As others have said "Black Dog", which is audio only as it was a sound check that was recorded and to counter that brilliant rock performance, then check out John's live operatic performance with Anthony Warlow of "Granada". Amazing powerful duo singing and vlowning around on stage too. There is nothing John Farnham can't sing.
Absolutely! Dobbs Franks and the entire MSO are reported as having had a blast playing with John and the band. Some of them have said that they were on a positive high for several days afterwards. Dobbs passed away in July 2023 at the great age of 90. He was a graduate of the famed Juilliard School of Music, an American who had a long career, often in conducting opera, including a long time in Australia. RIP Raymond Dobbs Franks.
The keytar player, David Hirschfelder, went on to earn a couple of Academy Award nominations in the late 90s for film scores, as well as a slew of other awards like BAFTAs, ARIAs and APRAs.
What you do no yet know about John Farnham is that he sings in OVER TWENTY GENRES ! ! ! 'Farnsey' is a consummate, charismatic, professional showman. He only has the BEST in his band. He also sings a number of songs with messages for the greater good in the world. We love John !
Now you know why we call him The Voice in Australia. Farsney can sing any genre! I second the sound check of Black Dog absolutely amazing, you should also check out When the war is over from the last time tour, he is in his 50’s and his voice will blow your your mind!!!
John is our Aussie legend and a bit of larrikin. He is funny (lots of dad jokes) and many say he could have been a comedian. He can sing any genre. You will get many suggestions a lot will forget his country songs like talk of the town. He was in LRB for about 4 years, there's a whole story there. Many say he could sing the phone book. Well he actually has sung Old McDonald farm for a children's charity and it's fun to watch. He has done a lot of charity and benefit concerts. There's a deep dive there he has had hit records in the past six decades. Just celebrated his 51st wedding anniversary.
I love all of John's performances but this one stands out purely for the joy factor. I've never seen an orchestra conductor look so fricken' happy! It was great seeing you match that energy with your reaction. Thanks for doing this one!
Yes. This is the same concert as the You're The Voice (with the bagpipes). Bon Scott originally sang this song. He also played the bagpipes. There is an AC/DC version live in Melbourne, Australia on the back of a truck. Well worth watching.
I love watching John perform. He is simply the greatest. There has never been anyone like him and there probably never will be. He is truly one of a kind.
No one in the world is quite like our John. He's never been afraid to tackle any genre, and he has always mastered them. I've been to dozens of his concerts over 50+ years, and I've always walked away from each concert with my mind totally blown. I've never heard him sing a bad note, and I've never heard him sing anything that I didn't love, even when he sings in a genre that I don't particularly like. If you want to hear him rock out again, I suggest you react to either 'ALL OUR SONS AND DAUGHTERS' or 'PLAYING TO WIN' live from the Chain Reaction concert. Always react to him in a live situation. His studio albums are great, but live is where you get to see what John is really capable of.
John leads the materclass in voical ability and stage presence and his band isade up of some of the best musicians in Aus. And you honestly ain't t seen nothing yet. John and his band are chameleons. And each of his albums had a different "flavour" whe he was younger, definitely more pop and old school rock and roll. Then mostly soulful rock and some heavier rock, the old power ballad, beautiful love songs, some country with some musical theatre thrown in. Even a bit of operatic fun. As he got older, more jazzy, bluesy, soul, but always the power and total control of his voice. So.e other heavier rock music is his cover of Led Zeplins Black Dog and one of my favourites, his own song, All Our Sons and Daughters
I’ve had the pleasure of seeing John in concert, he’s a national treasure in Australia. He is a genuinely nice guy with a great sense of humour, we love him down under. Do your self a favour add the album “Whispering Jack” to your playlist it’s amazing!
If you watch his autobiography movie that was released, you will see this song actually really rings true to his entire career. He really did experience and go through it all.
He covers Stevie wonder too! His acapella version of loves in need with his band is perfection - like all of his performances tbh 😂❤️❤️❤️ More rock style songs: -playing to win (he co wrote that) - all our sons and daughter (he co wrote that too) - let me out (he wrote/co-wrote) And so many more 90s awesomeness. Do more from John, he’s been performing for over 50 years so there’s so so much great music and genres from him to choose from and every John performance is 100% plus, the goat.

@jayneattherock1083 actually I was just thinking you may know - are there any recordings of John in Grease in 2005 as Teen Angel? I can't find anything except a poster. ❤️
I don't know if anyone has mentioned this but AC. DC never plyed Long Way To The Top after Bon Scott died as a mark of respect. John would definitely have had their permission to do it.❤
Black Dog. Please. If you don't know it, or haven't heard it in a while, listen to the original first & then listen to Farnsey (NB there is no known video of it, just the still shot & the voice)

I will be returning to DEVO sometime in December! I've got all the albums I'm exploring planned out ahead of time and add to the list as my journey moves forward. I'm going through them in chronological order and anticipate doing an album of theirs a month.

He can sing Country…check out Talk Of The Town…and Opera with Anthony Warhol (Australia’s King of Opera) singing Granada…and then there’s Gethsemane when John played Jesus in the rock opera Jesus Christ Super Star… he can sing anything!
It's a long way to the shop if you want a sausage roll !!
Yes, the 'Help' and You're the Voice' reactions you did were all from this same concert - 'Classic Jack' with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, 'Help' and 'Long way to the Top' were both encores, The whole concert was great, but then again, all of Johns concert are great, - from a different concert, you might also like John's cover of Alice Cooper's 'Only Women Bleed, 1994 'Talk of the Town' tour - ruclips.net/video/8yQXz2v-aZc/видео.html, enjoyed your reaction, thankyou
Look for Dr Kaps remastered version of Only Women Bleed - she did a phenomenal job. 🤩
@@AussieDebb That's the one I posted, yes, can hear what John says before the song in this one. 😊
@@jayneattherock1083 Yes and I love how he introduces this song and we should be using this today. Love our John 😍❤️
@jayneattherock1083 actually I was just thinking you may know - are there any recordings of John in Grease in 2005 as Teen Angel? I can't find anything except a poster. ❤️
@@AussieDebb Can't help you there. sorry,
Look for BLACK DOG. It was a sound check before concerts
Love this version you might like John and the bands version of black dog.
I don't know if anyone has mentioned this but AC. DC never plyed Long Way To The Top after Bon Scott died as a mark of respect. John would definitely have had their permission to do it.❤
He can do Opera as well.
think that's nuts, listen to his version of led zep's black dog, only a sound check recorded with audio only
Black Dog.
Please.
If you don't know it, or haven't heard it in a while, listen to the original first & then listen to Farnsey (NB there is no known video of it, just the still shot & the voice)
You want energy - watch 'Playing to Win'. The Melb Symphony Org version is better quality also.
Listen to his cover of Led Zep's Black Dog....even better
I don't catch the streams. Has he done the next DEVO album yet? It's been years since I've heard them and was excited to go through discography with him again
I will be returning to DEVO sometime in December! I've got all the albums I'm exploring planned out ahead of time and add to the list as my journey moves forward. I'm going through them in chronological order and anticipate doing an album of theirs a month.
Pick a genre and you can bet that John can sing it. He sings in over 20 genres, so you obviously need to listen to more of his music.
Plz react to Rosé "time spent walking through memories" its korean song but you will definitely love it
It's a long way 2 the top if u wanna chicko roll gts
