@@willywonka4340​​⁠as a fellow American I’d disagree with you slightly. Yes, I want my representative to fight for my interests. But I also want them to be adults when it comes to doing their jobs. Policy making isn’t about a battle of the wills, it’s supposed to be about nuanced discussion, reasoning, critical thinking, negotiation and mutually beneficial compromise that keeps the country moving on the right path. This “us vs them” BS does nothing but undermine national interests. Our representatives should represent the best of us, leaders that embody what we want our nation to be, not who has the best put down for the party across the aisle.
