I worked with her closely, for twelve years. The bravest, most generous woman I've known. 'Somebody loves you. Gotta take care of you.' And that she did. I was watching her from the wings at the Haymarket, in London. Seventy five minutes of jugular wit. And then she went into a riff , a blinding, 9/11 riff that had her blacklisted, yet again. As she came offstage, held my face and said, "But don't you see, Kit. I'm a woman, I'm a Jew, I live in Manhattan. Unless we laugh, they've won." The bravest woman I've known. Unless we laugh, they've won.

I envy you that. I have always loved her because I felt she was truly the funniest lady comedian I've ever heard. I say Lady comedian because Jack benny was my favorite male comedian. She always struck a chord with me even in childhood. I truly loved her and I felt she was really a personal friend. Even though she wasn't, obviously. My mom loved her very much. My dad couldn't stand her because she was a strong woman in a prominent position. He was a chauvinistic man.

Joan deeply understood the expectations of an audience. She seemed to lock-on to an audience's expectations like a high-powered missile. She flirted and played and teased with the crowd. The consumate professional, Joan would always rise to the occasion. Thank you, Kit, for allowing us further insight into this complicated and greatly-loved performer. x

@@59jlopez70 Today's young people LOVE comedy. All those comedy specials on Netflix are there for a reason. Young people don't "wanna live and feel the pain." Young people have known war, they have known economic collapse, they have known global pandemic, medical suffering, they have known violence from the state, racism, human trafficking, homophobia/transphobia, and the violence that those last three carry with them... The list goes on and on. The difference is that we can imagine a world where these problems can be alleviated, and are tired of living in one where we pretend like they aren't problems.

Everything brought out about Joan Rivers in this video is every reason why she was to universally loved by those who loved life. She was an exceptional soul. Like so many say, "She is missed." The Planet Earth misses her. It misses her energy, her basic humanity, her humor. Her humor was not part of her, it encompassed all that she was. Her humor broke down boundaries between people, leaving only truth; life as it is. Humor is the stuff of life. Without it, this surely would be a place no one would want to be. I so grew out of my early confused, biased , conditioned Self at the shocking truths she would say in her inimitable style. Yes, Joan, you are so missed! 💗 💖 💘 💝 😢 😢 😢

Can you imagine if you had her in your life as a young person? I would be so grateful. I would tell her how beautiful she was too.

Johnny didn't know how to communicate with women. He didn't want to be friends with her. He wanted to be her boss.
With every depression there is a bit of paranoia and a bit of pessimism. She is a bit like Mrs Mazel.

I noticed how Carson didn't want to live on oxygen. He'd rather hang it up than be lugging a tank around with him. That says a lot to me and how he treated his exes.

I only bought 2 tabloids in my life: Dean Martin and Joan River's death.
    I admired them both.
Also, in my mind that one tabloid was the best of all them all.
I still have both tabloids in my scrap book.

Sound is cut for the interview with the blonde woman. Is that Pamela Stevenson? She must have revealed something! (That someone powerful didn't like!) If she had been a man she would have been treated so differently!
