A good tip about burning the tag ends, I've always done it. Tag ends have always been around, I'll trim them with a blade or as stated burn the really short ones. I use B50 Dacron, and actually consider a few tag ends sort of a bragging point, yes I make my own, thank you very much! Spare string on a shoot? Don't leave home without it. Great video, thanks.
I can honestly say the one area that I have absolutely no knowledge of in archery is strings, and now you ruined that for me. Never heard of, or knew what a tag end is. Now i do! I will say this about your strings, Yours is the only ones I have ever used that does not have have these!
My strand lengths are all the same, I don't even bother staggering them on the strings I make. As a result my splice is neat till it gets to the tags ends, which come all at once. The transition from the splice is a bit abrupt but it's not an issue. I've found that doing them this way eliminate much of the tag end "fraying" associated with staggered strand splices. Regardless, tag ends aren't a bug of the Flemish twist, they're a feature (staggered strands or not). Would very much like to see you go through your process of string making in a video, to compare and contrast methods. Great vid, how's the Signature Series bow going? Did you fit lighter limbs?
Okay, that wasn’t cool. I’ve been playing your videos to keep me company while I bottle my latest (Irish ale brewed by an American of Scot descent - quite the combo!). Except now I’ve had to pause because your intro has caused me to spit beer all over my kitchen! 😉😉😉
Pro-tip: if you're leaving them just apply a fuckton of beeswax (A proper one, not that 70% synthetic bullshit in tube that costs 10 times as much as a whole brick on craiglist) and "twist them" so they're aligned with the rest. Gonna stay there forever :v
Lovely little gem of a video which has made me even more excited about my grizzly string arriving. Great to see you making regular content again Jim!
Jim, thanks for tag-ends us along :-). I think a clean look is so much better looking and we all know they shoot faster/better. Thank you.

When i make a Flemish string I now run a serving over the splice...it looks neater and prevents tag ends coming loose.
great idea

Thanks grizz 🧡

That sticker could have been applied with a lot more force. I believe you were lucky it wasn't. 😁

True tradsters don't worry about such silly matters!! They worry about their socks matching the plaid!! Duh
