It says ‘add a comment’ but I don’t know what to say. I don’t understand how someone can play as she plays. It is incredible in the true sense of the word. It is a joy to behold.
When I began to play classical guitar in my 30`s I also learned how to read music. There is so much beautiful music in this world. Bach, Merula, Monteverdi, Scarlatti, Tansman... just the tip of the iceberg.

Ana Vidovic is a true gem in the world of classical guitar players!!! Excellent expression and musicality along with clean playing. And she's beautiful!!!
No doubt, this woman is a true master of the guitar and sits at the same table with Segovia, Williams, Bream, Parkening, Dyens, Barrios and all the other great guitar masters. A joy to listen to, a privilege to watch her play, a gift to us all who love the instrument and it's repertoire.
She's very close; Segovia had a ... smoothness? ... that she still needs a few more years to achieve IMO (and I don't mean she's not already brilliant).
There's a very nice recent performace at /watch?v=e26zZ83Oh6Y (with this piece about 40 minutes in), much more relaxed, *one* missed note, but just overall more fluid and fun to listen to.
~ I attended her performance this past Friday, Sept 20th in Jacksonville, FL. There aren't words in any language that express how perfect her execution is at every song played. She is currently touring and hosts a Masterclass in April 2020 in St. Louis.
Ana is incredibly good as always plus a pleasure to see and listen to her when giving hep to an upcoming player.. She is a musical gift to us all. Thank you ...Croatia
This player appreciates the dynamic range of Scarlatti that isn’t restricted by “normal” harpsichord playing, which can sound cold and unvarying in the hands of many modern pianists who think they're being "authentic." They sit there and rattle off these pieces, and even the repeats are rarely varied. And the metronome is their God. But even with the limitations of his instruments, Scarlatti appreciated strong and dramatic dynamics and register changes. Scarlatti has been adopted fully to modern instruments, and it would be wrong to somehow think everything must be a harpsichord. Heck, even harpsichords of his day were not all that limited in dynamic and tonal range. While the full range of color, light and shade, and dynamics of the piano weren’t perhaps available to the composer, do not forget: Scarlatti was inspired by Spanish songs, flamenco, and all the fire that traditional Spanish folk music brings to the dance. Thus, this expressive version on a modern guitar, with plenty of rubato and dramatic shifts in color and dynamics, is perfectly idiomatic. I would hope (and I am trying myself) that pianists treat these as color palettes of utmost expression.
Beautiful performance of a chillingly romantic Sonata by the great Scarlatti! One of my favorite pieces. Thank you for keeping this beautiful music alive Ana!
Its truly a blessing to have a God given gift to all of us that enjoy this type of music, Ana Vidovic is a treasure that should live forever, although we know that that is not possible, May God give her a long and healthy life.
Up to Ana's expected mastery of classical guitar repertoire, transcriptions, etc. Is it possible to become almost bored with such excellence? Of course not, thankfully. That Redgate, too - a bomb, if ever there was one; in the opening measures one could imagine something like Doc Watson making bravura Country magic on Martin Dreadnought. Or, something proclamatory, like a Haendel anthem? Anyway, Ana & her Redgate proceed thru all the energy & subtlety of the Scarlatti piece. Amazing performance, again. Thanks to all.
Your interpretation is spot on! Loved every nuance. I suspect you would still play without an audiance, but this subscriber can't wait for your next performance.
If you every make it to Chicago, the orchestra players (I am am just on the Board of directors), would be thrilled to meet you. You speak the same language. Perhaps a concert can be arranged.
Oh my goodness what a different and delightful experience! An enjoyment of another kind! Occasionally God creates this kind of special people to make the lives others lively. I am really grateful. Gratefulness or gracias, I hope the Spanish meaning of it is gratefulness, from an ordinary mortal!
sez the ghost of segovia,,,' zere eess nawthing I canne teach thees gerrl,' you guys hearing this piece for the first time,,a duo presti and lagoya recorded it in the 60s,on nonesuch vinyl, this whole album is great,YT always jumbles up complete one stop recordings, they mix jumble and smoosh varied stuff in a stack,,english suite by bach starts iit out, then battista marella granados au clair de la lune, debussey ana certainly makes this calibre of musicianship

Unbelievable
It's a sad fact that the vast majority of people never hear anything like this in their entire lives, don't even know that it exists.
When I began to play classical guitar in my 30`s I also learned how to read music. There is so much beautiful music in this world. Bach, Merula, Monteverdi, Scarlatti, Tansman... just the tip of the iceberg.

Superb flawless playing, trills and dynamics. Great audio recording too- hats off to the sound engineer !
Lovely management of the dynamics, in addition to the flawless technique. We're very lucky to have Ana around - one of the great musicians.

For me she is even better than Segovia who used to take too much liberty with rythm and special effects
The guitar had a lute like quality of a lively tune. Always beautiful thoughtful technique and execution! Sweet Ana
I agree, the Jim Redgate guitars are some of the best in the world.
My favorite Scarlatti piece...love it !
Mine too
Such smooth note changes and practically perfect dynamic range as expected. Great job, Ana
Absolutely beautiful. Amazing control of emotion through this instrument.
Never imagined to hear this on anything besides piano. This was a rare treat! I wonder if someones done it on harp now!

Makes me cry. I love how she refrains from facial contortions like so many overly emotional players do.
