Channels of all sizes are being branded as criminal sympathisers and receiving unjust community guideline strikes, because one of RUclips's bots can't tell the difference between a joke and terrorist propaganda.

weird that everyone is getting these I thought I was the only one and I have no clue exactly why I got the guideline strike with no way to fix it. I basically guessed and just took down a bunch of videos but I already know I need to go back and do it again. But really youtube expects a weird amount of context and doesn't note that it sees the context. literally, just timestamp things.
honestly the system is messed up, its not your context that is wrong but yt. i already commented this but my channel got suddenly deleted for no reason and without any warning, it was wiped out just like that, i filled up a form and waited, then after that they told me it was just a mistake? come on, of course it was, they using bots to do their job is clearly a mistake
I watched his video and he theorizes that it was because of 9/11 as its the only thing that could even be flagged as such.

It's something I worry about. I produce mostly educational content, my stuff is family friendly, but there are certain subjects that I'm afraid of discussing even in a documentary context in case an over-zealous bot strikes me down.
I just got an 'Age restriction content', 2 days ago, on the Remembrance of the 100th Anniv. of the Armenian Genocide. Which was uploaded 6 years ago. Simple video with a handful of pictures, some graphic and others tame, and a nice Armenian song by Serj Tankian (System of a Down). With a BIG FAT Warning/disclaimer message, for 5 seconds before the video.

Imagine if you were convicted for a crime. During trial the judge does his opening statement saying that you were convicted for homicide...and that's it. He doesn't go over what time the incident occured, what murder weapon was used, any information about the victim's body in the autopsy, nothing. You then get a guilty verdict from a lack of evidence even though none was recorded. Sound's ludicrous doesn't it, well that's what it's like when a RUclipsr has their video taken down

I feels ya. My boss' channel educates folks about authoritarian cults, domestic abuse, and coercive control. Can't tell you how many times we've been demonetized for talking about these subjects - as if we're supporting the horrible stuff, instead of warning people about it! I think you’re looking at this the wrong way. The strikes aren’t for being interpreted as being as bad as those things. It’s literally RUclips trying to silence the channel because they are in support of authoritarian cults, coercive control and probably even pedo groups. Your boss’ channel is being silenced precisely because it stands against those things.
@@metalxner5411 it's,,, a channel about how cults work. It's gonna have stuff about cults and how leaders of cults think. That way, people understand it and can notice if they are being duped into something. It's surprisingly easy to fall into something that has cultish traits, and learning about how cults work (i tend to think abt them using the BITE model) can help you think though your beliefs a bit more.

There's a RUclipsr who I watch regularly who, a couple years ago, managed to get TWO copyright strikes from Nintendo. Now, his videos contained no footage of games, nor did they contain any music. Heck. They didn't even have a title screen. The videos were literally just him, sitting in a chair, in front of his computer, kicking back, and talking about his memories growing up in the 80's and 90's. And he loves to talk about video games, and arcades. This was the entire content of these videos. TWO of these chat from a chair videos got copyright struck by Nintendo. RUclips refused to tell him why. He appealed and was rejected each time. He was a smaller channel, so he had no outlet to get help, or find out why he was copyright struck. There was no controversial topics, no language, nothing not family friendly. The only thing that the videos had in common was that he was talking about his favorite NES games that he enjoyed back in the day. He would post these videos, and within an hour or so, he would get a strike with no explanation. To this day, he has no idea why he was getting these strikes, why the appeals were rejected, and why he STILL has those strikes on his record.

Not sure how this works as I'm not a content creator, but if it's a copyright strike from a specific group/entity, would that mean that the strike was initiated manually by said group/entity, as opposed to being flagged by a bot *for* them?

I had this happen several times this year. I spent 6 months waiting on two strikes to expire and I had a good month and a half before two videos got removed that didn't get struck and a third one that did.

RUclips's "guidelines" feel about as vague and opaque as "because I said so", where there is zero evidence or justification given for applying them like this, but they will absolutely not back down or show any sort of reason of why they arbitrarily decided to enforce it.

Personally I'm leaning towards 50% general stupidity/moronic bots, 50% they're intentionally weeding out certain creators to make way for more compliant corporate channels. A recent CDC video was also flagged for containing 'false info'.

Yeah they seem to REALLY fuck with commentators the worst. CrashCourse has talked about everything from genocide to hamburger time to the worst wars and atrocities in history, but they're owned by PBS so of course RUclips isn't gonna fuck with them. WatchMojo makes entire videos of movie footage, but they have 20 million subscribers so youtube isn't gonna fuck with them, but one of my favorite channels with less than 50k subscribers got a warning for all of his videos that contained footage from the 1997 movie Titanic, so he had to delete each one, take out the footage from the movie, and then reupload each one again. It's shameful.
I just consider it to be the “RUclips agenda”, especially with that CDC thing, even though they can all screw themselves…

I can't help but think RUclips really wants they're platform to be completely run by advertiser-friendly influencers, but they know that directly killing off everyone else's channels would kill the platform.

Even though I'm not a creator, RUclips is pissing me off. Within the last years they made it harder for creators to get the revenue they deserve while also pushing advertiment. As well as their obnoxious YT Pro adverts. RUclips treats everyone like shit, yet their income increases. I hate these big companies but they buy/destroy every decent competetor, so we've got nowhere to run.
Honestly like it loves to preach about it's diverse user base and creators but does everything to censor the content that might be a little controversial while PragerU is still about. They prefer licking the boots of mobile game advertisers than the creators who MAKE THE CONTENT THAT GETS PEOPLE TO STAY
Not to mention them just slapping ads on your videos regardless of if they've been monetized or not
Let's not forget about dirty ads from these advertisers that have shown up in feeds that break the rules. But nothing is ever done to them. YT is a big hypocrite.

Good on you for speaking up about this. I remember Markiplier sticking up for another smaller creator for using a clip or something and was given a strike, but Mark himself had used the same clip and didn't. He called RUclips out on it and ended up getting a strike. Both of you got balls, guys.

Ironic how youtube recommended this video to me. RUclips only seems to want “family friendly” content nowadays, spouting “it’s for the children” bs. @@cymond I either missed that or it was in the literal last minute and a half of the video, when I started looking away from my screen to sniff a mixture of crushed up bootleg phentanyl pills and cocaine off of a tiny spoon.

I had a family member die in hamburger time. I make jokes about it myself because using humor to deal with trauma is NORMAL and I know no one is making fun of the people we lost. This makes me furious. I cannot tell you how many times I get sent hamburger time "debunking" videos by disgusting cretins. No matter how vile the content, they never get taken down. I had my whole family report one once that mentioned me BY NAME and asked for transphobia to be sent my way. @@laurencefraser With Odysee you can automatically port all your existing videos on RUclips and every upload after that will be automatically uploaded to Odysee as well. There is no excuse for content creators when they have this convenient option available. The problem will also never become better but will grow bigger and bigger the longer they wait.
It is a shame that it's so hard to make your followers move over. Just getting them to follow your second channel on the same site is like pulling teeth, so I understand the issue too well. But the reality is that if no one is willing to lead the way, nothing will ever change.
With Odysee not only do we have the porting of videos, but there are already much more creators than people think there, and as we saw with the Weinstein migration, a lot of their followers actually managed to follow them to Odysee; be that a demographic that is naturally more willing to move since they already feel alienated, yes, but it is definitely possible to make the transition and still manage the finance. Now most of the content creators on here can still continue uploading on RUclips while they try to build their new home, so it's not as dramatic as many of them make it out to be.
Earlier on in the start of the summer I tried starting a let's play series on Metal Gear Rising. I was given a community warning that the content I was posting features war and terrorism and violent organisation content (no shit in a metal gear game ). So yeah I was disappointed I couldn't record the series as I was looking forward to jamming out to the soundtrack as I play

Now more than ever content creators should be getting an archive or back-catalog uploaded to other sites like Bitchute and Odysee and then proceed to advertise that they exist so if something happens to the channel viewers know where to go for updates or just future content.
It's so frustrating that RUclips is remaining completely silent on these issues and failing to address or even acknowledge that there is an issue.
Yet all kinds of shit content like 5-Minute Crafts and their ilk just continue to dump garbage.

I think if they (RUclips) were publicly posting "this person is a terrorist" ('cause that is essentially what they are insinuating), then yeah, the content creator can sue for slander. But if RUclips are not publicly sharing this false information in some way, as in this case (I assume YT just sends the content creators a warning privately), then there's nothing that can be done. That's my understanding, anyway.

Well, there was that thing that 45 threatened to do near the end of his reign where he wanted to get rid of speech protection laws. IE, when someone said something hateful on a platform, the platform could be held responsible.
But I don't think we've had anything coming close to that recently, and it's too unrealistic of a standard to ever enforce.

The main problem is RUclips doesn't have any competition for this type of platform. So, Google basically has a monopoly with this product, which is illegal. Why is no one doing anything about this? Is it because Google has so much money? Google is a horrible company. So is AT&T, Apple, Facebook, Amazon, and Disney. I use all of these companies' products/services every day while despising the companies themselves. Well, except Apple. I find Apple to be pretty useless. But what's our alternative? If RUclipsrs find another platform to present this content on, I'll gladly follow.

Odysee's another viable alternative. More and more RUclips content creators are using it at least as a way to back up their videos in case they get taken down by RUclips. Best part about it is the backend (LBRY) is decentralized, so the company doesn't have as much control over it as RUclips has with their platform.
While it isn't illegal to hold a monopoly, it is illegal to be using your power as a monopoly to restrict smaller companies' ability to compete, and to force consumers to use your product and only your product. I don't know if that's quite happening here, but RUclips being the only viable option in the realm of video hosting sites is concerning.

I've said this before but if this continues for much longer it could legitimately be grounds for a class action lawsuit. Businesses have to meet certain consumer standards, if they don't they can get sued for it. Considering how many people now rely on sites like RUclips to make a living and the continuous, perpetual bullfuckery from RUclips when it comes to the way they seemingly enforce their community guidelines at their own discretion it's starting to look like there's a real case there. It would suck to have to go down that path but it seems like in the modern age the only way to force real change out of powerful companies is to go after their wallet.

The second another platform rises that handles stuff like this properly, I'll happily leave RUclips. It's frustrating as a content consumer to constantly see my favorite creators deal with this.
Unfortunately the main two alternatives are Bitchute (full of racists and general nasties) or Vimeo (self-explanatory). So no good contenders. Unfortunately there probably won't be either unless someone like Microsoft makes one because RUclips has run at a loss since it's founding.

Their appeals process is opaque. Pretty sure it's just an automated server that checksums %anyvalue with "Denied"
RUclips is coming off to me as so greedy that they don’t even want to hire people to review these”warnings”. I understand that this is a huge platform and having to watch every video on here is impossible but the easiest solution to this would be to have the bots identify videos with “potential risk” and have a person actually review those videos. And even then if they find that a video is a risk they should have someone else verify it just to be sure. Without creators RUclips wouldn’t exist so why make their lives so difficult. It makes no fucking sense
The RUclips algorithm sucks so bad. I keep getting recommended the same set of videos that I've already watched but not new content from subscriptions unless I had clicked the bell. No matter the number of times I click on videos' Not Interested - I've already watched, the recommendation is not updated with new content. If I had I set notification on for a channel then I get notified but also in home page repeatedly even after watching the video.

@Babba Yaaga of course he doesnt need the money from the case. Its a matter of principle and standing up for the people who cant afford to sue youtube for whats been done to them.

- I don't really care why he does it, I care about the fact that it may bring good to creators.
- Crowder is one strike away from getting his channel deleted completely, and I don't think he's actually rich enough to not care about that. However much I may disagree with him on many things, I don't think he deserves to have his channel, a big part of his life's work, completely stripped away from him.

He makes fun of literally everyone, and the jokes are in the context of political issues. You don’t have to like it, but he shouldn’t be banned for it.

It's because apparently youtube has a basilisk running the whole flagging thing... Literally from what I've heard on other channels who have had their ad revenue basically get stolen by someone claiming they were using THEIR music when that creator wasn't... And they had the music's artist's approval to use said music... It literally took forever for that creator to ACTUALLY get to speak to a real person... And more time for them to resolve the issue. Yet another content creator had someone posting their videos onto pornhub, said youtuber CONTACTED PH and they freaking clean that mess up QUICK!!! When a damn porn website has better management over the content posted than this excrement hole... There's a problem. One they will never fix... Seriously, the world needs a alternative where the content flagging is looked over by a real person... And should require specific proof. Because youtube and google will NEVER fix this.
Take the matter to the federal govt. YOUTube is operating as an employer of sorts. And refusing to pay the employee the agreed upon wages. Often They still advertise on "demonetized" videos as well. Thus they are profiting off of someones labor without compensation.
As much as everyone says to do this, you and them don’t realize how expensive it is to take cases like this into real life court. Most youtubers can’t afford doing this
