I just love your no-nonsense, just get-down-to-it approach of presenting. No lengthy waffling, life history, strident music or special effects…thank you so much!
I agree SO much! I find it so annoying when the intro is more than a minute or two long. If it takes you longer than that to say what you’re going to teach me, I am too frustrated to learn from you.
This is genuinely the most helpful video on darts I’ve seen. The issue I see is that many extremely experienced sewists talk as if we know what they’re talking about. You speak like you’re teaching a complete beginner, and I’m so grateful!
Thank you so much for explaining that . I 'm a 50 something trying to learn how to sew, I didn't get my moms natural ability and her patience is not as long as it was when I was kid and wasn't interested.. Thank you. I finally get it now. :)
You are so amazing! Super intelligent, knowledgeable, and articulate making it all so easy to follow…THANK YOU!!!! By far, my favorite sewing channel! Love from the drag world of NYC! 😘🩵🌟
I love that you have videos covering every single topic. I just started my sewing journey and am about to embark on drafting my own sloper using all of your content! I love that you have specific videos for each of the skills. Thank you for sharing all of this
61 year old male who has just developed a love for sewing. I've made myself a few shirts, and am working on a dress for my wife. I notice that you like to serge your fabric pieces. Doesn't this present a challenge when attaching sleeves, or other curved pieces?
Thank you for getting straight to the point in your videos. Love that! My question is about curved darts for a bodice. Do you recommend them and how and when would you use them?
Do you mean contoured darts? They are for a more tailored fitted look. They are great. Especially for the bust. They just take a bit of practice to get use to.
How can I de-bulk the inside of the dart? As in the little fabric flap that you ironed down, if I want to cut that flap off, how do I nicely finish it?
Hey Anastasia, Can you please explain grading thing on a basic bodice block which has a dart. It's so so so confusing. I spend my so much time on researching on sizing and grading but, still could not figure it out. Like how to distribute measurements for a grading pattern, how much and all those things. hhh ~ Can you please help?
Do you mean grading from scratch or going size to size on an existing pattern? I would check out my sloper video. I think that might help you out. ruclips.net/video/o4LFW-k1vxA/видео.html
I am sorry to say your teacher did not tell you the correct thing unless it was pattern drafter to be that way for some reason. Garments are always pattern drafted towards center back or center front or down. What where you making?

Serging keeps the edges of the fabric from fraying & makes it easier to sew.
What chalk are you using? Or which one do you recommend?
Precise and accurate tutorials! Thanks for sharing!

You can serger it or zig zag it.
I love it .. what did you mean when you said about the ironing..
To iron the darts towards center back or center front?
Thank you.
May I ask how did you find the measurements for your darts?by hoe much in length?
They come in all different lengths and widths.

The excess fabric from the dart on the wrong side of the fabric, do people traditionally trim off the triangle or just iron it to one side?
Just iron it to one side
@@SewAnastasia Thank you!
Great video ❤

Happy to help. Thank you for watching.
Is there a rule of thumb as to where to iron or position the intake? When do I iron towards the bottom? Center front? Center back?
Front of the garment center front , bank of the garment center back. Horizontal darts are down
Thank YOU!!!!
Welcome 🤗
Great tutorial!
Thank you! Cheers!
Perfect! Thank youuuu!

Hi there. What's the name of the ruler that you used? Brand new to sewing here.
I probably used a 2 inch clear ruler?
Ok, thanks. @@SewAnastasia
Do you just leave that flap of fabric like that, then? Just hanging out on the inside of the dress (or whatever it is you're sewing)?
Thanks for your no fathin about... get down to business approach to sewing a dart correctly....this helps alot.
Iron away from the seams? At my sewing class they said towards the seam. What happens to the garment if you iron in the wrong direction?
I am sorry to say your teacher did not tell you the correct thing unless it was pattern drafter to be that way for some reason. Garments are always pattern drafted towards center back or center front or down. What where you making?
Can you cut extra fabric off
Yeah! DARTS!
