i'll tell you something: with other youtubers I can't watch a video till the end because some are really boring ... with Sam's videos they're like magic.. awesome content, awesome editing.. Man! Congratulations!
Actually the big change in the Abath performance wise is exhaust/suspension so you can totally do that for less than it would cost to upgrade. That's the way to go it seems.
Hey Marco good call out. The LSD and brakes ARE big ones (but the brakes are solid in the base-- more than adequate for sporty driving), so those upgrades are more track oriented? In the US power is FOUR horsepower difference which an exhaust would get... as to the electronics you mean the sport button for transmission? I id mention that but since I shift with paddles when driving enthusiastically it wasn't a huge deal. I'll talk about them more in my Abath review, but unless you're tracking they're icing on a great cake. The Abath in some ways feels like more of a sport package than a different car, ya know? If they ever change the power #s, then I'll be convinced it's worthy of the Abath name.
I enjoyed the vid, Sam. I especially believe that you add a very artistic cinemagraphic element with the selection of "B roll" edits. Very nice, thank you.
Seriously, the new Top Gear show cannot live up to your quality of pure love for cars and dry british humour. You would fit in the old crew even. Well done! Also, a blonde driving small red italian convertible is such a classic image. Love it!
*Its all good of seeing super cars and hypercars on your channel but I really do appreciate you sowing more 'realistically attainable' cars for the masses. Cheers Sam!* Regards from Tokyo
I bought a Classica as my daily driver... best decision ever! I tell people she's the half sister of the MX5; gorgeous Japanese mother with a handsome Italian father.
Of course it's a cool car & handles well. It's an MX-5 after all. I see the Abarth 124 Spider as an MX-5 wearing a very stylish Italian suit. Japanese reliability and built quality with Italian design and flair - a magical combination. Great video editing on this one. Love seeing the vision of the road as you drive. I also particularly loved the banter between you and Emma. Keep up the great work.
I love everything Abarth, Currently drive a Abarth Punto Evo which is great. Excellent review Seen Through Glass. The Monza on that Abarth Spider sounds terrific.
Emma & Sam as guest presenters on Top Gear. Good duo almost knowing what each other are gonna say. I hope Archie gives some banter on how well you guys get along (in a cool way)
In America, the Abarth version only has four extra horsepower so the 124 lusso is very similar to the Abarth version over here except the Abarth version has the extra interior goodies and suspension enhancements with that cool exhaust.
Best vid yet. Nice to see the comparison between both cars. Well done again. Got the wife a 695 Ferrari Tribute and she'll soon have one of your caps too....
Reason why the Abarth is not substantially more powerful, it's because they are both Cabrios. When you add more power to a cabrio, you need to add 'weight' via added rigidity, since you do not have the roof and A-pillars to provide structural rigidity in handling. This is why cabrios do not handle like coupes, and tend to weight more (with a few exceptions). The Abarth is designed with handling more than raw power. The 500 Abarth in both Cabrio and Hardtop has 30-60% more power because even in Cabior trim, it has the shell-like structural support. The 124 does not. Good review mate, but do inform yourself better on these matters. Keep up with the good work! Bravissimo!
I'm Italian and honestly yeah we have some great roads with some awesome-looking landscapes (thinking about Sardinia, Alpes or all the mountain/on sea roads) However, Italian roads have holes everywhere so it's not so easy sometimes to enjoy a ride lol
I'm from Verona, beautiful places man! Even Sirmione is a must if you drive around there... hope you will come again :) We can hang out with my Alfa Romeo GT or Alfa Romeo Spider Duetto both 1300!
Every time that music started I was immediately transported to Italy, living it up with a beautiful blonde by my side, and my can of Stella turned into a Martini.
***** yeah I live in the uk my cars time is 5.7 I'm comfortably quicker than the vast majority of cars you see driving around regularly but i watch some channels like engineeringexplained he's not very impressed by things like the mustang ecoboosts 5.5 seconds. In the car community especially in the states if you're cars not super light or has 350bhp it's considered quite slow
Great little car and such a great setting, I have to say that I really like the 124 Spider, it encapsulates fun motoring in every way - the Abarth looks fantastic but to be nice to see it wth a bit more poke - great effort from Fiat tho! - Top content as ever Sam.
you enjoyed the normal one more, because the whole point of these Kind of cars is not to deliver Performance or Hack sporty like crazy. it is for enjoying the ride with a lovely company, drive to meet friends, enjoy the day, and that's what happened.
Does make perfect sense when you see it in this shot 3:06, it's definitely a car for mainland Europe and definitely not a gentlemen's car. It screams old Italian sports car...which is probably the point, only issue is a 1.4 turbo doesn't suit the car. It needs that 3.2 V6 that Alfa used to put in their cars but then again Abarth does sound very good.
I wasn't comparing it to the TTS - I said my friend is looking at a car for around the £30k mark, and in my mind the 124 Spider might be the best value or option for him
The Alfa version of this car would be "closer" to the TTS, although in the UK with the small standard engine on the TT, having driven a recent TT in the 2.0T and a 500 Abath (same engine as 124) they're MUCH closer than you'd think performance wise.
Great video Sam! Love the abarth! Personally I'm a mxt guy so if mazda made an Mazdaspeed nd with this kind of sound track, I'd have that but these 124's are stunners
So... basically this car needs the Alfa's 1750 cc 240 bhp engine and definitely manual, which apparently going to save few grand as well and make it sensible choice for under 30 k. P.S. As I said at Emma's video, you are great on screen couple, you should do more work together.
Well well, Sam... some words came to my mind like 124, daily driver, proper subsitute for the 4c, Forza Italia! Any thoughts on that? Keep up the good work!
interesting...on fiatusa site the base 124 spider is 160hp 184tq starting at 24,000? and the abarth is just 164hp 184tq and starting at 28,000 interesting how its so much more expensive in the uk...and how the abarth isnt much of an upgrade over the base...
"I crave something Italian in my life..... Are you Italian ???..." thats a damn smooth pickup line.. Very nice Sam :D
"I think i crave something italian.. Are you italian?" SMOOTH AS FUCK
Her answer is just as smooth
True hahaha!
Unfortunately didn't have time to try out the manual Abarth 124 Spider, but it was still great to get behind the wheel of both cars
I think you would like the manual a lot more :)
love u sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo mch man😍😘😘😘😍😘😍😘
Man buy italian, buy a Ferrari. IT will complete and change your life. Stop thinking about it!!! Do it now
aam voor u r absolutely right
You need to date that girl. I think she likes you
Love the rumble of the Abarth!
Hi! Mumbo!
What a nice transition form your vid to sams, and seeing you here o/
Well hellooo Mr Mumbo Jumbo!
That tuned 4 cylinder is just amazing
Mumbo approves my car. This is so epic.
Sam, your hair is blowing around too much
It's why I dont think I would buy a Spider
The sun, the car, the lady, Italia... Life is beautiful Sam, isn't it? 😉 Enjoy! ✌🏻
It was a great day! Cheers mate
8:48 I though you were going for it there lol. Fantastic video as usual, didn't expect the 124 to sound so good!
i'll tell you something: with other youtubers I can't watch a video till the end because some are really boring ... with Sam's videos they're like magic.. awesome content, awesome editing.. Man! Congratulations!
Loved the editing in this. Great job!
Thanks
+Seen Through Glass you really suet that car Sam you should get one
Still waiting for an Abarth Multipla Spider
RUclips needs more Emma with Seen Through Glass!
Such a well made video per usual. Your eye for filmmaking is prominent in this video. Keep up the amazing content!
Love the jazzy vibes in this video! They really catch the spirit of this car :)
Actually the big change in the Abath performance wise is exhaust/suspension so you can totally do that for less than it would cost to upgrade. That's the way to go it seems.

I'm 6'4" and would look like a Duplo toy driving that.
More Emma please.
Sam is 6'3'' himself
prettier than 99% of the women in the world.. "nothing special" fuck outta here. Blonde, pretty. not completely braindead either.
99% wtf like nigga go outside a bit
Kaisuke971 Shh... fuckboy
Seriously, the new Top Gear show cannot live up to your quality of pure love for cars and dry british humour. You would fit in the old crew even. Well done! Also, a blonde driving small red italian convertible is such a classic image. Love it!
glad you enjoy my county sam! btw you nailed it, it's all about the atmosphere/vibe/charm with the 124 and also many other italian cars
I want the abarth spider stunning car sounds and looks amazing
The quality of your videos is getting so nice Sam!
*Its all good of seeing super cars and hypercars on your channel but I really do appreciate you sowing more 'realistically attainable' cars for the masses. Cheers Sam!* Regards from Tokyo
Great video, great car! You definitely need an Italian car like you do need Emma in your life.
Wow, Emma is a gem.
I fucking love all the music Sam uses.
I bought a Classica as my daily driver... best decision ever! I tell people she's the half sister of the MX5; gorgeous Japanese mother with a handsome Italian father.
Sam, loving the content at the moment. Production value is going through the roof 👌
Once again, you nailed the video and the edit ! So so good !
Of course it's a cool car & handles well. It's an MX-5 after all. I see the Abarth 124 Spider as an MX-5 wearing a very stylish Italian suit. the car and the scenary are just beautiful
Your editing is so damn good. It's definitely something for me to aim to be able to do one day.
you literally made my year by quoting my tweet. thank you so much!
Great content as usual Sam !
Sam, the overall quality of your videos has really gone up lately! Keep up the great work, love your videos.
Great content as usual, Sam- definitely looks like the definition of the perfect trip.
Thanks mate, it was pretty close to being so
I need that Abarth! And the girl.. Nice video!
"aaand that's kids, how I met your mother. In 124 Spider in Italy"
Just came from Paul's video. Wtf is this magic with editing :D Good job.
LOVE ITALY, FROM COFFEE TO CARS.......
Imagine Abarth slightly tuned with an exhaust system on (if there is one), that would be fun!!!
I have a 2013 Fiat 500 Abarth and I love it. I'd love to drive this car too
Looks like a nice bit of kit. Would have been interesting to see how the old classic spyder compares.
Yo sam your videos are unreal keep it up pal. Loving the content.
Thanks
Just started watching. Your car review are fun and funny to watch!
Love your reviews, so honest and funny
perfect music choices
Italian cars are nice, Italian drivers are mental...
I'm Italian......and I agree.
as bad as the french drivers?
Worse, trust me...
dumb driver doesn't have nationality
French people often drive like absolute retards as well though :D
10/10 video quality as always!
Great video as always
Best vid yet. Nice to see the comparison between both cars. Well done again. Got the wife a 695 Ferrari Tribute and she'll soon have one of your caps too....
Did you also drive the new 500 Abarth Competizione with the diff. Not alot of footage about that car in english.
Reason why the Abarth is not substantially more powerful, it's because they are both Cabrios. When you add more power to a cabrio, you need to add 'weight' via added rigidity, since you do not have the roof and A-pillars to provide structural rigidity in handling. Good review mate, but do inform yourself better on these matters. Keep up with the good work!
Bravissimo!
Great video Sam, yet again
Would the "bit of MX-5 in this car" be that it works?
omg Sam, as always your videos are great! By the way, we pronounce Spider just like you, in Italy! :)
I think convertibles really suits countries like Italy where the weather is amazing most of the time, unlike in UK where it rains almost all the time.
Get the manual, bigger intercooler, more turbo pressure, remap, and you're at about 250 hp. Pretty easy to fix the power issue...
holy crap. this edititing is something else!
I had to watch this video twice, because I wanted to hear what the car is like but the first time round I was distracted by Emma
Another great review Sam.
I'm Italian and honestly yeah we have some great roads with some awesome-looking landscapes (thinking about Sardinia, Alpes or all the mountain/on sea roads)

***** ma che bella figura fai?
volevi fare il grandioso parlando male del tuo paese, uno sport che piace molto all'italiota medio
3:26 Red? What happened to the "True blood"?
great video Sam !
You kick ass Sam! Thanks for the vids
Iv been looking at this or the new TTS and the facelift s3 but it's too hard to choose between them
I'm from Verona, beautiful places man! Even Sirmione is a must if you drive around there... hope you will come again :) We can hang out with my Alfa Romeo GT or Alfa Romeo Spider Duetto both 1300!
God you're good at what you do Sam. Keep up the great editing and content !!
Sam, so you like the Fiat Multipla too?
Multipla is a beast!! All about that 3 front seats life haha
multipla was born for rally! 3 front seats=2 assistants
Benedetto Celentano Lol true! Nah, one assistant, one dedicated solely for shifting and the driver himself.
Every time that music started I was immediately transported to Italy, living it up with a beautiful blonde by my side, and my can of Stella turned into a Martini.
I'm glad
I agree with the rental car xD rented a vw beetle convertible last week in spain and same level for me
I'd the Abarth, but with casual 124's rims !
Lovely senery on the routes in Sirmione!
6.8 seconds to 62 isn't fast for you? For me anything sub 9 is quick enough...
Depends what you're used to I'm sure Jensen button feels the p1 is slow
most cars are sub 9 seconds these days...
Bob Bob not sure about that there are 60,000 new or nearly new cars on uk autotrader only 10,000 are under 8 second cars
***** yeah I live in the uk my cars time is 5.7 I'm comfortably quicker than the vast majority of cars you see driving around regularly but i watch some channels like engineeringexplained he's not very impressed by things like the mustang ecoboosts 5.5 seconds. lol my 55 plate mini cooper is sub 9 so i thought most cars would be these days..
0:32 That's my boy haha. I think Sam, is the only youtuber who knows that real men, like cars and beautiful women. Am I lying?
Good choice of car, good choice of watch, the Speedmaster.
Great little car and such a great setting, I have to say that I really like the 124 Spider, it encapsulates fun motoring in every way - the Abarth looks fantastic but to be nice to see it wth a bit more poke - great effort from Fiat tho! - Top content as ever Sam.

I think the regular fiat with an exhaust would sound fairly similar as its the same engine just detuned:)
What makes you compare it to a TTS? It's like... Half the price and half the power. I think it's more comparable to the MX-5, or MAYBE a Z4.
I wasn't comparing it to the TTS - I said my friend is looking at a car for around the £30k mark, and in my mind the 124 Spider might be the best value or option for him

Yup, I agree, that is the perfect Monaco car(manual though)!
its 00.14 first time im this early
Greeting from Bali Sam !!!
Have you stolen my girlfriend? 😂
Haha I hope not
I would tho
+QuadHawk8 who wouldn't
didn't he borowed her ?
+Seen Through Glass you should
Great video Sam! Love the abarth! Personally I'm a mxt guy so if mazda made an Mazdaspeed nd with this kind of sound track, I'd have that but these 124's are stunners
mx5*
#abarthmasterrace
What is good about mx5s? Slow, ugly and very common
+TheCamscot Your opinion lol. It's only the most sold roadster ever so 😄
+Roberto Ferreira I know that and I wasn't trying to insult anyone/anything but was just wondering what all the hype is about?
I mean with the abarth you could chip it to around 200-220bhp ?
Easily
You can't just say you love every italian car ever made, because that would include the fiat multipla.
What's wrong with a Multipla? :)
So... basically this car needs the Alfa's 1750 cc 240 bhp engine and definitely manual, which apparently going to save few grand as well and make it sensible choice for under 30 k.
P.S. As I said at Emma's video, you are great on screen couple, you should do more work together.
YEAH, SHE'D GET IT
did you try the manual because you would have love it, much like shmee did
Well well, Sam... some words came to my mind like 124, daily driver, proper subsitute for the 4c, Forza Italia! Any thoughts on that? Keep up the good work!
5:38 best part of the video 😂😂😂
When is stg gonna drive the svr
interesting...on fiatusa site the base 124 spider is 160hp 184tq starting at 24,000? and the abarth is just 164hp 184tq and starting at 28,000 interesting how its so much more expensive in the uk...and how the abarth isnt much of an upgrade over the base...
Great!
3:34. What is the name of the song?
Like a little love story.....was expecting you to neck the old girl at the end Sam!! Love the work as always.
Sam where do you find such dank beats to put in your videos.
Sam, enjoyed that 😎 what make are your shades please?
2:58 That fucking bike scared me LOL!!
