Love this video. Can you tell us how you would run elastic through the back? Do you just zig zag it at the side seams? How do you calculate the length of the elastic? Thanks!
Hi, Julie! So glad you like the video! Thank you! I'd be happy to tell you how I would use elastic in this waistband. Measure across the back of your waist. If the elastic is rather soft and stretchy (some are really stiff) you can use that exact measurement and sew it into the waistband, pull the elastic about 1/2" toward the front and stitch. This way, doing both sides, you have shortened the elastic 1". Sometimes I test the length of the elastic by using safety pins, pinning the elastic until it is comfortable and then using the desired length of elastic. I also think you could use elastic around the entire waistband except in the overlap and underlaps. In other words, from center front around to the center front on the opposite side. I often use just enough elastic to keep things in place but not so tight that I feel uncomfortable if I sit down. Hope this helps! Happy Sewing and thank you for watching and commenting.

@@julietierney2516 Hello, again, Julie, You are most welcome. I deeply appreciate your comments. This is all done so I can pass on my skills as I had to figure so much out by myself and it took decades! I LOVE that you are learning a lot. If you care to share what you like making and what challenges you are finding, you can find me and DM me at Instagram. If you download a free pdf of the half scale or Guide to Sloper Making, I will also be able to respond. Have a wonderful day!
