I love how some people think that these people can be rehabilitated. What nonsense.
Agreed
I'm not sure how many people think serial killers can be rehabilitated......
@@daveweiss4375 check out European nations and Australia. You'd be surprised. They have such short sentences because of that.

His defense attorney:
"He seemed like a normal guy."
Yeah, that's because he was a psychopath.
That's why I disguise movies that always show killers as mentally disturbed. They may not be...
The scariest shit is like 90% of all Serial Killers were reported by their neighbors as the kindest people
where is this statistic from ?
The sociopathic charisma
@@gullybull5568 Just read about it
And usually in Central Europe
The scariest thing is the ridiculous sentences they get for rape and assaulting women that leads them back out on the streets.
Its only a couple of minutes in and I think I'm almost more disturbed by the defense lawyer and the forensic psychologist and their interactions with this monster.
Well said Grayhawk ... exactly how I felt!
I just posted same
I completely understand their reactions to him. They spent time with a person and developed a professional relationship with him. Also, their professions would mean they spend more time studying crimes and criminals than most, they also understand their own professional duties an obligations in situations involving criminals.
I'm almost more disturbed by your lack of insight and understanding. You seem somewhat dim-witted by posting this silly comment.
They enjoy his sickness
@@thirdeye6634that’s a stretch
It is disturbing that he was released after conviction for murder. Also what lack of innate sense would encourage anyone to determine this man was rehabilitated.
I love that he described him as "nothing special" , too many times they describe killers as Smart charming "good looking" and its like no they actually arent wtf
Really nothing special
But that's the thing lol. Sometimes they actually are. Ted Bundy WAS charming and that's part of how he lured his victims...so many of them. Ed Kemper was awkwardly charming to the point his victims actually helped him in some cases. He locked himself out of his car and was able to talk the victim into letting him back in. He charmed one to willingly climb into his trunk.
And MANY have a well above average IQ...
It’s as if good looks matter.
In the end it doesn't matter is they are charming, good looking or just regular huys, they are sll loosers
I wonder if that psychologist would have also laughed while having a chit chat with Volker, if one of the victims was his daughter...
If he was active for 32 years, it's likely there were more than 6 victims. We'll never know, which is a shame. Lots of families must wonder if he was involved in the death/disappearance of their loved one.
There are always so many victims. I did a video on the serial killer Maury Travis and they have him pegged between 12-17 murders but he was only convicted of two.
They say on average there are 25-50 active serial killers active in the US, granted I know it’s the EU for this case, but if the stat translates for serial killers in general, they said each serial killer if it’s the latter number of 50, they are responsible on 3 kills per year. (Granted some only do 1 a year while others can do a lot more) But if you take the average kills per year for serial killers it is right around 3 for the US (once again if this stat translates to all serial killers and EU ones aren’t different then ones in the US) he would have a body count of around 96 bodies. All depends though on his physical health and how well he can kill.
But for being a cab driver he would have serious access to victims, without suspicion for a long time, very very scary thought.
@@TheTwinFiles exactly, it’s like Israel keys, he can only be linked to I think 2-3 kills tops, but before he hung himself, he did a drawing and they think it was him saying he had 13 victims (you can look up the picture it’s disturbing though)
He was really bad, the one they really got him on, he sewed the girls eyes open to take a picture with a newspaper for a ransom reward.
And even though they only can link him to 2-3 they have found his “kill kits” in over 40 different kits in multiple different states that he made a map of for the FBI, and those are only the ones that he told them about…. Scary to think about, and he was presumed to be active for around 20-25 years there’s no way he only has 2-3.
its not so unlikely, many serial killers goes 5-15yrs without any killings but ofc we dont know but there are so many cases like this where they dont kill in 14yrs and so on. Ofc there is alot unsolved murders in the US but this is not so unlikely as ppl think
@@danielandree3947 I call BS, most serial killer`s have good life owning bakery`s all that kind of stuff, most serial killers dont got the balls to kill that often. If what you say would have been right there would have been alot more bodies. That statistic is clearly wrong there`s no way the US has so few S-killers, the streets alone have hundreds of them easily. there is alot of rich good establish ppl too who go on killing sprees, I certainly dont believe that statistic. I really grew up on the streets and you can find these ppl everywhere for even as a small country such as mine, there`s no way the US has so few. Look at all the missing person cases every year in your country, i checked 2yrs ago and back then ya had over 3000ppl missing every year if i remember correctly ths was both grown ups and children but still by your estimation that would mean every serial killer has around 50-100kills per person there`s no way thats true
Serial killers ARE monsters who look so normal. Many of them have the sociopathic charisma.
He DOES deserve to be called a monster and a murderer.
They look "normal" ( what is noraml btw?), cause they are a part of the humanity and society and were and will always be.. When will ppl understand that. They are us, they don't have 2 heads, huge scars, tentacles ecc. That is a part of human nature, unfortunately
You're right. My channel does these sort of videos and so many of the criminals look normal. They hold normal jobs, some even have families. You can never know most people's true selves and that's scary.
@@Plaksa2004 Eh, calling a serial killer " a monster" seems fitting. Just curious, whom would you use this word on, if not on this sort of murderers? O_O
@@Plaksa2004 they look normal like everyone looks but they are anything but normal. I have family members who are antisocial. They do not physically kill yet hatred of others is murder. Their words give them away. Depravity is obviously difficult to diagnose. Due to my close proximity to such dysfunction, I feel too aware; like equipped with radar. They are masters of manipulation & skilled liars. Their mouths run rings around a room of ppl. My motto after being sucked in by their charm: “Fool me once, shame on you. Well it works, she can't be found based on how she looks by random people, but if her name was known anyone can google her name and find her on some social media, in some financial registry etc. She has no reason to hide, Eckert is dead, she just doesn't want to get pestered by general public, journalists etc.
I thought that too but she definitely gave her consent so..
When an "attempted murder" charge garners only 6 years in jail....we as a society, obviously do not value life, EITHER.
Exactly
The issue I always had with that charge is it literally rewards incompetence and gives them a second chance at it. I always thought attempted murder and murder should carry the same charges because the awful intent was the same. I genuinely think it would cut the murder rate down if they started giving 25 to life sentence for attempted murder and severe cases aggravated assault.
I wonder your views on other forms of murder

The lawyer who felt sad when this serial killer killed himself should, consider the women that he strangled to death for 30 years before shedding a tear for this demon.

"Like a guy selling you life insurance". A serial killer selling you life insurance. Lol.
Did anyone else become slightly annoyed that he got caught by a 1 in a million shot but they kept talking about it as tho they cracked the case by tracking down leads and figuring patterns and narrowing it down til only he was left?
Psychologists believe they are smarter than psychopaths, but in reality, evil minds run circles around them.
Like how?
What's that guy on about? The man was a monster...
"He brought himself to justice" is certainly a fitting description. Too bad they couldn't close some cold cases, but I guess he wasn't watched closely enough to come to this end. I would think there would have been a sigh of relief throughout Europe at the time.
There definitely had to be more than 6 victims within his 32yr killing spree. And yeah many may feel he took the coward way out by killing himself, but even that move alone saved tax dollars and he's no longer a threat. It does suck that there's so many unanswered questions and many women possibly missing by him.
When Eckert showed up at "Claudia's" home, he should've gone directly back to jail. Also, why are the psychologists in these true crime stories completely incompetent. There are TOO MANY CASES of them "accessing" the killers and finding them fit to be released when they shouldn't be.
It's easy to judge in hindsight, safely from behind your computer, when you don't even know all the facts.
If one gets his kicks out of stroking through hair wouldn't becoming a hairdresser be a simple solution?! Fondle with hair day in day out, legally and payed!
Then kill th em
Great idea
In theory. But this assumes that women are not capable of perceiving creepy even when it's touching them.
The problem with that is that he didn't stop at stroking hair, seems he wanted to possess/control the women he attacked and subsequently killed. Becoming a hairdresser would have never been enough for him... unfortunately. It's terrible.
@@Porkchopkins In the video it was stated that he fondled with hair of dolls at a very young age and he tried to hide it because he was ashamed of it. This developed in a fantasy he wanted and needed to act out upon when he got older and thus killing after the fact was a necessity but not part of his fantasy/urge. Because his staging of the suicide of the girl was working perfectly he then realized that it was a proven method and after becoming a truck driver he could carry on doing his thing without going through the hassle of making the murder look like and accident. I suspect it developed in a ritual to pick up a girl, have sex, strangle the girl, fondle her hair and take pictures of her(the order in which it went could be different of course). Maybe after a few times he got also aroused about the whole strangulation/killing part of this ritual but in the beginning it was just a way to hide his fetish.
This guy is the definition of the “awwww, is someone facing the consequences of their actions?” meme
how you gonna change her name, and tell her story but show her face? what was the point? someone might recognise her anyway. why not put her silhouette
They think just the justice system who release a attempted murderer after only 6 years, they just don’t think or they care more about the murderers than for the victims.
Or use an actress...Ow wait...they did!!! (You really are a bright light arent you)
I guess because we as viewers can't trace her by seeing her face, but if we had her name, she may be contacted by voyeurs or weirdo s, etc. She doesn't have to hide her face from the killer, as he's dead. Oh, and that's not an actress as the OP said! Duh! It's the real go tim, I've seen her before on C&I. One year later, but hey, the next person may have thought the same as you, and didn't need insulting lol!😊
Another defense attorney making me ill. He felt sorry for how the state and media were all against his client. 🤮
Yeah i really don't get this one, the evidence was unquestionable, he was clearly a serial killer AND he confessed to doing it too. So being treated as a monster is not really something undeserved or strange...
couldn't believe what he said either. unacceptable
I admire defense attorneys in a way. They are just doing their job at the end of the day even if it’s a job I would never take.
Everyone is entitled to competent legal defense, regardless of the crime of which they are accused. Jurors are sequestered so as to prevent media and public influence on a potential verdict. If we were to allow the media and public to decide the results of any trial we'd be faced with mob justice. Civilized societies moved away from such actions for a reason. Politics are a perfect example of how media influences public opinion. If you don't see why public opinion needs to be separated from criminal justice you're blind. If you don't see why an attorney would have concerns about public opinion influencing trials you're a fool.
@@SkunkApe407 We're talking about after-the-facts interviews. He was no longer his lawyer...i know you're trying to look cool, but god damn son...
What the hell is wrong with the lawyer?? Saying that Eckert deserved a fair trial, that he connects with the client and that he felt sad when he heard that Eckert commited suicide?! He didn't treat those women anything close to fair, he didn't deserve anything a normal human deserves in life, I beleive, after commiting those murdes and attacs (probably more than what is known). He had been lucky before, by not spending much time behind bars for attemted murder, had gotten away with the murder of his schoolfriend in the 70s and probably a lot more etc. So no, in the end, he was a creepy coward, fearing justice. If he didn't do it himself, I would surely hope that another prisoner would've finished him off, the world is a much better place without people like him. That lawyer must have a screw loose for saying that!!!
Sidenote: The could've shown the woman "Claudias" real name, why just change the name and then show her face anyway, just don't understand what the purpose is here...
Hes sounded just as sick & disgusting as his client
Only if it was your daughter Mr. lawyer perhaps you would not say such shit about this World's Worse Monster
you can have empathy for someone without condoning their crimes.
I think it is the fact that he saw past the demented aspect of Eckert, a side of him that would have made him a good person...you know, had he not had defective brain, and perhaps a better childhood could have helped.
Eckert deserved hell for what he did, but in another universe, he could have been a good person. It's too bad he came to be the way he was, and caused the deaths of so many, as well as the heartbreak of families, and the scaring of lives.
See, despite your infantile grasp of reality, the truth is that there is no such thing as "pure evil". Every individual that has committed a heinous act has a past and a particular pathology that drives them. Underneath their horrible acts is still a human being. Your willingness to ignore their own humanity makes you no better than them.
Is his attorney suggesting that he was bullied to death by society?!
I guess cancel culture got to the killer lmao
His attorney is a flaming idiot. Bet he wouldnt let his daughter ride with him alone anywhere. He is as sick as his client was
I wouldn't be "sharing any laughs" with that cold blooded killer. I get that he's a human too albeit a troubled one but it's disrespectful to the victims to share a good chuckle. Besides, I'd be too disgusted anyways.
Yeah, what the hell was that little comment about? "I got chummy with the Serial Killer!" "Oh, he's not such a bad guy when you get him talking" ...just don't turn your back.
It's his job to diagnose the guy, you can't do that if you're not talking to the guy, you with me so far? And to get him to talk, you can't just only ask about the murders, you gotta act friendly and talk about all sorts of things. Someone has to do it, you wouldn't be able to, i wouldn't, but somebody HAS to.
I agree
@@Brekner Your point is Valid; I just think it's not something he NEEDS to discuss. I'd be feeling disgusted afterwards, not trying to find the Happy Moments with the Monster to share.
@@robertgiles9124 again, you missed the point. This isn't about YOU, it's about the pathology. It's about understanding why he did what he did, and potentially preventing it from happening in the future. Many people that resort to these types of actions do so because they feel marginalized or disenfranchised by society. Your suggestion would only further perpetuate the cycle. It's only through discussion and analysis that we can understand what drives these people, so that we may prevent the same in the future. Nobody said you have to do it, nor is anyone asking you to. Your personal feelings aren't relevant here, as I'm sure you're not a trained mental health specialist.
Most of the "experts" come across as just narrators or time fillers for the show production. They don't offer any insightful takes, it's just obvious common sense and/or stock takes that we've all heard a million times before -- like serial killers take trophies to relive their crimes. Duh!

We, also, have had cases here that it would leave you speechless.
Where do they find the time to do this?
I love how they keep emphasizing his "fetishism" as if that have anything to do with his crimes ... he is a serial murderer who happened to have a fetish for hair (or any other type of paraphilia) those things are not connected!
Indeed, I thought as well that his fetish doesn't mean he needs to kill. He could have become a hair dresser...
It was not an excuse for his behaviour, it was an explanation. His fetish drove him to kill because women would not have permitted him to indulge his fantasies on them. He wanted to run his hands through the hair of women...he did not want to DRESS their hair, he wanted to RAVAGE it. I think that his fetish was just sauce for the goose. He would have been a nutbag even without the impulse.
He deserves anything he got--should have been more. Defense lawyer trying to assuage the guilt that I imagine comes with defending monsters for a paycheck when you know they are a self-admitted monster.
The brilliant 14 year old staged a suicide......or really bad police work. We will never know the answers. Then do your freaking job! I'm starting to think that the reason we don't get to hear about serial killers anymore is purely to protect the horrible job law enforcement is doing and not because "it inspires other killers".
I have to comment on that journalists hair and just say: what a rockstar!
He should have considered buying weaves.
I think he killed many more, at least once per year. Monsters don't have horns, Eckert was one of them.

Don’t confuse the actor with the real person.
No, more like Roger Moore.
I'm disturbed over the lawyers depth of 'empathy ' towards this sick individual. I understand trying to separate actions from the person but there are some actions that shouldn't be put aside. The murder of multiple women is one of them. Leaves a gross feeling hearing him talk about him.
Also certain crimes shouldn't be allowed to be rehabilitated. Murder and rape take a sickness that doesn't have a cure.
Right: an explanation should never be a substitute for an excuse.
Certain criminals committing certain crimes cannot be rehabilitated.

Makes a good point that it doesn’t make sense to get married. It’s a contract that one side is incentivized to break because they benefit from it. It’s stupid and yet no one cares to change it.
It makes perfect sense in the traditional family model with one being the bread winner and one staying home with the kids and not having any money making skills of their own as a result.
