    Can you do a segment specifically on international adoption please, how long is the process

      A session on international adoption would be appreciated. When adopting from Jamaica for the USA, you are told that you must strip the parents of their parental rights and not let the biological parents give consent to the adoption, as this child will not be considered an orphan for immigration to the USA. Please explain the 2 scenarios.

      @@rihannahwilliams5295 The USCIS has specific requirements for adoption. For further information, it may be more useful to make direct contact with the USCIS using their website uscis.gov. You may also make contact with the adoption unit in Jamaica by sending your query to adoption@childprotection.gov.jm.

    The Social Worker would have to be a License Social Worker in the country. The Home Study is to determine if the person who wants to adopt is suitable.

    Yes and how is it treated if one parent cannot be located. As in the Jamaican father's that don't get involved in the children's lives.

    Yes the child will have the surname of the adopted parents. They may keep the Christian name. The previous Birth Certificate will be sealed off at RGD and the adoptive Certificate will be issued.
