    Not only do I appreciate your videos for showing us products and home automation stuff, but I also like how you are real enough that you show us where you missed things or made mistakes. You aren't editing the mistakes out to save face.

      Appreciate that feedback. Not everyone feels that way but I think it's important to show that we are human as well and we aren't always successful on the first attempt (or second or third).

    Great presentation of this tiny device, thank you for that. At the end of the video, you're mentionning a BT sensor that could be installed inside your car and get its presence detected from the BT-Proxy. Any example of such BT sensor, by any chance ? Thank you.

      I haven't played with one in awhile. I did have a video quite awhile ago on a device that I used with an ESP-32 based device. It had limited success with that but it was early days. Now with BT proxies in HA and things like the MSR series, it's probably worth another shot. A device from this company is what I used. bluecharmbeacons.com/

    Great review! I already owned one of these but I'm still learning on a lot of the MMWave stuff, and this definitely helped.
    Can you talk more about using it as a Bluetooth Proxy? Does it just do that by default or do you need to enable something in order for that to work?

    Would you recommend some precise temperature sensors for ESPhome, like ready made product ?
    Maybe there are some sensors which are well made, precise and ready to go with ESPhome solution?
    This one has temperature sensor, but like you mentioned - it is not the main task for it.
    Thank you!

    Chris, what do you think about the distance of activation. I've been noticing that it's hard to find a presence/mm wave sensor that works for those of us in the United States that have big great rooms. People don't understand that some of our houses have big areas that we want to use them for.

      The LD2410B in the MSR-1 has a detectable range of 5m/18ft. There are sensors that can detect up to 25m that we might use in a future sensor...

      I have found that I need to make the MSR series less sensitive because they detect outside the range for what I need (10x10 room). But Justin replied already with some 25m sensors they are looking at.

      We have a guide on our wiki that helps setup BT tracking. If I post the link, I think RUclips will remove this comment so just google search Apollo Automation Wiki.

    If its CO2, then it wont work in the Garage like you mentioned. That would be CO, Carbon Monoxide, not Carbon Dioxide.

    • @ApolloAutomation
      @ApolloAutomation 6 месяцев назад +1

      Our air quality monitor, The AIR-1, is able to detect CO. However, CO2 can have negative health affects as well, especially when >1000 ppm. We use the SCD40 which is a true NDIR CO2 sensor. Seeing the CO2 levels rise is your home has been eye-opening, especially since it can cause, headaches, fatigue, drowsiness and decreased productivity. Let us know your thoughts!

      Good point. I've got an AIR-1 (thanks Justin) to try out. That would be interesting to try out in the garage, especially when the car starts up or sits there idling. I would also be interested to see how much CO makes it into the house via the garage entrance door after pulls into the garage and people come inside.

    If only there was an accurate way to show its size.... maybe use a ruler, rather than a coin, pen or book! 😂 Nice video Chris - keep up the good work

      The MSR-1 measures 40mm x 32mm x 13mm.

    Sometimes a phone will use the data connection when the WiFi can't connect to the internet. On my Android disabling data solves that issue.

    Why do they say CO2? I would think they mean CO. Don't think they are measuring burps after a swig of beer or soda!

    • @JoshDingus

      Carbon dioxide or carbon monoxide?

    • @shanewalters7821
      @shanewalters7821 6 месяцев назад

      @@JoshDingus huh? Nobody needs to monitor CO2. Carbon Monoxide (CO) is what is deadly. CO2 is what makes our beer, soda... Etc fizzy. Take away one oxygen and it makes a huge difference.

    • @ApolloAutomation
      @ApolloAutomation 6 месяцев назад +2

      This device measures CO2 and our air quality monitor, The AIR-1 measures CO. Here is our response from above.

    CO2? Carbon DIoxide, or CO Carbon MONoxide - CO is the poisonous one btw...

    • @mostlychris
      @mostlychris  5 месяцев назад

      CO is usually from vehicles, which the MSR-x series doesn't measure. Their AIR-1 will measure CO. I said CO2 in the video and referenced the garage, which is incorrect.
