I really like the doors so far. Lots of detail and an enormous amount of work. Just saw a picture of a boat with wooden shutters and loved them but yours will be even better. Couldn’t help but laugh thinking of someone laying on the tow path looking in upside down. I but the kids really enjoy seeming themselves on RUclips. Susan
Thankyou Susan, Yes we are really pleased with them. Hahaha yes that gave us the giggles too. Yes the kids are starting to tell people about youtube and what they do to help. They also keep coming up with ideas of stuff they could do when filming. All good fun 👍
The doors look lovely. Can't wait to see them fitted. I might be tempted to put a fine mesh behind the slots to reduce draught and keep large creepy crawlies out.
Thankyou, Unfortunately mesh gets full of dirt and debris trapped in it and starts to block up any vital ventilation coming into the boat. Because we don't want to keep taking the outside vents off to clean any mesh inside we have not put them in but maybe if needed we can attach some mesh on the outside vent with magnets that we can take on and off anytime to keep clean. We have also made fly screens (that you might see in this weeks vlog) that we could use if there were problems 👍
Really enjoyed watching you put your ideas & skills together to make those excellent doors. Proper joinery skills allowing the timber to move .Great way to keep your memories of New Zealand put to an artistic use, instead of being dust collectors in a box. Good music Keep The Faith. ✊
Cheers Andy, Yeah they took a while though 🤣. Yep we are enjoying making all the arty stuff and the finishing off. Just need to dab in and get it done now. Still really look forward to each of your episodes coming out you clever bugger. Keep em coming 👍
Those doors were a lot of work but the result is fantastic, especially the hearts. Having Those slots permanently open I hope that you don't get draughts through them.
Thankyou Tony, We are really pleased with them. Yes we have to have and need permanently open vents so that was the reason we had them put in the side door rather that the bow doors like most narrowboats do. Because we have our bed head up to the bow we didn't want any drafts in that area but in the side door it is a lovely flow of air for Nanny who is at that age where she needs a cool fan on her at all times and seasons 🤣.
Thankyou John, Yes we are glad to be back working on the boat. eh yeah we like our music too but I suppose it's a good thing that we all have different tastes, it would be a boring world if we didn't 👍
Beautiful. Yum, paua, every summer holidays, most days if the sea was calm, uncle and I would swim out and collect paua for breakfast. You had to wack the hell out of them then lightly fry. Some times aunty would batter them. We took only enough for a meal. This ended when poaches came in and cleaned every last one out. They never recovered while we still went to our beach. 😢
Thankyou, We wish we had tried them cooked in different ways. We didn't like our first and only try of them in a omelette. Will have to go back eh just to try them. That's a real shame about the poachers. Let's hope they do recover over time. I spent 6 months searching for a shell while we travelled around both islands and a couple of weeks before we headed home we found a beach in Wellington completely covered in them. They are so beautiful as is your beautiful country. Great to have a little reminder of our time there in the boat 👍
@@makinganarrowboatwithnannyandg I think the secret was from sea to plate. Keeping them they got very strong fishy taste. I can't eat the stuff you can buy. Though only tried once. Very expensive for something that doesn't taste nice.
Absolutely brilliant and for Jogs are ace some really great thought. Can I ask you the Biscuit Joiner you have do you think its a good piece of kit, I want to buy one but don't want to spend a fortune but I also want it to be good quality? Great to have you both back and some amazing work well done both of you...its always fun (love your sense of humour) and interesting to watch.
Thankyou Gary, We are pleased with them. We have only just bought the biscuit joiner for these doors and for the next few things coming up in the build. It is the first time we have used or owned one so wouldn't be able to compare to other makes but it worked well for us and was really easy to use.👍
Absolutely brilliant,loving the hearts👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thankyou Carole, They turned out well didn't they 👍
Good to have you back on and the music is lovely. Some very nice touches to the hatches.
Thankyou Dom 👍

Foiled again, just got my towpath mat out 🤣
🤣🤣🤣
There "slots" for a vent. On a car hood (bonnet) their called louvers.
LOL
Cheers Vik 👍
I thought that the shells were from one of nanny’s bikinis 🤣
🤣🤣🤣
If you put two clamps one side and one clamp the other that should keep it flat.
