Hey man, love the stuff on your channel. I was thinking of making something using the cinematic tool, but I want to be able to record cutscenes. Every time I unlock the camera it glitches out. Is there a setting I'm missing or is it just impossible to record cutscenes with custom angles? Thanks
If it looks like characters are "glitching" this is normal. Remember, cutscenes arnt exactly as they seem. Being able to see anything going on behind the camera shows what has animation or not, the lighting changes to each character as they would be on camera. If you are recording a different angle, there is a very big possibility you will see things pop in or pop out of existence. You will also see a character slightly teleport or move really fast to a position. This is because the game renders cut scenes in real-time like I'm sure you know. So it may not be "glitching" but it looks like it cause you aren't used to seeing it like it is behind the camera. Sadly animations aren't 100 percent smooth between each angle. It would be cool, cause then you could record the whole thing in one go.
@@TheRedDeadRedemption2Show I see, that is very unfortunate. I had a really cool idea if I was able to easily capture cutscenes seamlessly. Thank you for the extended explanation!
@@GnashTastic yeah sadly you can't take one long take without seeing that. You would have to record other angles, and then edit it all together, splitting at the exact moments of the cuts in animation. It can be very hard to get exact frames to line up. Only because each recordings jump cut in animation where the original camera would be, may have 1 or 2 frames lost during that transition. Now people would still watch videos with what you want to do. Because its cool to see that stuff in real time. If you know how the cutscene goes, give it a shot!
@@TheRedDeadRedemption2Show oh gotcha, I see what you mean now. I think I can make it work actually, the only thing is the camera spawn is always far away from where the cutscene is happening whenever I tried it, so I guess I just have to get good at knowing the locations. I can make quick cuts work actually!
@@GnashTastic if you are quick enough, you can start the cutscene either in real time or using the replay option, then pressing f8, immediately press shift + F and this will pause everything. Since you will still be on the original camera for the cutscene, if you unlock the cutscene camera, it will stay in that position and you can do a take. There are other ways as well to get the camera in the position, just depends on the angle, and starting position
Eres muy capo, deberias hacer mas canciones con cinematica, eres el unico que vi que hace videos asi y deberias aprovecharlo, sobretodo de Javier que nota su realismo en canto como los acordes
Hey, question for ya. So I know it isn’t the case with this because this one is scripted, but how do you know when to film these in-camp interactions like the John and Bill being drunk one or any of the campfire stories? Do you just wait around and get lucky, are you able to control when they happen, or are there cues so you know when they will happen? That’s been kinda baffling me. I don’t know if you have gone over that in any of your tutorial streams because I only started one and didn’t wanna watch too much until I get the mod and start messing around with it so if you have I apologize for having you restate it. I love this project by the way. I had the idea the other day that it would be amazing if people that don’t play games could digest the story in some way like a show because this game is so much more than just a game, it’s a literary masterpiece. So I started watching some things about the camera mod and then stumbled upon your channel, which you have done pretty much exactly that. It’s surprising that you don’t have a bigger channel because this work is high quality. Keep it up and you definitely have a new subscriber
Hey brendan! Thank you so much for the kind words and we are so happy you found us. Pretty sure the lack of releasing episodes on a schedule is the reason why people may pass us off. Or maybe just bad luck. But things will change after we release the newest episode. To answer your question, we have done different ways to accomplish camp interactions. From reloading save points while in camp, leaving camp and coming back, changing the time of day, and yeah just getting lucky with how they pop up based on whats going on in the story. We have learned that leaving and coming back after a reload of a save with certain interactions that will happen, they will keep happening. But also! Other interactions can happen too. But the reloading saves is the best way to get consistent camp interactions. Once we know these interactions can start, we have Arthur outside of camp just far enough to keep the interaction from starting. We set up the angles (ots shots, single shots, once in a while a wide shot) and record each one at a time. So every angle you see is a different save. This gets hard because camp characters change clothing. Now that we can change that, it should be easier. It wasn't possible last year or so. Or at least, no one could figure it out. We make these cinematics and episodes because we want to show everyone that doesn't play video games be able to enjoy the game as a cinematic series. It had been an idea by many but only us and a couple others have tried. Its very very time consuming and we hope one day to do it full time. But at the moment its just a side project. We intend to do the whole game. But this could take years
@@TheRedDeadRedemption2Show That is incredible how much time and effort you guys put in to make it possible. That is definitely the reason you do not see more people try (including me haha. I might try to make some short films or something like that but I will not hold my breath that they will ever actually happen or if they do they will be any good.) but it is nice to know someone is putting in the work to get something out there for the masses that would love the story but do not give it a chance because they do not play games. I genuinely think that this game is one of the best stories ever told in any medium so it is a shame that so many write it off just because it is a game. I hope you are correct that it will gain traction after the new episode because I know for sure the reason for this whole project not being big is not because no one cares or you are doing a bad job, but because of the YT algorithm, which is a shame. I have Red Dead all over my feed and it did not pop up until specifically started searching for things that were barely beating around the bush of your channel. Do not get disheartened, though, because I can see this thing popping off at some point. Also, because I have people in my life that I want to show the story and cannot if it never gets finished haha. But seriously, from what I have seen, I do not think it could be in better hands to get the job done. I wish the process could be shorter but you can't rush quality and I'd rather have a masterpiece RDR2 show that takes 10 years to make then a shoddy fan edit made in a few months, which yours is definitely the former and not the latter.
@@brendanlove9739 we all have to start somewhere 🤠 our first couple episodes are not great lol. But we learned over time and now it's gotten to a point to where it really feels like a series.
