out they used mats.
I've been looking at all these abandoned places in The States.. It's heartbreaking to see all the hard work people would put into these places in this kind of shape.
It’s amazing to see how broken down or how quickly the earth starts to reclaim the land after just 6 years.
I would go there, I hate big and large spots, this would be perfect for me. Your music at the end sounds like a Hans Zimmer piece. One of my favorite composers, why I mentioned.
Drone footage is always a great addition. Another great video
I think id like this place too. Little something for everyone and probably never really crowded.
There were some awesome figures there at one time. including animal figures, (rearing stallion, angus bull, a 55-inch rabbit, 2 carousel-type horses, and a dragon plus many others} It also had a 30 ft. Pirate called 'Peg Leg'. All were sold at auction. It looked like a real fun place years ago.
Yes, i saw the photos during research. Weird and random theme to it.
I would definitely go to a place like that. My kids would love it. I would rather go to that water park in a remote location than to be at some crowded amusement park and waiting in long lines. Excellent video!! You do a superb job of filming....
Id be right there with you. This looked like a fun place.
Wow!! My cousins lived right next to that place growing up...when I was a kid (in the 80’s) I’m pretty sure that place was still open. It’s nothing today what it was when I was a kid!!!
Everything looked bigger and more impressive as a kid.
I saw the Tonka truck as you walked past it, nice find
It looks like this has been a very nice place it’s a shame it’s s now abandoned 🙁
Hopefully whoever buys this property maintains it as a Water Park . All too often things that are in excellent condition are destroyed and houses or apartments are built in its place .
I hope this can be resuscitated as a Water Park .
Thanks for sharing this very interesting video as I said I hope they can bring it back as a Water Park .
I dont see it ever being a water park again. Lots of items were sold off and too much competition from neighboring parks.
JPVideos
🙁🙁. Yes competition from bigger and supposedly better water parks is a key issue but I liked the set up they had in your video - room enough to enjoy the water rides and much safer than today’s water parks .
Nice lil time capsule outta nowhere...the best kind!
I think if it had a reasonable price tag it is definitely a place I would frequent. I love water parks.
I like natures water parks lol
Love water parks, this one with drone view was great this was a cool explore Jay. Thank you for sharing 🙂👍🌷
Nice little place. Kinda outdated, but if affordable it would be nice to visit.
Yes it would Jay, hopefully someone will buy it & fix it back up.
I love that you were able to find & splice in footage from its hey-day! Awesome!!!!
Thankfully the owner of that footage gave me permission to use it.
Sure was a great place. Life is so busy. This would have been a great campground with an adventure. Thank you
What a great find! Waterparks, theme parks and malls are always the saddest for me to see them abandon. It's sad to see a place that held such joy, just abandon :-(
Its unfortunate when these small family owned places fall by the wayside. I rather this place than bigger, over popular parks.
You got to realize Jay, back in 2014 we were just coming out of a really crappy recession with a bad economy, and if new water parks had just went up... People are going to try out the new water park first. So I imagine after several years of a tough economy yeah I can understand why they closed. I don't think it would be too much to get it going again by the looks of it, I'm sure the insurance would kill you. Yeah it would be nice to get it going again, so yeah I would like to go, but I don't see that happening.
We used to have a really cool water park around here it kind of reminds me of but ours was a lot bigger, Wacky Waters in Davenport, Ia. Alongside I-80 at the end of Flying Js Truck Stop Road, When I was a kid I used to go at least once a year if I could... They're closed in the early 2000 timeframe. I miss it there's nothing left, used to be a lake, and it's even gone. I think all that's left is the tower for the slides, the fire department use it for training I believe. I still got to remember one of the 3 big slide, super high with a sudden drop, I can't remember how tall but it was wild! You wouldn't like it with your afraid of heights. Called The Bonsai, and you would scream Bonsai as you went down it! Miss that place.

ruclips.net/video/GO9hoOIMhMQ/видео.html
Be nice to see somebody get that place there and get it going again but yeah probably not going to happen.... You know, I think some of these water parks haven't quite figured it out when they're out in the country like that and they got plenty of Farmland aroun with a good water supply, grow some pumpkins in the spring on the fields around in the farmland, and kids have fun during the summer at the waterpark and then have a pumpkin patch in the fall. You can light it up and decorate it for Christmas, and have a visit with Santa at the North Pole, maybe some tubing down the Frozen slides for a wild ride....When you can extend your season you make always more money.... 😉👍
I miss wacky waters 😢 I had many fun memories made there.
Great idea Justin, shame no one thought of it, they certainly had the land to do it, sad😢
I went here every summer as a kid before the 1998 shut down and other than the few scrapes you were bound to get on certain slides it was SO fun.
I went to college near there, it was still in operation in the ‘80s. Must have drove by it a million times but never stopped.
I drove by in 2004 or so and it looked like it was still open.
According to the video, it closed in 2014.
I would definitely go to that place it’s quite large and looks very nice the waterslides look good yeah I’d come with my family.
I loved the drone footage - I got a much better idea of the size of this place - the foto montage was awesome - you have a video to look back on and remember how this place looked if in fact it is destroyed.
Love these abdoned videos. Thanks JP
the drone footage was a nice added feature! It looks like it was an affordable family place at one time. These new water park places are so expensive for people who have children.
From what i heard, it was rather pricey for a small outdated park.
I believe it was 12-15 dollars per person
Wow totally cool water park JP!!
Thanks Rochelle. Good to see it before its completely gone.
@@JPVideos81 I would for sure go there if it were still open!
I would go there & be floating on that lazy river. Those slides were so cool!! Your drone footage & montage were Amazing!! Colors really popped on this one. Loved it! 🥰 Be nice to see it restored. Guess those geese were telling you, lol. I know you love water Jay why not a dip in the pool why you were there? 😂🤣
Forgot my pool noodle lol
That is definitely a very well built, nicely constructed water park. I love that you, included the operational pictures. Even just walking around it, now that its abandoned, looks very nice. Fantastic video JP👍👍
It's a nice little place with something for everyone. Wish i got to experience it when it was open.
Good drone footage, shows the size of the park.
Ty jeni
The best type of water park is a flowing creek with some pools you can jump in.
Another good video, cute lazy river, shame it closed, hope you all are well stay safe and thanks again for taking us along.
Thanks, you too!
I stopped by there one time while it was open and in operation just to check prices and found out later it closed. The white look out tower in the back used to have a statue of a pirate on top holding a machete
I saw pictures of a pirate out front by the lazy river. How were prices?
JPVideos The prices were good cheap I can’t remember actual price been so long . I would have went it ended up closing later that summer. Great job on the video I live about 50 mins west from there
Wow ...the drone footaage at the end with beautiful music just about lolled me to sleep LOl...so peaceful . Glad you added the before pictures . ...lots of fun had there, once upon a time.Could still be a fun place, but they will have to hurry to save it. Afraid it will just sit there and what is not carted off will fall apart piece by piece ..sad to see. Thank you , Jay , for sharing fun times from yesteryear.
Its too late now. Many items gone and currently being dismantled. Hopefully the property will be used for something good.
Awesome explore Jay! Love your abandoned videos the most. The drone footage was fantastic as it really puts things in a perspective. Love smaller places like these as I have 3 kids and things get expensive quick. I could spend all day in that lazy river!!
Id be right there with ya in the lazy river lol
The people that own it also own the winery by there. They also own the land around the park. From what I read they weren't sure what they were going to do with it but had some ideas. None involved opening a water park again. Love the drone footage. Can see the layout and so much more. It was a nice little park at one time.
I found that out as well. That's why they are still working on dismantling it. But definitely wont ever be a water park again. The owner actually rolled up while we were there.
Was he in his golf cart? Lol😂
That was an awesome video JP! I loved the drone footage! As I was watching, I could just imagine all the families that were there having so much fun! I would have gone with my family for sure! Thank you for another great video!
Looked like a nice affordable place. Thanks for stopping by.
Years ago they had a ski slope. That place also floods poor drainage area.
Ahhh
Was it where the mini golf area is?
@@JPVideos81 just to the right still has light in the field.
You can still see it on Google Earth.
Itd be fun to buy and build a house on the property so you could have your own personal water park fun! Then who would care if you had to shelter in place....
That was be a fun and unique idea
JPVIDEOS good to see you here Gods Blessings to You and Your Whole Family Shalom Peace And Love enjoyed your videos Blessings 💕🔥✝️🙏🏾🕊☹️
Bet it was a cool little place back in the day! Thanks for showing us! ✌ Plenty of geese poop! 😂
Hey Jay...I really enjoy your videos! You pretty much cover everything and the drive chats are actually pretty fun! Being a newbie to your channel I can already tell your a great dad to Lilly and a good guy all around. I have several cats as well. We had fun chatting while you were in Walmart! Having said all that I would definitely go to this Waterpark. We had a place in my neighborhood called Wet Willie's which was atop a large rock cut cliff next to a major highway. Very special memories as it was torn down shortly after my High School Graduation in 1980. It's both cool and sad to see these abondoned structures but its educational to see things of yesteryear. As always thank you so much for providing us with a unique perspective of your videos. The Drone footage was awesome! In conclusion your respectfullness to not taking anything is just another example of the first class guy you are. I know you are planning down the road a route 66 video. Being from St. Louis, Mo. there are several venues on route 66. Ofcourse Jay I'm not trying to tell you what to include or where to go but, when We can get back out to a somewhat normal life I will send you some brochures and literature on some of what my area has to offer if you choose to come this far out! I love trains and have an extensive H O. Scale layout I started in 1978. Love trains and pretty much all your videos cover! I'm currently on sick leave due to Covid-19 but will be back to work June 1st. So your channel has meant a lot to me being stuck at home. Sorry for being long. A bad habit of mine! Stay safe and look forward to hopefully the fire chat and Chinese dinner!☮
Hey jeff, thanks for the awesome comment. I think of myself of an average ordinary guy who treats people the way they treat me. Im glad to hear you enjoy my varied content. Would love to see some photos or video of your ho layout. Thanks for stopping by and stay safe.
@@JPVideos81 I sent the photos of my model train layout to your Facebook Messanger. Hope you like them. Take care...
@@jeffgentle6497 i saw them, but didn't have a chance reply. You have a nice display. It's a labor of love and i love seeing how people personalize them. Thanks for sharing.
drone footage was great ..sad to see places like this going to ruin..thx for the video JP
Thanks bonnie
Thank you so much for the video! Breaks my heart to see old places like this abandoned. I can visually see the smile of the customers that visited this place when it was open.
Thanks for watching
Always like to support smaller local family run locations stors restaurants. So sorry to see.
The water Park you visited went out of business because they couldn't compete with Dorney Park and Wild Water Kingdom theme park just about 2 1/2 miles down the road from this park! The video is Great! It's documenting HISTORY!!! 😀😁😀
Correct. I stated that in the video. I prefer this over dorney.
Dorney is about 8 miles or a 12 minute drive to the east (depending on traffic or how fast you drive). 😉
We drive past here several times a year on our way to Bethlehem and Premise Maid Candies, it looks so creepy and sad😢 Thanks for an amazing tour, we really enjoyed it🙋
I thought it had been sold and I understood some things where auctioned off. One of the reasons it didn't survive in my opinion is due to Dorney park and wild water kingdom. Very close in proximity.
Want to add it was a very popular and fun place back in the day...
Awesome vid! I think those geese were kinda pissed at you! LOL
Love the lazy rivers... would love to find one you could just stay in for a while.
Camel Beach has a nice one and sometimes they let you do a few rounds if they aren't swamped.
Montage ski resort has a lazy river, but they have sprayers that rain down on you. But you can stay in as long as you want.
DUUUDE JP this video was sickkk! You the man!
Dont do these as often, but they still draw me in. Thanks for checking it out.
Very cool Jay,I saw this place in operation all the time while driving truck back in 2003-2007 was always telling my wife we should bring the kids..cant believe it was still going in 2014 impressive!!
Thanks for documenting buddy!!
Dont forget Mahanoy soon :)
I hear ya man. I always heard about it, but never got the chance to see it in person.
I think if it was close to were I lived and reasonably priced yes I would go there. But I think it was probably super awesome in the 60s and 70s. It's also in a bad location, but it looks like it would of been a fun place to go on a hot day.
It was in its prime before newer, larger water parks started popping up.
This place is in my neck of the woods sort of. I remember when this was a hoping place.
It's sad to see places disappear like this. I know a lot of people came through that water park since it open. They brought their children and their children children till it closed. I know they'll keep their memories alive of the park with pictures and videos. It's sad to see fun places go out like that. Where is this park anyway? And thank for your videos of showing places like this.
Southeast Pennsylvania
This is an interesting find because you wouldn't expect it there. This place is cool and I can only imagine it being the hang out spot in the summer for kids. It's so sad to see these small places close up. Very awesome!
One of the weirdest locations, but farm kids need to have fun too lol
The drone footage really popped!
Fun explore. I would go to this water park if the price was right(closer to home). Too bad about the location, I'm sure that in a different spot it would still be in business. Awesome addition of the drone footage Jay, gives a better perspective of size and layout of the park. Be safe 👍😷🖖
Thanks frank. These smaller family owned parks are slowly dying off.
IIve seen this park a million times as my daughter went to college at Kutztown up the road. Always facinated by it and wondered about it. Thanks for preserving it forever :) (and yes I would definitely love to have gone there. I dont like the big commercial places like Dorney)
Dorney is over rated and over priced. Thanks for checking it out.
So fun. You really crack me up when you sat on the slide and yelled whoooo. Thanks for the laugh JP.
Gotta use the ole imagination lol
@@JPVideos81 most definitely! 💯% Agreed. Something I hope our young ones do alot of while they are young. It goes pretty fast, I'm already 47.
This park looks like it would be a nice afternoon getaway! I personally would enjoy it, but i like the simple and fun. Unfortunately there aresomany bigger and more expensive places and that seems to be the draw for people now. Great video!
That's how I am with amusement parks. I like the less crazy old school parks. The biggest, tallest or spinniest rides dont impress me.
@@JPVideos81 exactly right...the atmosphere of the smaller parks is so much more engaging. Its not about what i can buy or how wild the ride, its about fun...fun not money!
I actually was the assistant manager and friends with the owners who bought it in 1998 from the original owner/builder. They ran it until approx. 2010. Then it was returned to the original owner being he held the bank loan. He tried to make a go of it again for a few years until he decided to retire and sold it. The name Terry Hill came from the original owners daughter"s name. During my time there a snow tubing track was put in and in the fall the place was renamed Terror Hill and turned in2 a haunted house/hayride attraction. The stories I could tell about all that went on in trying to make an antiquated water park a success! Some of the best times of my life.
Other people told me similar info, but never heard about the terror hill part. Thanks for sharing.
Please tell the stories
@@nightisright1873 So many stories and a lot that are "R" rated. I would advise you to read the excellent book "Action Park: Fast Times, Wild Rides and The Untold Story Of America's Most Dangerous Amusement Park" Terry Hill was just a fraction of the size of Action Park but a lot of the craziness discussed in this book took place on a smaller level at Terry Hill.
@@richardruhf5516 I have read it great book .Like wasn’t the back room of the wave pool used for hook ups
So Sad Alot of Memories will always be cherished there...
I love this was actually built by someone, it was their dream , it’s really cool 😎
Great job showing the park.
I remember going there one time. Only went in the pool though. The water slides had just been put in a couple of years before. It was reasonably priced. The whole place was very well kept up and clean. The place used to get rather busy. I remember going past there many many times. I remember the figures and animals. I actually remember this place before the slides were put in. Those slides looked like they had some speed to them when people went down them. There used to be a mobile home park next to the water park.
I love the lazy river.Nice footage and the footage from when it was opened. My favorite is the geese.Clever birds. Don't understand not draining the pools.
Those pools are definitely a hazard
Interesting place. I can almost feel my feet burning on the pavement waiting in line for the slides. My friends and I hung out at a similar place in Ohio growing up. I was so sad when it shut down. I’m sure there are lots of people who have great memories of this place from back in the day. Hey, the last time this place sold it was for $875,000 and now Zillow has it estimated at less than $400,000. It’s almost affordable 🤣. Let’s buy!
Yes. I call dibs on the lazy river haha
You talking about Dover Lake?
Mike Daugherty yes!
loved the drone footage and the photos are beautiful thanks for sharing 👍💙🦢
It's great that you include original images & footage. I find it eerie to see what once was. You did a nice job aligning them with your footage here because you obtained them after the event. Thank you for all your hard work.
Thanks!
If the place is for sale I wonder why the owners don’t keep it up so it looks better - If it was cleaned up and it looked like it was ready to go they would probably sell it pretty quickly.
There was an auction to sell off items. No longer viable as a water park.
This place could survive if it capitalized on its old time feel. Clean it up, add a nostalgic diner and ice cream shop. Has enough additional acreage for a drive-in theater screen. And add a 50's route 66 style motor lodge to stay overnight. If done right, it could be an overnight getaway gold mine.
You missed the truck in the slide
Yes I would have.
Great drone footage and Marvelous montage at the
End
Another awesome adventure... Thank you so much ⚫💙⚫Beautiful trees
Aww thanks Cassandra
Every time I’ve driven past this place while commuting I wondered what an up close look would be like and think about all the fun once had here. Thank you so much for this explore! It means more to me than you know 🤗
My pleasure
This place belongs to the geese now - it's Goose Paradise 🌈
I think it would've been nice to turn this into a park geared toward families with small kids. Add some thematic elements and make it a place suited for the younger kiddos to go toddle around and not get trampled by the big kids/teens.
I always love the drone footage. I would even like to see that on the abandoned buildings, so you can see the collapsed roofs from above.
Thanks! 👍👍👍
They used to have fiberglass figures of animals and pirates, but sold them at auction.
Jay did you ever hear of Menlo park in perkasie pa that was a nice place they still have a beautiful merry go round there which is open on hoiidays there was also a place called sleppy hollow near quakertown pa they had no rides but great shows like Tex Ritter eddy Arnold and so many more also rodeos I remember all I should I'm 81 it was like yesterday I love all your videos you are one of a kind.
I haven't heard of that one
JP, awesome and cool abandoned water park video! Really enjoyed the cool drone footage!
I love it when you fly your drone over the places you go! ❤️
Thanks sue. I need to bring it out more often.
I would for sure have taken my kids to such a place when they were small, if it was close by and reasonably priced. A really fun day trip without expensive long-distance travel, and it is the right size for kids, who are tired out after a few hours anyway. Watching this makes me think of how this place once echoed with the excited shouts and laughter of children, making memories that would last forever.
It's a shame that places like this dont survive.
Was probably a pretty cool place to go when it was still in operation....sad to see these small "mom and pop" places fall into such a state of decay 😪😪
Nonetheless very interesting to see what was...
Thanks for another great video and an interesting adventure 😀👍😊

Haha, i wouldn't to that far, but thanks for checking it out.
It must have been a nice place back in the day. Great drone video and pictures JP !
Small, but unique and affordable
Looked like it Was really a lot of fun once
I grew up only a couple miles from this park and spent my share of summer days there as a kid. But back when I was a kid going there it was strictly a swimming pool. That was before all the slides and other things were put there. From what I've heard is that the park and all the land that went with it was purchased by a local guy who owns a winery. According to my dad who lives about a mile away the guy bought it just for the land to grow grapes on for his winery and then just tried to sell the park. They had a public auction a couple years ago to try and sell everything they could and now what sits there is all that was left unsold. It's sad to see this part of my childhood sitting there like this. The original owner named it after his first daughter Terry, thus the name Terry Hill water Park. As a kid it was just called Terry Hill Swimming Pool. Located right aside of this is a mobile home park called.....you guessed it, Terry Hill Trailer Park.
And look at the name leaving the comment... Terry 😲
@@JPVideos81 Unfortunately it wasn't named after me. LOL.
It's sad that Dorney Park Wild Water Kingdom ended this place it was a cool place back in the day

How sad looks like a fun cute little park
It would be a fun place to go for an afternoon just to cool off and have a little fun. A picnic area would be a good addition. Yes, the drone footage was cool. Thanks for filming Jay

They also had a picnic area.
I bet it was beautiful in its hay days. I could almost here the laughter from children in my mind. Thank you for showing history.
You're welcome
Nice video. And great drone shots. They give us a better idea of the overall layout. It looks like it was a pretty decent water park in its day.
Quaint, yet good variety.
