  • We had unfinished business in Ireland after completing the Wild Atlantic Way in two parts. On that tour we discovered lots of amazing rides we didn't get a chance to explore so we promised we would come back and ride as many as we could. This short "Not The Wild Atlantic Way" tour will take us back to The Healy Pass because it's such an awesome road to ride and then the following day takes us to the amazing Gap of Dunloe and we finally get to ride the famous Slea Head Drive around the Dingle Peninsula (which is actually part of the WAW but we couldn't ride it last time due to a road closure).
This episode takes in some fascinating Viking history, some pretty awful weather, a dropped bike some great Guinness and finishes at the top of the stunning Healy Pass!
We hope you enjoy it and please feel free to share, comment and thumbs up if you feel inclined. Thanks for watching!

This brings back memories of my trip to Ireland in 2022, my gift to me for my 70th. Good organised tour so didn't have to worry about route planning or accommodation etc. Dressed for rain as that is what my weather app said. Turned out be very sunny and hot. Oh, and Sue, you have now joined the clud. We've all done it - so easy manouvering a low speed. Gravity is not your friend. Looking forward to the next episode.

Thanks very Paul - Ireland is such a great country to ride through! Our first tour surprised us with glorious weather and our second with horrible rain 🤷‍♂️ yesterday, we’ve all dropped our bikes at some time or another - certainly can’t stop them when they’ve reached the tipping point! 😂😀👍

Thanks for a great episode. I’ve always wanted to visit Ireland so really enjoyed the chance to go along with you. Anybody who's ridden more than a short time has dropped their bike. It’s best to do it as you did: zero mph. Thanks again.

Thumbs up before I even watched it! 2 thumbs after I watched it! Another solid road video from Brian and Sue ( most lovable drowned rats!) . Loved the last sequence under ominous clouds( they were ominous all through) and the extraordinary landscape with Sue standing as Queen of the Hill in victory pose, , letting us know she put the dropped bike incident behind her. By the way, in 2021 I dropped my brand new 1250 GS a half hour after leaving the showroom…..talk about scratched egos 😅. Thank you for another wonderful presentation and braving the elements…greetings from Berlin ( couch potato modus), Jim

It's great to see you returning to Ireland, I did exactly the same in July!
I, too, missed a few key passes last year and felt it necessary to get back and tick them off my list. I enjoyed the Healey pass so much I had to ride it multiple times!!!
Really appreciate you sharing your experiences, it is a great motivator to get out and ride.

It's a shame the weather wasn't completely with you. Love the look of Healy Pass, Carol & I must do Ireland one day. The spa hotel looked a lovely place to relax. Hotel motorcycle parking should always be on the flattest area, but offen is just in an awkward area where they can't get a car in.

One place I always suggest when your in and around Glengarriff is Priests leap it can be a bit technical especially in the wet,not for the faint hearted. I had a recent Viking experience in Copenhagen, £19.62p for two small Danish beers.
Most have dropped or been close to dropping their bike at some time, you live and learn, another enjoyable journey to watch while I'm sat at home with my feet up in my man cave.
I was hoping to get the Ducati out this weekend but just had a severe weather warning on my phone so that's not going to happen.

Lovely video guys...the Healy Pass is a favourite of mine. If you ever go back the road from Rosslare that takes you on the Passage East ferry and along the Copper Coast is a joy. And the R600 you rode from Kinsale is fab..going all the way to Clonakilty. Stopping for a coffee in the garage doesn't sound great, but when the views from the picnic tables outside the garage in Glengariff are that good it's perfectly fine! I always stop there. Great stuff, look forward to seeing the next episode..hopefully the weather is kind! Cheers Steve

Firstly i really enjoy your travel vlogs , that said one tiny little criticism…. As you guys have a very popular channel i thought that this vlog could put off some of your non European viewers visiting Ireland as it kinda came across like the appalling weather there was specific to Ireland when in actual fact the whole of the U.K was getting battered with rain and wind the whole of Spring and Summer and had the worst ‘ summer ‘ i can recall in my 55yrs …. That aside ….. lovely roads and a smashing place to ride 👍🏼

Sorry to mention it again but Sue really does need to cancel her indicators far sooner after turning a corner, even if they are self cancelling they are not doing it quickly enough to avoid confusion for other road users. It happened again in this video after a right turn you approached a left turn with the right indicator still flashing (close to where you waited for the man and his young girl to cross) As an advanced police driver this is meant as advice and a pointer towards some advanced training. Not all supposed aids are infallible. Cancel your indicators manually don't rely on electronics.

    • @midlifemotorcyclediaries
      @midlifemotorcyclediaries  День назад +1

Hi Kevin, you’re absolutely correct, of course. They are self cancelling but it can take a while. Ironically, I got into frequent trouble with my trainer for focusing on cancelling my indicator at the expense of other things and actually fell off my 125 in my very early training days because I was so keen to cancel my indicator that I dropped the clutch and pulled a very inelegant wheelie - not a good idea on the main A509 🤦‍♀️
I am usually pretty good - I guess Bri just failed to edit my rate crimes from this one 😉Thank you for your very useful feedback - and for watching our adventures. 👍
