Just get decants and go by the season. You can buy 4-5x different 10ml for like $60-75 and you are set for each season. Simple as that. I have 10ml decants of Tom Ford oud wood, ombre leather, Gucci Guilty Absolute, 1 million lucky, and By the Fireplace as my winter rotation.
This is truth. My bargain bin collection went from 3 scents to 30 in about 3 months. I'm hitting the wall with this hobby though, there is only so much you can wear
Great advice! So cool to see you talking about this. One thing is that in the UK, it’s better for your credit score to wait until the end of the month to pay of your credit card because the system then sees it and gives you points. But I agree that if someone can’t control their spending they should pay it right off.
I get it. I started watching these videos. You, Gents Scents, Jeremy. I was an old man guy. Drakkar Noir, original Polo, Original Eternity and Obsession. Thats it. I was very dated. I updated. In the last few months, I watched a ton of videos, researched, went to Ulta to find out what I liked. I purchased about 20 scents in a variety of styles for winter, summer, day, night, date, work, etc.. modern quality designer fragrences. But now I'm done. I didn't spend money I didn't have or couldn't afford. But I totally can see how people can let it get out of control.
From a guy who already sells fragrances online, this is awesome. You earned my respect brother. You are way better than Jeremy. Keep up the good work 😊
I have been watching fragrances videos for like 6 months now and you are the first that I have seen that talks about this topic. You earned a sub, good video dude
This video is right on time for me. I've started falling for that dopamine rush/instant gratification. Working on my mindset. My new goal is to work on using up what I have already. Empty out the bottles. I honestly believe a humble collection of 10-12 fragrances is all I need. We live and we grow. I agree with everything you said here. Lots of wisdom. Especially with the social media topic 😒. I found myself comparing and trying to keep up with others. It turned my innocent love into an obsession. But knowledge is power, and wisdon is the application of said knowledge. I'm thankful to have both now.
Hi Dallas, thanks for the advice dude. I just sold over $1000 worth of fragrances that I wasn’t even using. Was able to free up a lot of cash for Christmas presents and savings as well. Appreciate you taking the time to make this video, when you didn’t even have to. Thanks again!
I think the biggest thing for me is to not look for sales. I have bought most of my fragrances at 45 - 50% off. But I still feel bad about it at times. I need to stop looking for deals
Hello my name is Alan . Welcome Alan Is my first time here, I do have a online fragance shopping addiction but thanks to this group I have stayed strong and overcome , today I'm one paycheck clean.
I had this problem about 10 years ago when I first got into fragrances. I went crazy and bought about 40 fragrances in a year, many of which I blind bought based on reviews on YT and Basenotes. It was a big mistake because many of the popular fragrances back then on YT(rochas man, PR one million, Armani code EDT, JPG le male, etc..) to my nose in 2021 are outdated. The recommendations I got from Basenotes were horrific. I could tell most of the guys on that forum were in their 50s and 60s because no one in their 20s would wear fragrances they recommended. This is my second run at getting into the fragrance game and now I only focus on fresh/semi fresh scents(I live in LA and it doesn’t get cold here), that are versatile in all seasons, great compliment factors and can be worn day and night. I have a limit of 15 fragrances and if I want something new I will need to sell a fragrance. Another tip: Your fragrances are much easier to sell with the boxes. Keep them around.
There's a reason why it's relatively difficult to get samples. Very few companies sell single samples, if they sell samples at all it's usually in a set for which you have to pay a significant amount of money, even if you really wanted to try just one of their fragrances. If I sample a fragrance, most of the times I realise it's not worth it for me. They could sell 5-10 ml bottles, that's plenty to try the fragrance several times in different settings. But they so rarely do, even 30 ml bottles are no longer as available as they used to be. The companies want us to buy big and spend big.
I'm constantly torn between wanting one "signature scent" that everyone remembers me by, and the love of trying new fragrences and collecting the bottles. I've narrowed it down to 20, and I still feel like thats too many but there arnt any more I want to give up.
I really needed to hear this my collection is growing and so is my addiction. My solution is to get rid of all these fragrance reviews and get back to watching boxing/cage matches. I really appreciate how you brought this to my attention. Its been fun but I got to go....take care gonna miss you're reviews....Peace!!
Not going to lie, honesty is the best medicine. Truth is I am in a little credit card debt because of buying fragrances. Theres just so many I want, I particularly get carried away when I find a pre reformulated fragrance. I already have the fragrance but I tell myself it isn't good enough because its been reformulated. Y'all know what im saying?
The part about collecting that i enjoy the most (besides that first sniff of a new fragrance) is hunting down deals. I have pretty much blind bought everything i own(over 220 bottles) and i appreciate each one for what it is. Cheap or expensive, I love them all. Just love the hobby and community!
I have a LOT of respect for you for posting something like this. This is a problem in this community and you’re only the second reviewer I’ve seen that even mention it. Thanks
just gotta find other videos to watch instead of these reviews that we watch, i’ve had this problem at first and now i’m just enjoying what i have and actually want to finish the bottles i have

I'm just new in this hobby, and I've been collecting watches for a year. You got my respect for this video. Thank you, perfect timing. I was about yo go to down in the rabbit whole. Gym, I need to go back to the gym...
Great topic! Last month I only have a Curve cologne and didnt care much about fragrances. Now I have 3: a 212 Sexy, an Invictus and an Eros, and Im planning to buy more.
As soon as I get one, I'm lining up my next one. While I don't have a credit card and don't have an addiction yet, I can see how it can happen. There is so many amazing scents out there and it feels like I'm playing catch up.
Exactly me! I don't even buy online and I'm still susceptible. I think it's a phase though. After a while, you start knowing what really works and what doesn't and that really helps. Just don't go overboard during that initial frenzy 🥴
👍 hats off to you my friend. Great positive way of using your platform. Gained more respect for you. Young but you seem to have a good head on your shoulders. Happy holidays to you !
I went through a binge buying spree for a few weeks about a month ago, adding to my already large collection. Your videos are causing me to want to go out and buy more now lol
Totally a fragrance addict and I seriously need to stop... I just buy stuff and then start looking for a new one... Can never get enough. Seriously need help.
I respect you so much for this video some people wouldn’t make a video like this for the fear of loosing the views of us who are addicted due to watching reviews I respect you man show’s character
Dude, this video came up like a blessing as I've never ever thought I would become addicted to buy a lot of fragrances. I have 20 already and I've been tempted to buy more this coming Friday. I just recently paid off my credit card. Thanks for the advice!
Buying niche fragrances is a quick way to hit those minimum spends on credit card bonuses. If you have the money to of course. Never spend what you don’t have
Great video, this is a much needed discussion in the community. It’s a problem. This stuff is really addictive on the “gotta catch em all” aspect of the hobby.
And the thing is, you buy fragrances and then almost immediatly you search for other "better" or more "super duper special" fragrances, and this continues
Yes! I've spent so much money this year!!! It's upsetting because there were many other things that could have been done around the house or purchased or simply saved instead. A lot of problem was with buying samples, falling in love with them and then buying full bottles. This happened a LOT! My "to buy" list was also an issue as I got a lot of stuff from it and thankfully it's whittled down to only three more to get. But all of them are over $100 as are most of the fragrances that I buy now. Going from mainstream to mostly niche has been the primary cause of crazy overspending. I will be on a no buy or very limited buy next year to compensate for the insane spending this year. As well as not getting samples of everything cool that comes out. That may mean quitting watching fragrance videos completely. The less I see, the less I'll spend. It is an addiction and the Black Friday sales sure don't help. I bought a sample set and a 5ml sample just from the sales and a video. When your spending is starting to get in the multiple thousands of dollar range, there is a problem.
I needed this video. I went on a Mercari binge, well still going on, and I've spent tons. Just to try them out. But I justify it by telling myself I can sell it all back again.
Yes I’m addicted to fragrance and need to dial it back. Thanks for the video because I needed to hear it. I’m at a point where I’m purchasing fragrances because I’m upset or bored. I’ve got 118 bottles of perfume 26 bottles of fragrance mists 19 bottles of lotion. There’s no way I’m going to use all that up.
Great topic! Shopping addiction is definitely something that negatively impacts many people. I don’t think you said this, but what always helps me is that I don’t save my payment info on most sites. That way, I have to really think do I need that particular item, and most of the time, the answer’s no.
Just want give tip what I do, like Dallas say, I get decants, 5. 6 or 10 ml's of different fragrances when get paid. Get few each paycheck, this way have decent amount of different frags to wear. Can get good amount of wears from each decant. I have about 20 full bottles of the ones I love. I do it slowly, save for the more expensive bottles, as u say, do not rush. Just thought I share what I do, have good one.
Mines not an addiction I just haven't found "the one" yet. The one I absolutely love! I won't however go past a certain amount of money or buy a fragrance over priorities. But I do hope one day I find my one.
Thank you for making this video. It really does make me feel not so alone. I thought as a guy something was we with me. I love Oud and Oud fragrances and have been disappointed in some of them that I have purchased. Oud For Greatness got me started. I am always looking for something that made me feel like I did when I first smelled it. Anyway I greatly appreciate you and your videos and I thank you once again for making this one.
Very, very good and important video! You are wise beyond your young years, and articulate and knowledgeable too. You say you aren't a financial adviser but you tackle this as well as or better than any I've heard. I became a frag head just 5 months ago and built a collection that ideally should have been built over 5 years, not months. So now I'm scrambling to try to discipline myself. The psychology of the COVID shutdowns didn't help.
I've been buying fragrances like crazy. Mostly body mist but I got 2 purfumes lined up. One for Christmas and one for my birthday. I've been using my products and still have the urge to buy more which I'm trying to stop and you're right about buying purfumes and diff. Fragrances out of boredom. I don't really have any special events to wear them to. Just shopping, going to the mall, taking a walk then back home.
Good vid! I have SAD and lately I've been buying a lot of frags since the colder months are bad for me mood wise. And the excitement of coming home to packages gives me excitement. Before I clicked on this video I was looking at Dua's site for their 30% off sale. Good thing I can say is that, I do like and wear the things I've blind bought.
Yes Frag addiction is real. Another trick is have a designated space for them & once its full, stop. Im new to this hobby & love it. I started bout 2 months ago with $20 cheapies at Ross & TJs & quickly escalated to the higher grade designer ones. I bought versace blue👖, watched a review on u tube & it was ON. Now ive got 10 cheap & 22 designer & getting into decanting for $$ .
jeremy and you are the culprit for my addiction of fragrance came back last month i bought adg profumo 180ml, versace dylan 200ml, bentley intense and F by ferragamo black..now I'm thinking about prada lhomme and stronger with you absolutely 😅
I used to buy full bottles, but now I just buy samples and decants. Saved a lot of money by switching to decants, because a lot of times I would get a bottle of something, and not even like it that much, but would feel forced to have to use it so it wasn't a waste of money. After buying bottles initially, I have a collection that will take me the rest of my life to use up, so no point to buy a full bottle of something, unless I really love it. Another switch was from 100 ml to 50 ml bottles, easy way to widdle down the price for a bottle.
What I'm doing is this: Finding ways to keep my fragrance-collecting hobby in check without the unrealistic goal of totally abstaining from further purchases indefinitely. Right now, I'm limiting myself to if I happen to find something both appealing and well-priced at a thrift store, estate sale, yard sale, etc. Otherwise, I'm planning to shop after Christmas for markdowns, being selective. If I don't buy anything then, I'll do year-end online shopping. I'm setting aside a budget for this by selling various things I have sitting around that I'll probably never use, cashing in loose change, and so forth--using money that doesn't involve spending part of my paycheck or digging into past savings.
Number one reason why I don't have a credit card - because I know I'd be using it constantly to buy fragrances to fulfill that desire or need to have the next best thing. I personally don't need 100+ bottles of fragrances and I honestly don't know how anyone can possibly afford that many bottles. I actually sold a lot of cheap shit that I don't reach for and got some money for them and I'm in the process of decanting all the other unwanted bottles for money for my savings account. This was a great video
Dammit man!! I literally just bought Versace eau fraiche and Perry Ellis 360 because of your reviews, and while I was paying I kept thinking I didn't need this, but realized I needed better everyday colognes my wife will appreciate everyday instead of my usual sauvage and ch mens prive I always wear
I think no blind buys will help me because if I have to go to my macys and smell them and make sure i want them, I probably won't buy most of them. Also, just waiting like 72 hours is huge to not buying stuff you don't want.
Something that has helped me is thinking about how buying more frags will limit how much i can use the ones i have. I REALLY like the MFK Grand soir and Silver I got and I want to use them up and love them so buying more will hurt that. Also in addition I think about how I have my bases already covered because i have one for all the situations Id need one for already. One more tip is to take your time in finding the best ones you can that really blow you away, once you have your bases covered and have what you need and love only sample from then on and only buy things you would love and adore. I sampled like about 20 or so frags and I only walked away loving just one ( Initio - side effect ) so when I have the money and I already have the other things in life i need ill grab it. till then i have what i need! Cheers!
I'm officially addicted, smh😢. Oct 2022 I had 3 bottles now I have at least 30 different fragrances. I smelled the Aventis DNA and have been hooked every since.
Subscribed just now after watching a hand full of your videos. You have excellent content! Definitely a different flavor than the rest of the fragrance reviewers. Keep up the good work 👍🏼
I have a simple approach: buy two good quality fragrances, one for warm and one for cold months, and stick with them. I bought Dior's Sauvage and Givenchy's Reserve Privee. Until I'm done with both, no need to get into a fragrance store (or website) any more.
Same way cigarette companies contribute to lung cancer, fast food restaurants contribute to obesity, liquor brands contribute to alcoholism, cars contribute to pollution, and how almost everything we consume apparently has "cancer causing effects." Let's ban everything right? It's time for adults to be adults and take responsibility for their actions. You have zero basis for argument here, scary to think you're a citizen who's able to vote and have responsibilities. People with 'shopping addictions' are going to shop no matter what, and I'm sure those who enjoy this hobby appreciate the deals and the fact that I'm able to save people thousands of dollars collectively.
You got my respect for bringing this topic up, everything you mentioned on here is 100% true. Only thing that is not worth it in my opinion is shoping for samples at the site you mentioned with shipping popular 5ml decants are like over 20 after shipping. But other than that your video was great Keep it up bro✌
The thing is, this is probably a real thing. Shopping addiction, gambling, dating, sex, these are all things you can get addicted to in excess. It is the brother to substance addiction, called a "process addiction." You get the same pleasure signals when you are buying a new fragrance or receiving it in the mail. You get a temporary high, the high goes away, and you have to buy more to repeat the process.
Good advice. I've managed to mostly stay away from spending too much money but every once in awhile I end up making a purchase that was probably more than I needed! I buy many samples for reviewing and saving money and I also do splits on a lot of stuff so I can save some money because I'll rarely use a whole bottle! Even 20 ml lasts a long time.
I'm a fragrance addict from Spain, I have over 300 perfumes and now i had black Friday 5 orders and since I've been missing out on cheap but smell like expensive frags like Individual, Bentley Intense, F black, Encre Noir... I'm really hoping for it
I've got around 100 bottles but its took me around 10 years to accumulate that many; I set a budget, and extend it by selling or swapping ones that I probably will never wear again. If you got a high priced discontinued fragrance/s that you never pull the trigger on anymore, sell it. There is really no point to having a 100+ bottle of Fragrances; frankly even 50 is probably too many. If you want to cut back, get off fragrance social media ASAP; there is constantly new releases, hype trains, clones and soon to be discontinued fragrances for you just waiting to buy. Stop paying attention to the fragrance world and enjoy the ones currently in your collection.
The most important thing don't watch too much fragrance reviews
Agree!!!!
I've got caught up in fragrance review frenzies. It's very dangerous
Completely agree! I have allowed too many people I don't even know influence me in a negative way. It's kind of silly when you think about it. I'm not knocking the reviwers, but it is up to me to have self control.

Leave all fragrance social groups. Trust me, it worked for me.
I wish I saw this earlier...I saw someone posted that Armani is having 40% off sales and jumped to make an impulse purchase :(
Your right don't watch the videos I was sucker I get to have it now lol
How did it worked when you’re still writing comments on his channel 🤣🤣🤣
I left all frangrance groups on facebook. Now I only buy when I have extra money. I also deleted all the sites off my phone.

Totally a fragrance addict and I seriously need to stop... I just buy stuff and then start looking for a new one... Can never get enough. Seriously need help.
Me too
I respect you so much for this video some people wouldn’t make a video like this for the fear of loosing the views of us who are addicted due to watching reviews I respect you man show’s character
Dude, this video came up like a blessing as I've never ever thought I would become addicted to buy a lot of fragrances. I have 20 already and I've been tempted to buy more this coming Friday. I just recently paid off my credit card. Thanks for the advice!
Glad I can help brother!
Buying niche fragrances is a quick way to hit those minimum spends on credit card bonuses. If you have the money to of course. Never spend what you don’t have
Junior hey whats up?
There’s no way I’m going to use all that up.
same here . i have a lot too. and have pending orders in an online shop
A great video which stands out from the usual YT filler I see everywhere. I just clicked the subscribe button on the back of it...
I was about to say this same thing. Sense I started watching you I have spent over 1000 dollars in 3 weeks
dude wtf slow down
This is great advice Dallas. I think this applies to basically all kinds of regular unnecessary spending. Thanks so much.
Great topic to touch on. Easier than ever to over shop. I'm bad about it lol
I’ve acquired about 75 samples and have a bottle of Aventus & GIO. I love the variety of recommended scents; after all, variety is the spice of life.
Bottom note made video about this years back and its great to have a refresher. Awesome topic
Thank you Dallas🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
You are wise for your age. Hope you are investing in yourself. Youre a born businessman
This is the best video on the fragrance community. Thank you so much.
Thanks for touching on this topic..... I think I struggle a little with this! Thanks again!
Buying my first niche fragrance slowed me down tremendously because now I nearly refuse to buy anything else
Thanks bro! Awesome video!! I love Fragrances, Drums and Shoes
Thabks for posting this! Im headed down that route now.. eeeek
jeremy and you are the culprit for my addiction of fragrance came back last month i bought adg profumo 180ml, versace dylan 200ml, bentley intense and F by ferragamo black..now I'm thinking about prada lhomme and stronger with you absolutely 😅
People must watch this before starting there fragrance journey.. wish i learned this.
my fragrance journey has come to an end. but at least my wallet didnt take too much damage, mostly cause i bought samples
@@SPACEDOUT19 Smart one lol
What watch you wear in the thumb? I like it! Thanks
You just save me 100% off this black friday! Good job on this video👍
The video I needed to see!! Spent so much money on my small collection.
Cheers!
Thank you very much for this insightful/helpful video. I needed to hear this.
Keep up the good work 👍🏼
Awesome content!
I have a simple approach: buy two good quality fragrances, one for warm and one for cold months, and stick with them. I bought Dior's Sauvage and Givenchy's Reserve Privee. Until I'm done with both, no need to get into a fragrance store (or website) any more.
You are literally contributing to the problem of shopping addiction
@@ChaosFragrances I support big tobacco too lol
Great message!
I DO NOT HAVE A PROBLEM...Really, I don't
I really think I needed to watch this video - a problem I didn’t even realise I had
You got my respect for bringing this topic up, everything you mentioned on here is 100% true. Only thing that is not worth it in my opinion is shoping for samples at the site you mentioned with shipping popular 5ml decants are like over 20 after shipping. But other than that your video was great Keep it up bro✌
Saw this at the perfect time . Thanks !
Brilliant stuff. Really good information, specially for those who are just starting their fragrance journey.
I bought 30 in a month, and it's just my first month in! It includes a lot of clones, which are really good now and so much cheaper
Bought 5 Colognes in the last week thank you for this.
Magnificent content Dallas! Indicate your transpersy and integrity.. Great video!
Great video. Respect
Appreciate you being honest about this topic. I myself have to be careful with spending too much on fragrances.
