I'm currently in the trap of getting loads of fragrances. The main thing was it started with a quest for "the one". Now It's ended up as a quest to find a scent for each feeling and mood under every temperature and weather condition and social situation, and I'm realising how silly it is, but my curiosity to find more fragrances is taking over.
I had a pre-existing shopping compulsion I transferred to fragrances. Thankfully, the bottles I've bought so far have all been cheapies and designers, with only samples of niche fragrances, so the damage isn't as bad as it could have been.
Spot on man! Hoarding and spending so much money on fragrances is not going to make you a happier person. When I first started collecting, I honestly fell in that trap and soon realized it wasn't worth it. I started selling and giving away a lot of fragrances I didn't wear or truly enjoyed and cut down to 20 fragrances total, which is more than enough and that will last me a lifetime. Thanks for your honesty!
Well said! Collecting frags is not a MUST for us it's more so just a bonus for us folks that are able to do it cuz it does cost a lot of money. I have a collection of 163 frags now and I'll never be able to use all of those in my lifetime so sometimes you have to question yourself why you do it and in my personal opinion it just comes down to it being an addiction or a huge vice for us. It's crazy cuz once you do start it really is hard to stop so it does take a whole lot of will power to stop, the question then becomes can you do it and that's the hardest part of it all! 💯🤷♂️🙆♂️
Look you're somewhat right but one of the reasons what I like about fragrance collecting is that it's practical because you can actually use the fragrances I mean it's not like you're collecting baseball cards and statues where you just sit there and look at them at least with fragrances you can actually wear them spray them on you and wear them
@@TheHispanicJukeBox I agree with you my guy. However, in my case, I was collecting so many that I wasn't actually wearing them or wearing them once or twice a year so that's when I realized that I rather have a small collection but enjoy and wear all of my fragrances. Cheers!
@@jimmymcwatters4182 I agree with everyone especially you. This is something I've been thinking about as of late. I'm well over 100 & struggle to wear all of them. I really have been thinking about down sizing my collection. There's a part of me that wish I didn't get into this.
As someone who’s started down the mad rabbit hole of fragrance collections(mine is 30 bottles to date), its nice to see you be genuine and real. I’ve had to unfollow and not watch other RUclipsrs because being real faded and it became a money game.
A lot of shills in this space, for sure. I unsubbed from a ton of channels over the last year. After 50 or so bottles you start to see a lot of overlap, and no new releases are completely necessary. Now I always ask myself the question: is this different enough from the things I already own. As Chaos said, you should really love the fragrances you own :)
Found what I love after 30+ bottles. Just have a “throw away” collection and ask friends what ones they like and if they want them. I only miss comparing frags to each other but not wearing them.
I think my last purchase is my last FULL SIZE bottle I’ll own. I currently own 7, 100mL bottles. It’s going to take me YEARS to empty them & I wear fragrance EVERYDAY. From this point on just call me “The Decant Guy”. If I get 2 or 3, 9mL decants every 3 months and fill in with my seasonal signature scents- I can try soooooo many Niche (and other) frags that content creators recommend without breaking the bank.
You and Ashton comes forward as a few of the more responsible frag-youtubers out there. Always recognizing that there is a clear dark side of the moon (if one cannot control it), but also clearly stating such in your videos. I like your style as you always come across as humble and giving us hints of good deals, tips & tricks. The rest is up to the consumer. Never anything pushing. Great contribution to the culture & community. Keep it up.
After I hit around 50 fragrances I started to realize, a lot of them smell the same and then it became an issue of am I buying it for the right reasons
Definitely agree. I was buying cheapies just to try them. Ended up gifting away most of them. Now trying to make my collection even smaller. Have about 20+ right now, and still have some more to get rid of.
Good for you bro…I was hooked then off the train for a year and got sucked back in… made plenty of excuses to buy cheapies “ I work hard “ it’s my hobby so what” I make decent money” wife was like just buy a nice one instead of 5 cheap ones that you give away…she’s right. But when I see one for 20$ at Ross it’s hard to resist
@@tokenblack7983 yeah that's been my new mentality. Put that money aside for a nicer one. Plus when you own even just 5 bottles it takes awhile to go through, let alone 20 Plus lol.
I'm the same had about 15 gave 4 away, now I have 11, most expensive that I have is Dior sauvage EDT, I'm hooked on colognes, trying not to buy anymore, internet says they expire????
My #1 rule with choosing a new fragrance (I have 10) is to choose fragrances that genuinely make me happy. Don't worry about being sexy, unique, or boujee. As long as a fragrance doesn't smell like complete crap, if wearing it makes you happy, then that happiness will be felt by the people around you. That will make you more attractive then ANY note breakdown
Shopping is addictive and I'm gonna knock it off for a while, at least for cologne anyway. I just started buying in Feb. im @ 10btls already. Yeah im good now. Dude this was one of the realest things ive watched on the net. May THE FATHER Bless you man! Thanks man!
So much truth in this! Even having 15 fragrances like myself at the moment... I find it hard to choose which one I want for the day. I couldn't imagine having as much as you.
Most genuine video I’ve seen on the channel. I’ve always thought of you as a humble reviewer. I feel once you’ve started the journey of fragrance collecting, it’ll be hard to ever stop. Even if it’s off camera. Its liquid art. Sadly, majority of fragrances depreciate in value after using it. But I see fragrance collections like art galleries.
That would actually be a great name for a fragrance, LIQUID ART, LIQUID ART AZURE or LIQUID ART INTENSE/ABSOLUTE etc... I kind of LOVE the latter of those names! 🤔🤔 But I do understand that wasn't your point, I just thought it was a pretty cool way of putting it and I would have to 100% agree with you on that topic! 💯 👊🏼
@@2pinkrbd Oh Wow! Never thought of it that way but you're absolutely right! That would make for an amazing name for a niche/designer fragrance store for sure! Great thinking on that, someone should trademark that immediately and open up a frag store with a name like that, seriously though! Really cool!! 💯👊🏼🤔
I bought about 35, and it's definitely given me some perspective. I'm thrilled that I've defined my tastes. I've gotten much better at only getting that which I'll truly love. I quite like most of my collection.
I understand completely about finding it difficult to choose a fragrance of the day. My collection is creeping towards 200 fragrances and the bigger it gets, the longer it takes to choose. Which means half the time I just grab one of my dumb reach ones.
@@wayne2150 these decisions to narrow ones collection interest me very much as in just building mine I'm only at 5 frags can I ask what you decided to keep xD maybe at least what were the easy choices to keep
I love hearing you on this issue. My collection is around 150 bottles and it’s only for the passion of it. Yes, it represents a problem to choose on a daily basis what to use, but I am happy with that. The best lesson you gave us is humility, modesty. Thank you so much for that.
This is a very interesting video and testimony. I usually would just buy 2-3 Creeds a year and a D&G for summer and be done with it. I got pulled in this winter when I first heard about Clones and these different UAE 🇦🇪 companies and the high quality of their clones. When I was in my 20’s and thirties, the department stores were really your only options. Now, I own about 120 bottles of various fragrances. I’ll have to admit I really enjoy the scents. It’s uplifting and satisfying to pick up a random bottle and just enjoy the goodness of the juice. I’m in my early 60’s and this has become a fascinating new hobby for me. I even considered starting my own channel! That is a possibility. Anyways, I really appreciate your candor and point of view. You’re a really decent young man as far as I can tell. Whoever raised you seems to have done a fantastic job. See yah round. Love the channel. 👍🏽 🤜🏽
Dallas! I've heard you say how old you are so I'm about 30+ years older than you but share the same passion for fragrances. It's takes an immense amount of maturity and foresight to say what you said here. Much respect to you and what you do. Your sensitivity towards this passion and how it can be consuming and overwhelming for someone who may feel like they have to buy everything you like says a lot about you. Blessings to you Sir. I'll support you for sure!
My man humble !!... what I do i buy the smallest bottles (40or50ml) and wear them off i love wearing different types of fragrances...keep the good job my friend👍
No worries- does not come off as bragging. I like to hear your reviews and fragrance breakdowns. This is very helpful in my decision to buy (or not buy) something. Great channel!
Dallas, this was a wonderful and much needed video. I think too many of us get caught up in the new and now and feel we must pick up everything and anything that gets talked about. My collection barely cracks 200 and I completely understand the overwhelming burden of having to choose what to wear. Thank you so much for keeping it real 👍🏽
Very good and honest information. I wish I had seen this prior to my fragrance journey a few years ago. I have about 150 different fragrances however many are similar. Only a hand full Of them that I just don’t care for. If I were to do it again I would have started buying samples of what I could first. Then purchased maybe a couple dozen. That’s more than enough. Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer, and all season Signature scents keeping formal and casual in mind. It’s funny, I have over 150 and my wife has 6 and all but one of those I bought for her. 😂🤣😂
I just bought a spice rack that I use for my fragrances. The way I'm managing it is that the rack holds around 35-40 fragrances. Once I fill that rack up, the only way I'm buying more is if I find something that I like better than what I have. If that happens, then I have to sell something to replace it with a new one.
Hi may i know how you keep those fragrance long lasting from expiring? Since some of the fragrances expired as mentioned by most of my seller in 3 years from its mfg date.
Very well said! I was just thinking the other day how much I appreciated your honest take on the scents you review. I also really appreciate how you cover everything from cheapies to niche fragrances and you do so with the same level of interest.
Great video thx for your honesty. I have about 50 fragrances and very happy with my collection. Its not hard for me to pick a daily scent thankfully. Thats the best part in my opinion !!
Dallas!!! Dude, let me tell u, real shit man, I really appreciate this video! This was REAL, it was straight from the heart, just genuine! This is why I listen to u! I haven't subscribed to very many channels, but I am happy more & more about this choice! FUCK the haters, & those who accuse u of these things! U are the man! Much support always man! ✊🏾
I really appreciate your sincerity, which would be essential for anyone who would like to have a collection is to start by having 2 perfumes for each season, not 1 per season but 2, because even I sometimes don't like the smell of a perfume in a season, better to have 2 per season
This helped reinforce my mindset I currently have a 5 fragrance collection and have decided on trying to keep it under 10 or maybe 12 that way it's a more personal collection of what I'd consider signature scents and at the end of the day a easier decision of what to wear plus this will allow me to find what I love and invest in back up bottles instead of a huge collection
Lol this is so true i have at the moment 70+ fragrances i catch myself staring trying to figure which im gonna wear for the day . I usually choose in rotation to what i wear . Alot of the ones i do have i bought based on your review & ive never been disappointed when i received & made a purchase . I am trying to slow down a little on the buying but man it is tough lol . But all & all much respect to you my friend i always enjoy your daily videos . Have a happy & blessed weekend 😊🙏🏼
Really appreciate this. As a novice collector with 12 bottles to date and the plan to grow to maybe 12 more this is what I needed. 3 months into this hobby you've been my go to guy. Keep up the good work.
luv the realism on show here. I have 15 frags (with at least 30 on my wishlist but realistically would only really buy if something was on super discount or ran out of something) and have a simple system of clones/cheapies for the daily grab&go within easy reach. I have discontinued designers which I have hold back as there are really scarse and similarly hold back other designers to nights out/spec occassions where you do have the time to umm and ahh. Agree on the choice of settings because I sometimes wear so called evening frags to the office. Overall I have loads of frags which I do not overspray and should last forever plus I WFH a lot.
You've always been the most genuine guy out there for fragrance videos; I started to trip down the rabbit hole and thankfully put the brakes on in time. I now only buy what I really like as opposed to anything and everything; this fascination with scent costs thousands of £/$/€ and it's so refreshing to hear a real, genuine guy like yourself be so open.
I have about 18 bottles, 17 of which I've collected over the past year thanks to your channel and 2 of which are backup bottles of ADG Profumo and YSL LNDL Bleu Electrique (discontinued). I have my favorites in a 7-10 bottle rotation, but then I have some fragrances that tend to get passed on. I recently found out that fragrances have a shelf life and expire after a few years. Because of that, I tend to pass on buying some amazing fragrances unless I can find them for unbeatable deals.
They dont expire, at least not within a lifetime. They may lose some volatile notes such as citrus but as long as they are well stored they will outlive the collector for the most part. There is actually a niche of perfume collectors that collect fragrances from the 1920’s - 1970’s.
I was up to 150 bottles. Cut it to 50. I had to figure out which notes I loved. I’m done. Had to take myself out of all fragrance groups. Time for a change
I do but don’t have a lot. As of today I’m in the 50+ club, but I’ve come to realize if I were to start over, I’d probably rebuy only half of what I have. For example I’d pass on Spice bomb extreme, Montblanc Starwalker, Aqua Di Gio Profumo, and Sean Jean Unforgettable. Instead of buying Armani Code edp I’d probably get Absolu or Profumo instead. My mistake was allowing myself to be persuaded by RUclips reviewers and not putting myself in check. I agree with 20-25!! That’s it!! After that… you might need the reality check like I did.
Awesome collection!! I have 75 now. Usually pick up a couple a month. My mother in law walked in the room where my fragrances and said “I’ve never seen that many!!😮. Lol, if she only knew what some people actually have!!
I have two shelves, one for approx 20 designer fragrances and the other for niche fragrances which are basically 3 Creeds, 3 Parfums De Marly’s, a Mancera RT and a Xerjoff. The way I keep a lid on my collection is by limiting my space where I keep them and before I buy a fragrance I always think of the occasion I’d use it and if I feel I’d pick up one I already have instead more then not, I’ll skip it. I do have a few brand new back up boxes in a draw but that’s it 👍🏻
If your a scent lover you know Gucci pour homme 2 it's the bottle that set me off now I have 45 or more nich designer off the path and all kinds of parts of the 🌎 are in my possession 🎉🎉😢❤
Agreed with everything you said. I collect over 700 bottles in a 3 year span and I can relate to having difficulty choosing what to wear. Sometimes I would find great fragrances that I completely forgot I had. Not to mention the enormous effort that is moving the entire collection to a new house. I have now sold more than half of my collection and plan on reducing it even more. It is hard to let some of this bottles go but I really don’t need this many.
Incidentally, what do you use to transport fragrances when you move? I haven't seen anyone address this, and an Amazon search yields bupkis. I'm wondering if there's some sort of padded enclosure people use to store and transport model cars or something like that.
@@DeflatingAtheism I had to use three of those big heavy duty boxes. I also kept most of my fragrance boxes so that not helped with an extra layer of protection but also help everything fit better inside the box. There were some fragrances without boxes. I either pack them tight in a tray that came with one of the boxes or wrapped them with bubble wrap. I had them ship from Hawaii to Virginia when I only had about 200 bottles and they arrived without damage. Last year I moved to a new house just about 15 miles away and only broke one bottle. One of those fully pack tough box easily can weigh over 300lbs.
Couple of years ago, I had only 4 fragrances (one for each season) and now, I'm almost at 100 bottles! What was once a light hobby has now become full blown addiction!! I know I will NEVER end up using all the fragrances but I find myself always searching/purchasing more and more bottles. I guess I just love this game too much to stop. Hahaha😜
For me it comes in waves. I had had the same two frags for years. CK one and Tiffany&Co sport. When the ran out I’d just re up. One day was searching for after shave reviews. Jeremy popped in my recommendations and that was a wrap. Full on Interest/addiction for a year. Got up to 30 bottles. Slowed down when I realized I’ll never wear all of this….6 months go by. See a video for a top 10 think why not havent watched a frag video in a while. Boom right back to being addicted
I really enjoy your videos although I do not own or purchase many designer frags . You have a solid format that is very informative and to the key points with intricate descriptions that are on point . There is absolutely nothing wrong with being a connoisseur of fragrances and acquiring to enjoy a vast range of vibes and moods via scent profiles. It’s extremely therapeutic and enhancing of one’s general state of being .
There are plenty of influencers on social media that I enjoy watching for information I will most likely never use but there is no way I want to try and match up with any of them. This is a great video and I’m happy to have just 4 fragrances in my possession that I use regularly and won’t be buying any more until something is empty. Men in general collect too many things instead of memories.
Like any hobby you can easy go out with it. I do love fragrances but never gave them much thought always just had a rotation of 2-4. Had bit of nostalgia not long ago trying on Fahrenheit for the first time in nearly 30 years, as a young teen that fragrance which was awesome back then to me at 40 still is today. Only very recently have I took having certain fragrances for ccasions and times of the day or year more seriously. But I limit it to 10. 3 easy every day, 2 winter, 2 summer, 2 evening out/date night. I could easily ramp the amount up, but whilst I'm enjoying what I have I'll sample others and make a note of others to consider rather than just keep buying. Then when 1 bottle finishes I'll buy a new one. Be interesting if I get to point where there are a set 10 fragrances I end up sticking with.
Thanks for your spot on insights! I have about 300 or more with about 15 unopened boxes so I decided not to purchase anything else until I skin tested all of the unopened fragrances. I do have the advantage of having lots of family members to gift my undesirable ones to. In the future I will be much more selective about my purchases because I will never use all of the ones that I have. In some cases less is more. Take care.
I love this video. Genuine & real. I myself will look at my collection every 6 months or so and sort through what I am using and what I’m not using. I’ve been trying to limit my collection to 40-50 fragrances. Over 50 it’s really hard to choose a fragrance to wear at ease. All this in my opinion. Fragrances I don’t use anymore I end up selling on eBay. I don’t look to profit as I have already won with the experience I had with that former fragrance and the current ones I do still have.
I am at the point where I have soooo many it is giving me anxiety. Eventhough I have them very organized and displayed beautifully. I am ready to do a huge declutter. Only keeping my loves ❤️
I keep a text file of prospective fragrance purchases that kept growing and growing and growing. Thankfully, I started my decluttering process before I ever bought all of them!
My advice with ~50 open bottles: just too much. Overchoice, decision fatigue exists. My recent solution: I had to split to two groups just to handle this volume: spring-summer portion, autumn-winter portion. (I do change which group is on shelf every ~6 months! Other group is packed away. It's my compromise between sanity and collecting addiction.) Goal is to downscale to 8 to 15 per group (based on a Caltech study on optimal choice variety) -> 16 to 30 altogether. That would be an ideal number of options for everyday decision making. Ways to achive this: use up, give away, sell. Whatever fits you, but I prefer the first: like to keep empty bottles and don't have time to market. Ways to limit buying spree: step 1: Will it exceed my group limit? Then don't. First get one out. step 2: On what occasion would I wear it? Do I already have at least 2-3 options for that specific occasion? Is there another vacant role to fill? If not, buy it. I disagree to "just grab something": fragrance is an accessory to your appearance, just like your clothes. And you do choose what you wear and don't end up wearing tuxedo to the beach or a colorful short to a friend's wedding, do you? Contradicts to having a choice of scents: limit your choice then get the decision rightly done. Also it worth mentioning that your collection will degrade with time: are you okay with throwing out the spoiled bottles? One more thing: you can't have all the nice things in your life: your money and time are both limited. But you should have at least one area, where you afford luxury to yourself. For me it's not cars, watches, booze, etc., it's fragrances. I allow myself to wear top-shelf designers even to go shopping or to just feel good at home. My getaway of always caring about "value for money". (Still I cap max. price per bottle: I still have a budget for this hobby, since I live in a rather low-income "developing" country (Hungary). So I'd choose e.g.: Missoni - Wave instead of Chanel - Allure Homme Sport; or Montblanc - Explorer instead of Creed Aventus (IMHO overhyped anyway). But I'm done wih cheap (low-quality) knockoffs and celebrity-branded perfumes, they won't fit my limited, lean collection.
I have under 10 fragrances and I honestly am not sure which to use on a lot of days. Additionally, I’m worried about actually getting to use them before the fragrances seperate/expire. Also I’ve spent easily $1k on less than 10 of them. I have CDN Intense man, ADG Profumo, Spicebomb Extreme, JPG UltraMale, Wanted by Night, Parfums De Marly Carlisle, Halston Z-14. All are the max size bottles because at the time I thought I’d actually use the whole bottles lol
Also I'm extremely grateful for the work you put in! I just started collecting a few months ago and it's because of your channel I have 15 now and they have pretty much all came from your recommendations or Gent Scents and I look forward to your videos daily! But like I said 15 and growing with a few more in my Fragrance Net cart now lol its hard to choose in the morning but also fun 😉
Love this video bro. But also would LOVEEE for you to do a weeks what I wear. Each day talk about what you’re doing that day and what you’re wearing. I have 20 designer fragrances and I’m more than happy with it but even I struggle sometimes with options
Great video Dallas. As you know this game can be very addictive and costly. It's nice to see you keeping it real and being responsible for your viewers and setting and example to others. I'd like to see other fragrance influencers talking about being responsible with purchases and keeping them within financial means. There should be many other higher priorities for people before fragrances.
Quality over quantity always! I've been collecting frags for probably 15 years. I've got just over 100 bottles ranging from cheapies to designers and niche. I have them organized on their own shelves for spring, summer, fall, winter, all seasons, and day/ night/ work/ party/ classy/ date. Keeping my frags organized for seasons and settings makes it easy to choose quickly running out the door, and also looks awesome.
I have about 30, with only about 10 full bottles, the rest are decants ranging from 1 ml to 10 ml. I think I can pare it down to 10 since I finally have an idea of the stuff I really love. Also, I am oversprayer so I can easily use up decants in a day or week.
I totally hear this. I just had a big back and forth text convo with a friend who pretty much only wears $200-400 designer/niche stuff now. I don't like paying $100-300ishh a bottle for everything and he can't figure out why I said "no thanks, I'm not gonna buy YSL Tuxedo, that is insanely priced." I don't think he has ever recommended anything to me that's under $150. I like some stuff he is into, but I am not gonna spend $200 or so for some "every day wear" thing unless I am obsessed with it. I think all of the FB groups he is in fragrances just egg him on. He is like this with old school and artisan shaving stuff too, I like that to a good degree, but I won't be constantly buying new expensive stuff to spend the money. I have other hobbies to spend on too, and the bills! Lol and I have 50 something bottles for the record, I think my buddy just has a real spending habit on anything he gets interested in and I think he thinks high value has to equal high money. Thanks Dallas, you and Ash have become much more down to earth people to follow in this scene, and aren't like some people clearly pushing certain houses all of the time.
Its interesting that we have gone opposite ways on this, to me i would only spend that amount on an everyday wear fragrance. No way am i going to spend £200 on something i wear once in a blue moon. I would say that its in no way necessary to spend that much on any fragrance at all though, 3 of my favourite fragrances were picked up for £55, £27.50 and £19.80.
I totally understand where ur coming from, to date I have 53 Fragrances. I've gotten to the point of giving away some of my fragrances, I'm keeping the great performing one's. I think performance is very important because we are spending 💰 on them so they should project and last long.
I really think 40-50 is a target range for a collector- big enough to cover every situation, with room for rarities and conversation pieces you might pull out one in a blue moon, and small enough to mentally keep tabs of. Of course, it helps if you also have a pile of samples and decants.
I'll get all excited by a review & always need to ask myself 2 Qs before taking the plunge: 1) Do I even like this scent profile? and 2) do I already own something similar?
Hi good video, it is true to have many fragrances, you don't use them all, I have about 50 fragrances but I only use about 20 the ones that I really like and my wife loves them, I only have about 5 niches aventus, layto, persival, intense coffee , elysium and the rest are designer, dior, chanel, armani, guerlain, givenchy, prada, versace, etc.
Great vid thanks. I've reached 30 and now starting to really see the same kinds of category releases happening again and again. If you know what you like, then focus on that type, have a few variations. For sure have a few different olfactory categories but you should be able to know what you really like and be able to leave the repeats on the shelf. Another good idea you mention-. Sell the empty bottles of your faves, and get fresh ones.
I just did a count , Including a few 30ml small bottles I’ve got exactly 97 bottles in my collection .. I think I’ll just say the hell with it and order up 3 more and make it a nice even number then take a break for the spring.
@@sebastienc.2257 For a while I sold off quite a few decants and bottles on eBay , they must have cracked down on saling samples tho cause they pulled down all of my listings
I can't imagine the stress that comes with owning a wall of fragrances. It's interesting to hear your thoughts as somebody who creates content about fragrances.
Gathering things is in our genes. My wife has over 100 pairs of shoes. What can I say to that when I have over 300 different scents myself. Do I need so many? Fifteen would be enough. But there is something in this game that is addictive. Everyone goes according to their abilities in these things, my friend collects watches and that is expensive.
Its human (and animal) nature to hoard resources, particularly resources that are scarce or in danger of becoming so, thats why as soon as something is announced as discontinued people go and buy 5 back up bottles.
Yeah I have a decent size fragrance collection I have probably 100-120+ bottles that I've collected over the years I purchased several from the stores where they're more pricey and some that you can't find anywhere else except for a more pricey website but a lot of mine are from discounters.. But I definitely agree like even though I love my collection I have a lot I fragrances that I absolutely love when it comes to choosing fragrances scent of the day I've noticed every once in awhile like I'll stick to a few and then I realize it and then start choosing other ones since I have a large collection I mean I don't purchase every new fragrance that comes out I have a bunch of fragrances that I really like that I purchased and if there is a fragrance that comes out that I do look forward to I will get it but I'm not purchasing a bunch of new fragrances all the time. And if I do get a fragrance for a good deal or however and I don't like it I will try to at least see if I like it I'll try it two separate times and then give it some time and then try another two separate times and if I still don't like it I'm never going to like it that's just how I am and when that happens I will if it's an expensive fragrance I will sometimes sell it on eBay or macari etc Or I will gift it to a family member or friends that I know will really like it.. that's usually what I do is I gift it to family and friends like all of my family and friends have decent size fragrance collections just from fragrances I have given to them as gifts lol. So yeah I mean you have the excuse you are a fragrance RUclips channel I just love fragrances man I love to smell good so I collect them and wear them several of my bottles are doubles or triple I'll buy extra bottle especially if it's discontinued.. the other annoying thing with having so many bottles is no matter how many times you clean them even though I have dusted cleaned everything they always get Dusty extremely fast.. And cleaning all of them is quite the hassle but once a month I'll do a light clean of them and then like once every 3 months I'll take them out individually and clean them down and clean the shelves down and replace everything. Oh yeah I plan on not getting any more fragrances unless like they are something I really want and I plan on getting rid of more just to lighten up what I have. Because yeah it has been over the years but I spent a good amount of money thankfully a lot of the fragrances I bought were from discounters with coupon codes and some of them were like open boxed or testers so it's even more affordable but I plan to you know slowly get rid of some hero there that I either don't wear that much are at all and some that when I first got on my I really love the smell of home and I still like the smell of them but they're not my favorite.. but those ones are going to be hard. I have a lot of designer fragrances and a bunch of niche fragrances and I also have probably 40 to 50 bottles of fragrances that you can find on the Perkins discounters for $15 to $30 But then I have you know more expensive fragrances and then nice fragrances that are pretty expensive even on the low end.. So yeah I definitely understand the struggle.. I don't like complaining about it because I'm thankful for what I have I know plenty of people who are jealous and really love a lot of the fragrances I have and especially with my friends and family come over they will find their favorite designer our niche cologne and use it..lol and I know people who would love to a lot of the fragrances I have. But yeah I understand from someone who's not a fragrance RUclipsr.. That must be a pain in the ass because you got to buy all of the new fragrances are unique fragrances to do videos on them. So I understand that you are appreciative of the fact that you can purchase these items and that you do have them but the same time it can be a hassle to at times.
You’re a humble dude Dallas. 🍻🍻. Completely agree with your assessment of frag collecting. I stopped counting at 225 - it’s ridiculous. I used to quite a bit in the groups but just too many gimmie cheaps out there (and time wasters).
For me its about improving knowledge on what makes you clean and confident. I own about 15 and will still collect more as long as its responsible and within the budget.
I used to collect watches, after losing my job at the start of the pandemic I sold those off and started to collect fragrances. So far I have about 40, I have 8 more that I'm interested in and then I'll be replacing one at a time when one runs out. Truth is, I like fragrances but after the initial excitement of getting one it tends to be shelved and used rarely.
I have 9 bottles and i actually think its too much already. I just want like 3 signature scents and getting to choose between these "many" doesnt really feel personal anymore.
I get it, If I had that many fragrances, I would lose my mind trying to pick one in the morning, I keep around 20 colognes personally, when I run out of one, I'll buy a new one in the same style or the same one.
Epic collection there. I have about 25 bottles myself. Here's a question I have for you and everyone else, do you ever get asked the question, "what fragrance do you use regularly ?" when you go to store check out or buy new fragrances And how do respond knowing that you wear what you feel like wearing on the day?
I've got 70 bottles now and I just wear what I want.....I know everyone has the summer winter fall spring thing and colognes they wear specifically on those certain months....I Don't at all I just wear what I feel like that day whether it be spicebomb extreme in July or ysl Y eau fraiche in January I just want to smell the way I want to.
I remember seeing a Jeremy Fragrance vid a while back (one of the few I've watched) and he said something on the order of "I've got probably around 1000 different bottles I've bought for reviews, but as to how many I actually wear, it's around 10". Good advice.
I'm with you bro! That's why I start purchasing decants or just buy something from Alexandria Fragrances so I won't have to spend too much money and get the almost identical scent of à more expensive fragrance.
I have 63 and I’m done with buying fragrances it’s hard to tell which ones are my favorite because I love all of them if I had any favorites I would pick 3.
I have 18 fragrances and I feel like that's way too much all ready... But also I have at least 5 more in mind I really want to try or buy soon but now that's where I have set myself a limit.
Responsible and Genuine video, I like it, you're not letting things get to your head, witch is good to see as I've seen so many people I've subscribed to over years Considerably change when their popularity grows Great to see you have stayed grounded and part of the reason I'm still Subscribe to your channel today
Really enjoyed this of you just chopping it up with us. My collection isn’t big AT ALL and I’m making sure not to buy anything bigger than 1 oz unless I am absolutely IN LOVE with it. I have a few samples though so if I want to try something new I have a few to choose from
Jeremy Fragrance has the same backdrop. The only thing that matters is that you’re a genuine authority on Men’s Fragrances. The quality of your delivery and your opinion is never too far off from reality.
I have between 150 and 200 different bottles nothing in the creed pricing but I look it like clothes I don't want to wear the same shirt 365 days a year and I don't want the same scent. I have savage and I have tested it and I like it but I have never opened my bottle once something else takes over I will start wearing it. I get more attention in places when I wear something that is different like Azzaro wild mint it's not something everyone has smelled. I like the hidden gems that are not as popular. Armaf hunter intense has done really well for me. I am not a huge Armaf fan but they got that one right and not many people are wearing it so it makes you stand out.
I had 4 fragrances and after a rabbit hole this past 2 years I am about 167 but I do use mine every day with rotations so it's not a waste also I only buy fragrances here and there sometimes I got months without buying anything I only buy things I want and know I will like
I'm currently in the trap of getting loads of fragrances.
I am the same
Same lol
Same…. 😢
6 months later I'm still in this trap.
@@PrinceKelify 100% bro!!!
I bought like 80 bottles in the last 6 months haha
@@AWretchedMan lol 14 new bottles every month! 😂 Impressive!! Only trouble is that there's no time to actually wear the scents...
Keep it up.
Love the name
After I hit around 50 fragrances I started to realize, a lot of them smell the same and then it became an issue of am I buying it for the right reasons
100%
Quality over quantity.
Bang on
I am approaching 30 bottles and I am starting to think I should limit it at that number. It's really already too many
I’m the same as you man 🤝
Definitely agree.
Thanks man!
Fragrance buying is super addictive. I’m not a shopaholic in any way, but fragrance sniffing and buying… insatiable
I appreciate that my friend
That would actually be a great name for a fragrance, LIQUID ART, LIQUID ART AZURE or LIQUID ART INTENSE/ABSOLUTE etc... I kind of LOVE the latter of those names! 🤔🤔 But I do understand that wasn't your point, I just thought it was a pretty cool way of putting it and I would have to 100% agree with you on that topic! 💯 👊🏼
That would be a great name! Even for a fragrance store. “The Liquid Art”. Chaos should put that on top of his collection.
I feel a fragrance collection is like any other collection. You do it for the passion, not so much for the people.

Finally a real genuine and responsible RUclips fragrance reviewer. God bless you bro
Dallas, the truth hurts, but honesty will set you free. The most honest guy in the game. Respect!
Your honesty and reviews are always five star for me 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I just bought a spice rack that I use for my fragrances.
This guy is a great to deal with, live the way he explain and show hes point of view
Great Doug Demuro insert there!
luv the realism on show here.
I feel like 15-25 is the perfect amount to own
I do but don’t have a lot.
Hahaha😜
Glad I’m not the only one 😂😂😂😂😂
For me it comes in waves. I had had the same two frags for years. CK one and Tiffany&Co sport. When the ran out I’d just re up. One day was searching for after shave reviews. Jeremy popped in my recommendations and that was a wrap. Full on Interest/addiction for a year. Got up to 30 bottles. Slowed down when I realized I’ll never wear all of this….6 months go by.
Take care.
Damn. I feel ya, man. I have 144 bottles now (202, including boxed backup bottles).
It's my compromise between sanity and collecting addiction.)
Goal is to downscale to 8 to 15 per group (based on a Caltech study on optimal choice variety) -> 16 to 30 altogether.
That would be an ideal number of options for everyday decision making.
Ways to achive this: use up, give away, sell. Whatever fits you, but I prefer the first: like to keep empty bottles and don't have time to market.
Ways to limit buying spree:
step 1: Will it exceed my group limit?
It is fun in the morning thinking what’s today’s choice
One of your best posts yet! Great perspective from a personal fragrance expert.
Love this video bro. But also would LOVEEE for you to do a weeks what I wear. Each day talk about what you’re doing that day and what you’re wearing. I have 20 designer fragrances and I’m more than happy with it but even I struggle sometimes with options
I will put this video in my fragrance playlist as reminder. 👍🏻
You're a very humble dude!
Can you do a room tour.. how many bottles do you have. How much would you say it’s worth!? Would be a cool vid
Lmao. I got to 90 and gave away/sold off about 11.

For a while I sold off quite a few decants and bottles on eBay , they must have cracked down on saling samples tho cause they pulled down all of my listings
I can't imagine the stress that comes with owning a wall of fragrances. It's interesting to hear your thoughts as somebody who creates content about fragrances.
Thats why buy only when u have used em up. I keep no more than 12 at any given time of which a few are spl occasion wear.
64 bottle's and counting, love this hobby and love the choices.
And if I do get a fragrance for a good deal or however and I don't like it I will try to at least see if I like it I'll try it two separate times and then give it some time and then try another two separate times and if I still don't like it I'm never going to like it that's just how I am and when that happens I will if it's an expensive fragrance I will sometimes sell it on eBay or macari etc
Or I will gift it to a family member or friends that I know will really like it.. that's usually what I do is I gift it to family and friends like all of my family and friends have decent size fragrance collections just from fragrances I have given to them as gifts lol.
I have a lot of designer fragrances and a bunch of niche fragrances and I also have probably 40 to 50 bottles of fragrances that you can find on the Perkins discounters for $15 to $30
But then I have you know more expensive fragrances and then nice fragrances that are pretty expensive even on the low end..
The essence of this message truly helps those who struggle with ocd... avoid rules, and settle for imperfection 👍
I use my fragrance collection as my bedroom decor lmao. They’re on floating shelves with leds on the bottom and a large floating wall art above them
You’re a humble dude Dallas. 🍻🍻. Completely agree with your assessment of frag collecting. I stopped counting at 225 - it’s ridiculous. I used to quite a bit in the groups but just too many gimmie cheaps out there (and time wasters).
Best reviewer out there
For me its about improving knowledge on what makes you clean and confident.
Great video and I enjoyed it and have a blessed night
I have 9 bottles and i actually think its too much already. I just want like 3 signature scents and getting to choose between these "many" doesnt really feel personal anymore.
I get it, If I had that many fragrances, I would lose my mind trying to pick one in the morning, I keep around 20 colognes personally, when I run out of one, I'll buy a new one in the same style or the same one.
Real talk, love the channel!
This was so real, thank you
Epic collection there. I have about 25 bottles myself.
Here's a question I have for you and everyone else, do you ever get asked the question, "what fragrance do you use regularly ?" when you go to store check out or buy new fragrances
And how do respond knowing that you wear what you feel like wearing on the day?
Because of your work I learned so much and have some very nice frags. I appreciate you
I've got 70 bottles now and I just wear what I want.....I know everyone has the summer winter fall spring thing and colognes they wear specifically on those certain months....I Don't at all I just wear what I feel like that day whether it be spicebomb extreme in July or ysl Y eau fraiche in January I just want to smell the way I want to.
I remember seeing a Jeremy Fragrance vid a while back (one of the few I've watched) and he said something on the order of "I've got probably around 1000 different bottles I've bought for reviews, but as to how many I actually wear, it's around 10". Good advice.
Once you have the fail-safe panty dropper for every situation of your life, where do you go from there? 😄
I'm with you bro! That's why I start purchasing decants or just buy something from Alexandria Fragrances so I won't have to spend too much money and get the almost identical scent of à more expensive fragrance.
Muchas gracias Chaos por tus buenos consejos!
I have about 65 bottles (niche and designer) but I only wear 5-6 on a regular basis
We need these types of videos too! Thanks for all you do
I have over 300 fragrances and go through the same issues. I have some fragrances I have not used in years.
I love this video my boy! 👍🏻👍🏻
I had 4 fragrances and after a rabbit hole this past 2 years I am about 167 but I do use mine every day with rotations so it's not a waste also I only buy fragrances here and there sometimes I got months without buying anything I only buy things I want and know I will like
Much respect to you, congrats on the insane collection
