My stomach is in knots watching, I am 85 and headed for surgery. I have put it off for yrs until the pain is too much to bear! I hope my age will not make it worse. You gave me some hope!
Don’t understand why you would have both done at same time. I had my right one done and it really limited what I can do cause I’m right-handed. Will have left one done later.
Was the surgery endoscopic? I am having bilateral on 6-26-2024. I am so excited to finally get the surgery done and not be constant pain. My doctor said, he would only put a big strong bandage.
Crazy how the medical technology advances. My surgeon does a “micro” carpal tunnel surgery. He says it takes about five mins and I can drive the next day. Only restriction is carrying anything more than ten pounds the first week. He said I can even go back to work after a day or two of rest. However I will be waiting until atleast the sutures are out. Don’t want to rush the healing process. I type a lot (police dispatcher). Getting it done next week!
Thank you very much for doing these videos, they were very informative. Now I know what to expect. I am having both hands done in about 2 weeks. Hope my surgery and recovery goes as good as yours.
Why did they wrap it like that? I just had it done 4 days ago and all they put on mine was cotton cast wrap and a ace bandage. Mine is doing great all I'm using is a big bandage and my brace. Just curious..
I had laparoscopic CT release in both hands on 05/28/2012. I still have my stitches in place. They are coming out on the 10th of June 2021. Getting your hands wet must be avoided. If they happen to get wet dry promptly. Do not submerge hands in water or any liquid.
I'm glad you did well but I am just curious. Is there a reason why you don't give any information in any of the three videos about your post-op restrictions like HOW LONG YOU WILL BE OFF WORK and how much you can lift and how long the lifting restrictions last? That kind of information would have been very helpful.
I would've done one hand after it healed then done the other. I have one of mine done, now I'm having problems w/ the 3rd finger. Gotta do another nerve testing. Where's the hard cast for the palm of your hands???
I’m day 3 after open carpal tunnel surgery on my left hand. Pretty sore but can move my fingers ok. I’ve been told to keep my bandage on for 12 days until they take the stitches out. Hope this is all worth it. You were brave having both done at the same time!
I have my surgery on December 10th. I truly hope I have the same results as you!! I’ve been a cake artist for 20+ years and carpal tunnel for just as long, so I’m really nervous about the recovery time and going back to work. I’ve been taking Vitamins A and C to help speed up healing and plan on using CBD cream on the incision area and taking CBD oil orally. Fingers crossed!!!
I started up my own cake decorating business once my doctor approved it. I can do cakes fine, but piping for long periods of time is not fun. The ligament gets tired so fast. I don't think I could do it full time. I don't mean to scare you at all. Just being open and hones about my experience. I had a wedding cake and cupcakes just in October. Had to turn 200 cupcakes into sunflowers. I almost failed at the entire thing because my hand gave out. I don't have years of experience in decorating at all, so maybe it will be different for you. Now with that being said when I do a cake I don't hurt, and I enjoy it very much.
Dang I had to keep my bandage on for 2 weeks and zero movement. Then it went down to a thinner wrap for another 2 weeks but I also had a severe case of carpal tunnel. It's been 3 years and I never got full function of my hand back but the terrible pain I would get went away so I consider it a success.
I had combined carpal and cubital tunnel surgery on my right hand about 3 weeks ago. I had to keep a bandage wrapped up my whole arm for 2 weeks, it was torture!!!
Had my done 2 days ago. Not fun ! Motrin n Tylenol helped. When the nerve block wore off it was very painful i could have called for stronger pain med but the 2 meds helped so. Cant wait till im better
I wish I could take the bandages off after 3 days it’s very uncomfortable my follow up appointment is in 10 days and these bandages are driving me crazy!!!!!!!!!!!! I don’t see the point of waiting 10 more days 😏😔!!!
Mine were taken off a week after surgery. I was in pain up to day 3 and had no pain on day 6. I was at Dr's to remove mine. I guess in the states they do things differently.
These videos are exactly what I was looking for! Thank you.
