    Heat guns can not reach the temperatures needed for a reflow. Even if they could a reflow would not fix the issue.
    The yellow light of death means general hardware failure and could be a number of different things. You can read the syscon error codes to get a better idea of what the specific problem is. The most common problem is a the GPU itself dying due to a design flaw in the original 90nm RSX GPU, the only fix for this is to replace it with the 40nm found in the slim ps3.

    • @fasttechvideo
      @fasttechvideo  Год назад +4

      I agree that the best way to find out the problem is using SYSCON but, most YLOD issues are caused by a bad GPU/CPU or solder issues under the chips. Thanks for your comment :)

      @@fasttechvideo no you don't get it, a heat gun CANNOT fix the ylod, and even if you did, then why have you left your video up, confusing more and more people, you are making your company responsible for the destruction of thousands of ps3s across the world, a true syscon diagnosis is the only way to know what is wrong with a ps3, a heat gun is not repair, it is just destruction, and the worst part is your video has now gotten to the point where I have started seeing more and more heat gunned boards that I have had to consider unfixable because they became damaged beyond all repair. Please take this video down and do a proper ylod repair guide by doing a syscon diagnosis and seeing the error codes, if you can't fix the console so be it, but don't say a heat gun is the guarenteed fix for ylod because like many people here will say to you, IT IS NOT!!!

      @@Nascar1243 I realize this is almost a year past but what made it work if a heat gun can’t do a reflow? I’m trying to fix my E01 but I don’t really want to check SYSCON the hard way as I’ve never soldered before. I also don’t want to pay an arm and a leg for a chip swap.

    • @Nascar1243
      @Nascar1243 14 дней назад

      @@mrnoodle3777 a heat gun is physically incapable of actually reflowing a gpu. At most you are just heating a chip, fixing a bumpgate defect and it is only a bandaid fix. The chip replacement is really the only true fix for the YLOD due to GPU Failure or 3034 in the syscon logs. There is no other easy way around it. The bumps that break inside the chip melt at 300c and before you melt those you would destroy the board so it isn’t possible.

    I really live the videos however the constant plugging of products makes it really hard to follow along. like explain everything that you are doing and once your done doing that then plug your products. don't plug them mid explanation. also slow down some so people can digest what you said. talking nonstop makes information go in one ear and out the other. I do really enjoy the videos but they're just so hard to digest because the constant talking with little pause and the relentless plugging. well still buy your products even if you plug them only twice in a video.

    Yes you are right, reflow is not a permanent fix, that’s wishful thinking,
    for permanent fix both a (reballing for the BGA, AND use of eutectic bump for the die), or if they keep using the high-led bumps they should have changed the undfilling to a high Tg underfill instead of the Namics 8439-1, which they did withe the late versions of slim and super slim, truth to be told, they build it wrong, the most important variant \model of the ps3 😢
    It was a faulty manufacturing standard at the time that effected Xbox, Play Station, Toshiba laptops and other like Nvidia GTX cards 6000, 7000 and some early 9000 series
    Knowing this now, that heat did something there, but since the under-filling is the same for those high-led bumps, it will give you YLOD again soon
