@@christoskoutsis5955 Well, did she learn not to get lippy? If not, The WOMAN is to blame. But i guess you fault repairmen trying to fix broken washing mashines too?
I felt this way when my horrible teachers at Harmony Road Public School in the early 1980s did so much abuse to my friend and me. The Durham Board of Education needs to understand this kind of horrible experience me and my friends has for so long. Please understand this Durham Board of Education.
This still haunts me now as it did years ago. I remember another PSA from Ontario Women's Directorate that showed a woman in a dark room slowly walking towards a mirror, while some guy's voice whispers around. There's so much history of media still waiting to be unearthed and exposed.
@@emilycathcart7387 Yep she made it big on both sides of the border unlike any of the other PDD hosts. I think the one portraying the abusive husband is named Peter in real life. I don't think his career went far beyond this commercial.
Bruising like that around Judy's right eye suggested that she was punched by a lefty. Doug should have been holding that spatula in his left (not right) hand...in fact, the "it's just a game" guy buttered his hamburger bun while holding the knife in his left hand, and despite his initial stunned reaction at 0:39 (a normal reaction), he goes back to nonchalantly eating his burger almost immediately (trying to look innocent)? Maybe Steve is going after the wrong guy here? Dun dun dunnnnn
My wife's smacked me and threw things at me, where's my number? My buddy's wife actually hit him in the head when he was sleeping and caused some kind of brain fluid to leak out of his nose.
Obviously abuse can happen to anyone - and I'm sorry that happened to your friend - however - that isn't really the point of this particular PSA is it? Besides - it's from the 80s. This is more about nostalgia and TV. Not to start a debate on why they didn't have a similar PSA for men.
Wife abuser "Doug" was also on The Polkadot Door. For years I thought this children's host was a wife abuser! lol
I thought I'd seen him somewhere!😆
LOL! That's a bad bit of casting....
They need to bring PSA's back on tv, it's sad they don't have them anymore because they were great to set examples for kids as well as adults.
Well, at least we still see some on RUclips.
Yeah, someone might accidentally run into a PSA on RUclips and will change their ways possibly.
"Doug.....what you did is wrong" - burned into my brain as a kid.
I hate wife abuse as well as child abuse
The husband is mostly to blame

Are you serious? Teachers are allowed to abuse their students? Where is this located?
Here in the U.S. they get locked up for a very long time.

“Do you want a burger?”
“Sure”
(Commercial ends)
"So i hit em with the left hook"~ second friend
Legend has it he is still waiting for his burger
Damn straight, goddamn snake in the grass taking the ho before the bro.
Powerful ad. I forgot about this one.

I remember this!
Majority of marital abuse cases have women as victims. These days they could have had a husband version as well.
Wasn't the abusive husband on Polka Dot Door?
Yep in the early 1980's. He was often paired with the actress who went on to play Olivia on the Young and the Restless.
@@janeaton3417 Yes, that was Tonya Williams. She was also a dancer in Boogie back in the day.

Sometimes it's not man sometimes it's the woman who is beating up the man. 😓😥
That is true. :-( Just ask Johnny Depp. 😭
Then the man can leave and be victim blamed and harassed like woman are.
Yes me&my mom know guy who is being abused by his Wife so it comes both sides. 😢
I remember this one, too.
I remember this too

That’s true
Doug hates to repeat himself.
I was being abused by my former boyfriend jay
eeeeehhhhhh
I wonder what she did that made him so mad.
He had to repeat himself for sure.
If she would have just listened the 1st time, none of this would have happened.
She wouldn't peg him. I know that would make YOU mad, basedlawyer.
Kkk
My question is finally solved of why we can’t hit the feminine.
Isn’t this just domestic violence? Ngl

NO ONE is supposed to hit ANYONE!
Most domestic abuse goes both ways. They never talk about it
Well, put yourself in his shoes. Man's got a lot on his mind, and he doesn't need his wife stressing him out before the game.
"Will you be serious?!?"
EXACTLY! This, young girls. Is a LADIES MAN!
I wonder what she did to make him correct her like that
