@@ChrisInScotland Yep, he makes it very clear every time it gets brought up that he is no longer mad about it and totally doesn't think about it constantly.
"You're not even in this show!" always gets me 😂 You will already have seen it and know by now, but they film the studio in batches of 2 episodes per shoot day so Katy won't be in the next episode either.
Idk if it’s been confirmed on the podcast, but did Katy have COVID during this set of studios? It kind of lines up with the initial outbreak before the shutdown
You can probably tell, but Rose and Ed were/are really great friends outside of the show and regularly have board game nights and are in an escape room team together! Also when Rose was on the podcast with Ed, they both agreed they were like siblings but thought the other was the older sibling, and then had an argument about it, which I think pretty much sums up their vibe 😂
Using songs (and prayers) to time cooking has been done probably for thousands of years; certainly for hundreds. We have good records of it from mediaeval Europe.
I’m no fan of Gamble, but he would want you to know a couple of things. He wanted to move the line in the lasso task but he went first and Alex made him do it straight because it was a tiebreaker. David went second and it immediately became a main task. Ed’s prize task was originally a collection of David Spacey laser disks. Brass put their foot down and said no. Also, they are filmed two a day so, as you know, she wasn’t in the next episode. She did come back the next day, but in case she didn’t feel up to completing the day, Paul Chowdry was on standby in the green room.
the first time i watched david's attempt at the lasso task, i was literally in hysterics. like, uncontrollably laughing and crying at just how baffling the man is. such an iconic moment in the series. ed's delivery on "you're not even in this show!" is just magical. overall... i'm just remembering why i think this is my favourite season of tm, reliving it through your reactions. i'm very grateful for that.
Katy just talked on a podcast about the reason for her missing the episodes was that she had to have her gallbladder removed. She said the doctors thought she was delusional from the anaesthetic as she kept telling them she had to leave in order to be on TV that evening. Jo Brand (used to be a psychiatric nurse) looked at her pills and told her which ones to take before the show but Katy got confused and took the ones that apparently made her more "aggresive" than usual 😅
America's on your side in the lasso pronunciation debate, and we and you certainly know more about throwing rope in the untamed wilds than the Brits do. (We also join the rest of the English-speaking world with Roy G. Biv.) Very nice shirt of Donna from Cul-de-Sac as well.
Water torture is like a mental annoyance, it's not to hurt you but discomfort you, it's the idea of the ice bucket challenge but rather than instantly it takes 5 to 30 minutes.
taskmaster films 2 episodes a day so in instances like this katy wont be in this episode nor the next, you'll also see people have the same hair for 2 episodes in a row since its filmed on the same day
The massive difference with the Chinese water torture from other forms is the lack of predictability. If done properly, something very slowly dripping water doesn't do it at specified intervals. Some water drops are tiny but long and fall quick. Some water drops are fat and thick and take longer to finally fall. Not being able to predict the timing or the exact effect of the specific drop is what makes it more torturous than other similar torture forms. It's something the human brain is just not equipped to handle for extended periods of time.
In the UK Woolworths went out of business in 2009 for physical stores and in 2015 for online shopping. So it's the shop that's defunct and not the voucher
The water hangs from a certain distance above you dripping on your head with the same speed for I don't know how long, but eventually it will break down the surface what it is hitting. In this case your scalp then the bone and then it hits your brain, but in the meantime you'll feel all the pain of the dripping slowly every few second another drop for minutes maybe hours
It allegedly also stops the person sleeping and resting, so psychosis sets in pretty quickly too, according to Adam Savage (from Mythbusters) a person contacted him anonymously to say that randomising the water droplet patterns, can cause a mental break in 20 hours....it's truly one of the most evil ways to harm a person.
@@AdamfromFWCI Not sure where this idea came from, but no, I don't think any torture method that relies on water boring through literal bone would have any practical usage in the real world considering how bloody long it'd take, haha. It's primarily a psychological thing. "Annoying" gets to be literally maddening under the right circumstances for prolonged periods. Think of solitary confinement. We already know that solitary confinement can result in pyschotic breaks. Water torture also typically has you fully (uncomfortably) restrained in total isolation with nothing to focus on or do except anticipating the next (painfully cold) drips of water for hour or days on end. It's like an itch you can't scratch. Might give you hypothermia, though. Supposedly it's worse with irregular drips because you can't predict them. People always tend to think that they could distract themselves with something, or come up with some game in their head to keep sane but science says otherwise. Most people believe themselves to have more control over their minds than they do. The human brain is more fickle than we like to believe.

The lasso task meant to be a tiebreaker task, but David's attempt was so fucking bizarre, Alex decided to make it a main task, rofl.
And Ed gamble is totally definitely absolutely not still mad he went first and Alex told him “it’s just a tie breaker, don’t move the line”

So the lasso task was originally a tie breaker task but because some of the attempts were so bad (david) they made it a full task
Yep, same as "Don't blink" was supposed to be a short tie breaker then Rhod Gilbert lost his mind and made ti a full task.
Whenever I am suffering from low self esteem, I watch David Baddiel try to lasso or break something and I feel a bit better about myself 😂

The podcast in question was Off Menu with Ed Gamble and James Acaster 😉

From what I've heard, the third season of Taskmaster: AU has been filmed, but there's still no word on when the second season will actually air
That task where they had to remember shit about the guy would have been an absolute nightmare to me
