Jokes aside, I think the man's head is a gramophone because Yuuka don't want to remember his face due to the ending of the story, so he's just a voice in Yuuka's memory.
That part where he says Yuuka's smile is beautiful hurts the most when you remember that people canonically consider her smile to be terrifying enough to run away from, and the fandom usually takes that aspect of her character and runs wild with it Finally Yuuka had someone she could say she cared about, and who said they loved that smile of hers that drove everyone else away. And not only was she unable to do anything to keep him from dying on the day she decided she wanted to be nice to him, his last wish was for her to kill him and make it look like she enjoyed it. But perhaps in a twisted way, she did spoil him like she had planned to. She granted one of his ridiculous requests for the first time, and it was also his very last one The one person who ever loved her for who she was changed her, but also made her forever unable to stop being who she was to everyone else. That's poetic. Damn, can you imagine what the other people in Gensokyo must have thought about Yuuka when they found that dude's corpse? That she was so ruthless that she would crush the head of someone who apparently got critcally wounded fighting people who badmouthed her. Her act of love gets twisted into another tale of how scary and inhumane she is I also need to mention this other commenter who speculated that the dude's head is a grammophone because Yuuka only wants to remember his voice, and not his face. Because of what he asked her to do to that face in the end. Beautiful analysis. Also that really brings on the feels. Forget Osana Reimu, the Flandre angst doujins, Concealed the Conclusion and all the other sad Touhou fanworks, this mediocre animation is the most emotional and profound one I've seen yet, and the only one that actually made me feel sad after seeing it more than once
What a lad, what a legend. I fairly relate to the bloke, and although that should be a bad thing, I'm finding comfort in it, actually. "Oh, I just tripped there" love his way of taking the piss of a serious, life ending situation "A human adapted to despair. Maintains his ego by giving into despair. Accepts any disaster and laughs."
so its 2 am in my country and im watching this im gona now go to bed and think about my life and everything else... and the only conclusion i get is im the same as he but he have something i dont have i i dont think i will get somebody that i love

One of the most fundamental aspects to Yuuka's character is that she is very strong and likes picking on people weaker than her literally for giggles. The fandom likes to run wild with this idea and make her a sadistic monster who delivers brutal beatings to weaklings. So could there be any fan story potentially more interesting than one where she meets someone whose very ability makes them forever weaker than her and forms a bond with them? In the face of a person she should theoretically have no patience for, she discovers she has a sliver of sympathy for those weaker than her after all... Yuuka must have been left questioning her way of living after stepping on the gramophone man like she always does, only to be left with a handful of regrets. It's very clever and a pretty new take on her character in this fandom for sure
I feel like I’m looking at Kumagawa, this totally feels like something Kumagawa would do, isn’t that like Kumagawa whole thing too? Being weaker then everyone? I feel like him trying to date Op women is going to be a recurring theme. And it feels like it would make sense for said Op women not to remember his name or face. Guess Kumagawa died a loser after all, Rip you mad man.
It's a lonely, sad life, being a gramophone.
This is the saddest story about a gentleman with a gramophone for a head I've ever seen.
Random Gentleman the story you never knew!
Jokes aside, I think the man's head is a gramophone because Yuuka don't want to remember his face due to the ending of the story, so he's just a voice in Yuuka's memory.
Wow that's actually really clever
"Hey. Why do you insist on me so much."
Obviously it's because you're best girl.

A gentleman with a phonograph head who wields a spoonblade as a weapon...
I swear, these artist impressions are getting weirder by the second...
Yet it is beautiful.
though this is very late, i think its a close similarity in style to the monogatari series.
lol weebs
I came here expecting lighthearted silliness, I didn't ask for these feels!
1:48 UNLIMITED SPOONBLADE WORKS!!!
Final Fantasy Reference
This is a really touching tale. I like having Yuuka seen in this way. It's a really good story~
I tought you hate earthling?
@@gullinkambi3600 Yeah You're right! After what she did to Earth in KKHTA! She is the very embodiment of evil!
@@polarisnotok4943 her sister is more evil

"A human adapted to despair. Maintains his ego by giving into despair. Accepts any disaster and laughs."
That was pretty good actually.
Unexpected feels. If the guy had a normal head, and the story was remade into a short high quality fanime...
No boat in Gensokyou? WHAT ABOUT FUTO-SANS' NICE BOAT????
AND MURAS'S BOAT TO! (i guess..)
...and komachi's ferry service?
I like this kind of romance. If its set in a (typical) fantasy world, then this is the perfect type of tragic romance backstory for a character.
I thought it be something funny, but i got a sad ending instead.
SAME
Is that a Spoon-blade? Hold on to your butts, folks.
Boomblox5896 *Forks
Now I think I know why I like Yuuka soo much!
Same here
4:02 i'd be afraid of a walking gramophone who wields a comically large spoon too you know
something about this reminds me of the monogatari series
same
i think it's because the music and the dialogues
I feel I should rethink my life a little bit now...
One of the reasons why I like Yuuka and she become my second in my top 10 Touhou characters after Meiling.
The life of the Gramophone Man resonates with my own....
Very nice one, almost cried though :/ gotta love yuuka
I was expecting a comedy and I got a tragedy
It's always the ones you don't expect that get you the most
expecting full blown joke
got feel instead
Loved this.
It was interesting.
I cried dammit, that was so sweet T-T
Yup, it looks like a video from the 2013, with an extraordinary history
this is such a good animation for 2014 said it got so little views
I found myself attracted by the BGM more than the actual story.
The story's good though.
At least Youmu is the right person to hug over stepping incidents..
I didn't need my heart broken like this
so its 2 am in my country and im watching this im gona now go to bed and think about my life and everything else... and the only conclusion i get is im the same as he but he have something i dont have i i dont think i will get somebody that i love
This hits different in 2022
This hits hard, damn...
This is really cool, has this person made more mmds ? Im kinda curious

I haven't despaired. I've simply lost my faith in reality. Perhaps I'll be forgotten...?
The feels bro
This guy is completely nuts.
Almost sounded like Good Loser Kumagawa but it actually isn't.
Life is hard when you have a phonograph for a head
It was beautiful...
But how do you lot a quite bit of blood?
Fixed, thanks.
3:40 xD
It's sad enough to make a grown man cry
This was quite an interesting story
Getting stepped on by Yuuka sounds weird...
I'm kinda sad now :'(
One must ask what could've possibly driven a man to write a story like this.

3:04 TRIGGERED!!! That's almost as bad as saying there's no bus/train in Gensokyou! Yuuka-tan!

Checked the creators profile page this guy was definitely based off Kumagawa misogi! Fucking called!
He likes spooning.
but you can't say he likes forking around

What the hell lol
He's a little weird 0-0
At the end
(Why tf did I said that!?😱)
Who killed him ?
Some random youkai probably. It was probably a decently strong one since it had the guts to talk crap about Yuuka, albeit behind her back
