That red estate reminds me of a 1600cc VW Variant, 1971 according to the registration. Notice the vents at the back to allow the 4 cylinder air-cooled engine some form ventilation. The owner must’ve chucked on a different steering wheel when not having obtained an original item. Wishing all Dobbsters a lovely 🥰 Sunday, Cheers Monika and Freddie
Hi Freddie as you probably have been told that Red beaten up old car is a VW type3 1600 Variant from the early 70's it has had none original lights put on it. Happy riding :)
Great video. Minor point but thought worth mentioning that Princess Anne is Queen Elizabeth II’s daughter, not her sister. She’s the sister of the King.
Have to admire anyone that can live and stay sane in a city, especially London. My wife and I were talking about this yesterday, and since moving to Cornwall, we feel so much less stress about driving and riding around, and whenever I visit my parents and have to drive around in a city, it all feels so oppressive, with many aggressive drivers racing round, beeping horns, revving engines. I feel blessed to be living somewhere where there’s just none of that anxiety to deal with.
Hello Freddie, I'm from Vietnam and I've watched your videos for almost a year and your channel is just pure awesome. I have a Rebel 500 and I'm always craving to have a larger CC bike, but your video about speed 400 has changed my mind completely, just enjoy whatever kind of bike you have and enjoy your life. Every morning I go to work, your video is the first thing I put up on my PC screen, its not even my job loll. Keep it up Freddie !
hi Freddie, the police escort was the Metropolitan police Special Escort Group, engaged on a Royalty movement! They are the only full time fully armed escort unit in the u.k. . I was a member for ten of my 34 yrs service in the Met. They are all advanced riders and most love riding in their spare time 👍 Good video as usual
Had my Speed 400 for 4 months. Love the way you can flick it around bends. Have done over 6000 km on open roads and getting better than 30km per litre, or 80mpg. Amazing bike.
Freddie, it's a VW Variant my Dad had one in white. The front bumper is not dissimilar to the VW Beetle. Nice views as always and weather looks like it's holding up for the time being. 👊
Freddie (and Monika), it is quite remarkable what you have achieved with videography and content in general - exemplary! Those Monika's giggles in the background are funny :)
Gold Top need to make the magnetic man bag big enough to get Freddie's gear and a new bag of coffee beans in! Might be proper useful then. Thanks Freddie always a pleasure😁
Good Morning Freddie, thank you for taking us along and into London. I was impressed you could walk around safely in White Chapel. I don’t remember the model, but the red car looked like an old Volkswagen Estate car from the late 60’s or early 70’s.
Freddie, I live in Sydney, Australia and am seeing sooooo many of these 400s around, Triumph really have nailed it. Can’t wait to watch more of your adventures on it.
I'm so impressed with you and Monica; the RUclips channels alone are impressive, and I'm sure hugely time consuming, but you're not content with just that; the tool rolls and now the book really show your entrepreneurial spirit and neither of you are afraid of hard work that's for sure 💪🏼😎

Nice video, great apartment . The car you were looking at is a VW 411 model from the early 70's , VW had 3 versions . The estate car , a fast back and a notch back( a typical sedan) only came with 2 doors a 4 speed and very early fuel injection by Bosch. They were a night mare to keep running correctly. I believe the earliest models may have come with carburetors . I am very interested in the Triumph Speed 400 , but am hearing that many have electrical issues. I think I will wait for the next years version and hope they get it sorted.
Beautiful video as always Freddie! Also, I like your shirt. Looks very elegant. Always dapper Freddie! I love it. P.S. You gotta do a collab with Matt from CLASSIC RIDES! You just have to.
Ohh how I have missed these videos, Whitechapel has some amazing history, Dark but intriguing all the same. Gun proof building is so interesting also and Kudos to "Freddie the viewer" on saving your bike helmet 👏
Freddie, great vid. I ride a Multistrada here in the uk but hired a the 400 on holiday in Portugal, Soulfulbikes in Faro, great company and excellent bike. 10/10 for both. Hope your well. A
I used to love riding around London on my motorbikes in the 80's. Great fun and so easy to get around. Thanks for the vid. I shall be jumping on my Speed 400 later today - alas not in London! (BTW, I almost get 90mpg)
Freddie Great vlog. Fantastic bikes I prefer the scrambler version though. The Elephant man was born in Leicester but died in Whitechapel where he lived. Quality Sunday morning cup o tea viewing young sir 👌
Nice to see Whitechapel even if only a little bit of it. My Gt Grandmother lived in one of the alleys where one of the Ripper's victims was found and my mother was a nurse at the London Hospital in WW2. Used to be able to get the best salt beef sandwiches in the High Street. The TS400 looks like a nice machine but I think I'll stick with my 350 Meteor.

This is exactly why I ordered a Speed 400 in black, best value for money, great looking, and it’s a Triumph, quality and engineering of the very best, just unfortunately I have to wait until another 6 weeks for mine to arrive
*VW 1500 Variant* , in Feuerwehr Red. It was later fitted with a 1600cc motor and called the 1600L Variant, or Squareback in US. It has the Boot under the bonnet, and the air-cooled Motor at the back under the Boot, hence the cooling slits in the side wings at the back. It was built from 1961 - 1976 and was very popular with the German Fire Brigade (Feuerwehr), which makes me presume that because of the colour, this is probably an ex Fire Brigade example. I was the proud owner of a white one from 1975 to 1978. Very reliable, very robust, very noisy and it had a 0 to 60 in about 3 and a half days! Having said that, I loved It, and would gladly have one today.. * If you are reading the comments to find out what car this is, several have commented on it, but only *shremich4583* has got the facts 100% right.
Hi Freddie, great vid! I actually got a tank bag at the same time as you. I had been looking at Trip Machines website at their panniers and other luggage things. And when looking on eBay for Trip machine things, I found a used for 2 seasons tank and tail bag (which is their bigger tank bag) for 90$ canadian being sold by a gent in the US, new price is about $250 canadian + duty and shipping from india! I reckon I saved close to $200 canadian for a bag that only has about a year of wear, and trip machine products can last a lifetime if taken care of.
I have the same feelings with the Meteor 350. It's not just getting back my freedom to go when and wherever I want to go, but it costs buttons compare to public transport. Inspired by your videos, we went to a London-Arundel-Rye-London trip this August and the trip cost less than £20 (this would have been £250 by trains). So the hotels were practically free. :)
Nice film, I used to work in Whitechapel, great area, the history is so rich you can smell it. Jack the Ripper accounted for at least five victims.Tbe car is a VW Type 3 (very trendy right now) and Princess Anne is the King's sister. Would you like me to fact-check this book before it comes out?
Great video Freddie 😀 Also I saw a Brand New Triumph Scramble at Tesco this morning really beautiful Bike , Very expensive as i think they are like £10 grand new
Hi Freddie, smaller lighter bikes don't you just love them , I have a royal Enfield 350cc meteor really love this machine, so very comfortable, so easy to ride , great little bike, but also I have a 2023 Triumph speedmaster 1200cc much bigger heavier machine but also very very comfortable beautiful 😍 looking bike better on the open roads, really like having the choice of the two machines, if people can afford it great having the two.
I like the little tank bag. It could do with being big enough to take a novel. Not keen on the Triumph. 8:24 Not too pretty. Ridden through Whitechapel so many times, but I didn't live far from there. The usual slick video. Nick
I spent 2 1/2 years driving round London from 2008 repainting traffic lights, the sights you see. A Konigsegg sports car, Bugatti Veyron were the two rarest beasts. Members of the Royal family including them Queen and Prince Phillip, Camilla as well as various celebrities. At first there was the novelty of seeing famous landmarks and buildings, like streets from the Monopoly board, but eventually the constant traffic wears you down. I still remember during into London past the natural history museum at 6 am one summer morning when the was little traffic and the rising sun was lighting up the building with a glorious warm glow, a memory that will stay with me always as well as a journey that could take 20 mins at certain times of the day that would take two hours at other times. It was an experience but I’m glad I don’t have to deal with it anymore.
I have a tiny tank bag on the Fantic - it’s fixed so can’t be removed-but it’s amazing what I can fit in there. I carry a small can of tyre foam, my phone, my wallet, a small disc lock, the garage keys and some ear plugs.
Whitechapel wouldn't be my favourite part of London, has always had a crime problem. Brick Lane is ok though I suppose. But try heading just a bit south the other side of the A11 to Wapping and some great pubs there on the river with loads of history....if you are in East London again....I guess you've been to the BikeShed show at Tobacco Dock, Wapping so maybe you know that area already. Or else head a tad west, the other side of Commercial Rd to Spitalfields Mkt which I'm sure you would love...some great coffe and food places there. Great video as always btw. Thanks Freddie
My kriega 9 litre shoulder bag goes with me whenever I leave the house, bike or not. Perhaps you could make/market something similarly useful? The car is an air cooled 1600cc VW Variant. Very desirable now, and rare. Running in the Himalayan 450 is doing 92mpg. Perhaps not realistic normally, but shows what you can achieve. Ride safev👍
Its a 1971 VW type 3 squareback . One lives round the corner from my house in Melbourne Australia. We don't salt the roads here, so plenty of old cars survive here.

Freddie, please reply to this, did you buy/receive that gorgeous little leather bag from Goldtop ? I badly need one in my life. How nice of the other Freddie for saving your helmet and great to meet a subscriber. That 400 is a perfect urban machine, well done Triumph.

Ahhh thank you! I would never have guessed this😳
Look closely at the rear quarter panels with the air ducts, they have an air cooled flat 4 same as the Beetle.

Freddie, please reply to this, did you buy/receive that gorgeous little leather bag from Goldtop ? I badly need one in my life. How nice of the other Freddie for saving your helmet and great to meet a subscriber. That 400 is a perfect urban machine, well done Triumph.
I dont even have motorbike or drive license for one, but love watching your channel!
More and more I want a Truimph 400! 🆒😎👍🇿🇦
