    Her talking about how her community rallied around her made me tear up. Humans were meant to have a community like that who supports you through those tough moments. If we created strong communities like that more often, I am sure a lot more teen moms would have stories like hers.

    Jazmin was a great guest! Loved hearing her journey with her husband and family. I’m in my mid-20’s and having children as a teenager sounds so scary, but Jazmin and her man seemed dedicated to make life work for their entire family and that’s very impressive.

    As someone who got pregnant at 23 it is wild how I am now seen as being too young to have a baby. I can’t imagine the stigma an actual teen mom faces in today’s day and age.
    I’m so proud and amazed by how much perseverance she has🤍

    I’m enjoying these more realistic financial stories.. not the situations where people pay off 100k in a few years but then also make six figures with no kids😂

      @tacrewgirl Месяц назад +6

      Agreed. Those I make $150k in my 20s and don't understand how people can't save money are not my cup of tea. It's the arrogance and not based on the reality that most will never make $100k/year in their lifetime.

    About the condom, this is something I will never forget. I was about 15 and one of our classmates was playing around with a condom, like pulling it over bottles and stuff. So someone dared him to pull it over his head. He had an afro and so he started pulling it over his head with all the hair inside. I've never seen something so funny in my life. He came down to his nose, when a (female ) teacher opened the door. In a total panic he pulled the condom off again and the teacher said - super dry - to a boy standing next to her "would you explain to him where you use it?" gold.

    The reason I don't like astrology is that a lot of people who are into it will ask your sign and then pin a bunch of assumptions about your personality onto you. It doesn't feel good to be judged based on a bunch of unscientific made up nonsense.
    Not everyone does that though, I'm ok when it's "just for fun". The way it's used in this interview is fine with me because they already know the people they're talking about really well, so they're just mapping the facts of their personality onto their sign as a kind of fun exercise. Astrology isn't telling them anything they didn't already know.

    • @tross-lj2eb
      @tross-lj2eb Месяц назад

      sure, it's fine for them to do it for fun, but be honest--if someone is trying to sell themselves as an advisor on anything, and they believe in nonsense, does that not undermine them to you?

    • @SeaJay4444
      @SeaJay4444 Месяц назад

      I think it depends on how seriously they take it. If anyone's seriously factoring in astrology into any of their advisory duties then that totally undermines them to me, but if it's used in a fun offshoot to a discussion it's OK.

    This is so fascinating to me! Being 22, it seems that any woman who has kids before they're 30 (where I live) is treated similarly to a teen mother. I have taken on student loans and must pay them off before my fiancé and I marry and have kids. Its hard to see a way to our financial end goal of it being a financially safe decision to have babies, so its inspiring to see somebody do it in the opposite order. It's nice that children do not have to be a financial pitfall you cant recover from- that they can just be kids and you can enjoy your time with them very much. ❤❤❤😂

    What an amazing interview! Jazmin is such an inspirational woman! I loved how she described asking her mom about if she was investing/matching her retirement too. It goes to show that you don't k ow what you don't know, so entire families can miss out on financial education so easily because the knowledge isn't there to pass on to the next generation. Hearing how she started learning about peraonal finance and how she and her husband made debt payoff work for them in such difficult circumstances is truly inspiring because it makes it feel like financial stability IS possible. Great questions, great discussion, great guest. Love this so much ❤

    Ah, I remember what a joke sex ed was at my school. Not quite the same experience, but we had a _very_ evangelical teacher who straight-up lied to us about the effectiveness of condoms and birth control, massively played up the side effects of birth control, and then wasted a semester drilling us on how abstinence was the only way.
    I never once actually saw a condom in that class.

I think knowing how to go about good debt it not talked about enough

    • @thatjillgirl
      @thatjillgirl 24 дня назад +1

      Yeah. This is my biggest quibble with the Dave Ramsey version of personal finance advice. His process is debt aversive to a detrimental extent. There are ways to use debt strategically and come out ahead in the long run. High interest consumer debt like credit card debt absolutely needs to be dealt with and will do nothing but hurt your financial life. But if you're disciplined and smart enough to follow the Ramsey method, you're disciplined and smart enough to learn ways to use debt to your advantage and pay it off in manageable but helpful ways.

    My mother and step father have a time share. They get it once a week each year in late summer. They try to rent it out to others and probably profit when they do but it isn’t always possible. The weather was terrible this year and no one booked it. They went on to buy their own beach front properties and rent them but I’ve always thought it was funny they have the time share. Probably stuck with it forever.
