I was so pleasantly surprised by this myself! Tbh I think I prefer these lyrics to the original, even though I've loved this song all my life. This version of the song is so charming in its own ways and I truly feel like it gives a time traveling glimpse into actual medieval sailors singing the shanty while they work onboard their ship; I can almost hear the waves and seagulls haha 🌊
My mother passed away 13 yes ago on November 2nd, eight days after I turned 21. She LOVED Enya, especially this song and she loved Celtic music. She would've loved this beautiful rendition as well.

J’s mother Bethe here; I have never been this happy. I have longed for a proper sea shanty. My children and grandchildren watch “Below Deck, Sailing” and no Shanty has been sung! Growing up we sang Sea Shanties whether we were in a boat, the tub, the ocean, bay, pool, or having a good old time. And darn if I don’t sing them for fun. Good times, good times.
Hildegard is perhaps the only bardcore artists who actually picks songs that make the transition well and makes it actually sound like they were from that time period. Like I could see this being a song that exists to this day as one of the public domain songs. This is truly something. Other bardcore artists don't put in the effort like Hildegard does. Keep up the good work.

Many towns had escape routes planned for when the raiders came sailing in - up to the hills and caves, for example. Many towns had escape routes planned for when the raiders came sailing in - up to the hills and caves, for example. The Vikings carried away anything portable of value and even carried off people when they could to be sold farther along the trip into slavery.
