Excited about this one. Thanks for watching and be sure to comment below your thoughts and give it a share and thumbs up! It massively helps me out! Thanks so much!!!!
Oh man... I've been waiting for this! There are no positive words that are strong enough to describe my admiration for the work you've done here... (along with Rick of course). That right there is what landscape photography really is all about! Fantastic video, fantastic photos, fantastic production! A big bow and respect from here. None of us deserves to watch this for free... Thank you for bringing us along and definitely inspire me to one day do something similar 🙏☺️
Means so much Mads - thanks and glad you enjoyed it! It was so much effort but all these amazing comments make it worth it all for me and rick
@@NigelDanson I'd echo this, the comments have been unbelievable - Thanks @MadsPeterIversen, really appreciate it!
Mads, you rock! Nigel, watching your videos DOESN’T GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS!! 👏👏👏🎉🥳
to be honest I am not so sure if the landscape photography is about to have a mules for to carry tons of gears, cameramen, editors and all that .. Nigel sold his soul for youtube videos and fame, maybe some $$ too .. I doubt that this tradeoff is any good ... and I am saying that as his follower and photographer too and his fan who is watching his videos almost from the beginning ..
@@sigsegv111 Why be so negative?
The film has the look and editing of a natural history program on TV. It's beautifully shot.
Thanks 🙏🏻
And the thumbnail has the look of a Mr beast video 😂
@@joel.wuestehube I noticed that too... 😄
@@joel.wuestehube 😉
That thumbnail made me ask: “wait a minute, is that Nigel?”
I'm lost for words, for me the finest hour watching landscape photography videos on RUclips I've ever experienced. Really well done. If ever a landscape photography TV series was produced this is exactly what I'd hope it would be like. Bravo 👏
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video, thank you.
This should be on TV Nigel, what a fantastically shot documentary of your time. The images were also amazing and the story was compelling. Can’t wait for part 2.
I agree this should be on a major TV network. Better than most of the celebrity reality TV by a country mile.
Thanks Ed 🙏🏻
@@serendigity Hardly a fair comparison!😀 But agree 100% about the standard. If they're not approaching at least some of the cable channels, they should be.
Your excitement is so infectious... I find myself grinning as I listen, then wonder why my face aches after 30 mins or so. WHAT A TOTALLY EXQUISITE location. Can't wait for the next episode.
Thanks!
It really doesn't get better than this!
This truly is a masterpiece video Nigel! Amazing shots, beautiful storytelling, and those last 5mins when you take in are very intimate and emotional. You really made me travel and feel with you through this video. I didn't see the 55mins pass, they literally flew! I'm really excited about the next episodes of this amazing trip, and very excited to get into my hands your book that I directly ordered! Thank you for sharing all this with us!
For me, on a channe like this I like to know what I’m looking at , is it F8 or 11 at 35 or 85 mm ! It makes a big difference. Stacked? HDR? And so on.
ISO is still BS as it has a big variation depending on camera manufacturers settings. Some metadata please!
My husband and I watch your videos on Sunday mornings. Thanks for sharing this with us. So beautiful. Loved the little Nigel moving across the map drawing 😂
I think we are witnessing some of your best ever work, just stunning.
Thanks so much!
When you share your eye, we all walk away with the teacher's gift. This was truly a wonderful video.
What you have done here Nigel will be the envy of virtually every landscape photographer on this planet. Who gets to spend a whole month away from family and go to a stunning location and come away with a body of work that will be talked about for a long time? The video footage is amazing, your commentary is inspiring and the photography is stunning. This deserves to be shown on a national TV channel. Well done Nigel, you deserve every positive comment coming your way.
Magical - it is over 50 years since I was on this beach and you have inspired me to feel this wonderful place once again.
I need to take off on my own to wild places a couple of times a year, and your musings on the glory of aloneness have moved me to tears.
Your choice of music is perfect.
Luskentyre is stunning and can change completely in the space of ten minutes. I feel very jealous of you being able to spend so much time there.
I love shooting astro there and have gotten so many amazing shots.
My favourite memory of there was lying back on the marram grass with a beer in my hand as I shot a timelapse of Orion rising and as I was looking up admiring the stars, a point of light appeared out of nowhere and kept going across the sky. After checking a couple of apps it turned out to be the ISS just coming out of the shadow of the earth.
This is exactly how my month at a 4 mile stretch of seaside landscape panned out. It was a recon mission, but call it what you want. It' was amazing, and lots of material. Proof, that shooting a landscape you know, is better. The conditions are neve the same, so you're bound to get new sights and insights. If it's close to home, you're in a luck. I thing I actually prefer the project-view of a shoot. Spending a number of days in a row in one location. It's gold!!
Maestro, my hat is off! Rick did an excellent job too. I can't believe myself being a street photographer but waiting for your next episode. Watch your back!!!
Thanks Bela 😊🙏🏻🙏🏻
My 6yo daughter and I watched the episode together! Should’ve counted how many times we said “wow”! :)
I believe it was an enormous amount of work to prepare this project, get there, shoot, post process images and prepare a documentary! Hats off!!!
I also believe you had put a lot of pressure on yourself before the trip, this I really do hope you are proud of yourself and happy with the results!!
I can only say I’m really grateful I came across your RUclips channel the other day, as your work and passion for photography inspire me to go out and shoot, experiment, fail and try again!
Thank you very much Nigel!
Can’t wait for the next episode:)
Very much enjoying this project by Nigel and Peter, two of the most brilliant young photo-artists coming out of Great Britain today! Have purchased both of Nigel’s photo books and am looking forward to his next big project. I would be frustrated if I didn’t know anything about the two talented minds that collaborated to make this 30 Days thing a reality.
You truly outdid yourself in this production, Nigel. Thank you for sharing this amazing corner of the world with us.
Glad you enjoyed it
That much flying sand is a pretty good reason for a second body/lens combo to avoid lens changes. Love the work! Glad you can spend the time!
Looking forward to watching this OK the big TV! One of my favourite places
Thanks - should look good big!
The magic about this is I felt exactly what you felt just by watching because I too had this moments of pure joy in front this kind of heavenly landscapes.
You've made me travel with you, thanks a lot !
Oh wow this is just an incredible video! I have thoroughly enjoyed this today and have had a comment I read playing over and over in my mind “none of us deserve to watch this for free” and I really think this is true but totally appreciate the fact you provide this phenomenal material to us at our fingertips. Cannot wait to get stuck in your part 2 and the rest of your videos. Thank you 🙏
I was thinking how much you have a true soul of an artist. No matter what you follow the call, struggle through and endure the irritations and inclinations of weather, or mother nature. You persist in spite of the wind...the rain...
Then, I shuddered. Vincent van Gogh and the mistrals or the ruthless searing sun. He saw beauty, as you do, which had to be expressed, shared, celebrated. You gave me a glimpse...a sense of his life. I pray that he had even moments like yours of gratitude and happiness...
I wish you many blessings.
Easily one of the best videos on RUclips. I think your videos when you just take us along on the adventure and not worry so much about teaching are your most epic!
Nigel, what can i say, that was just breathtaking , what a production, the B roll, the drone work was fantastic , you and Rick certainly made the most of that first week, absolutely blown away. So many great images from the patterns to ICM to the windy conditions with the spray off the waves and the images with the snow capped mountain, awesome ! A privilege to watch and enjoy, i sincerely hope your back has recovered and hope your on the mend from it long term. All the best :-)
Thank you Lee, really appreciate it 👍🏻
I lived there for 2 years - I think of it regularly and although I don't live there any more its still my spiritual home and a piece of it is with me all the time. Its fantastic to spend the full 30 days there - now you will be back there every time you just close your eyes.
i dont know what i like better, the results or the video of getting there. that scenery is so amazing! planet earth and mother nature keep hitting me everytime i see things like that. well done Nigel, well done!
You have caught the wildness and beauty of that place perfectly, even in your self filmed clips you can just imagine sitting there taking it all in. Truly outstanding filming and photography, a real credit to your talent. Can’t wait for next weeks.
Wonderful location Nigel. I have been into photography for over 40 years and travelled widely around the world, using all kinds of gear. The idea of basing in one location and seeing the landscape in depth over a range of weather conditions is great. I really enjoy your passion for photography and your willingness to challenge yourself in adverse conditions. Your philosophising strikes a chord with me. Keep up the great work.
A 1 hr full of real landscape photography! Really great project and great images. I ordered a copy of the book as well. As always well done!
Hi Nigel, I have been following your channel for years (maybe less lately for multiple reasons) and this video is my favourite you ever produced. The story telling is fantastic, I can feel your love for this project, the filming quality with having Rick just makes it much more cinematic... I was a bit worried by the hour-format but now I just hope for more of these long quality videos. Thank you for sharing your journey!
Thanks Antoine - glad you enjoyed it!
Wow, thank you!
Breathtaking, Nigel. You didn't exaggerate how amazing it all was in your preamble. Fantastic. Thank you.
Many thanks!
This video is just pure unfiltered landscape photography with it's highs, lows, tranquillity and organised chaos!! Recently the videos from the photography community has been dominated with tutorials, tips and gear advice (which is definitely valued)... but this video is exactly what has been missing! Although many of us amateurs haven't got the means to travel for 30 days at a time, this is the most relatable video I have seen conveying the excitement and emotion of being emersed in beautiful nature and trying to do the landscape justice during a shoot! Absolutely amazing work and the best video I have seen from the community in a long time! On to part 2! 🤩
Best work you have done Nigel. Your passion really comes through and carries your viewers along with you. What a great idea to spend a month at one location to become immersed into the true spirt of the place. I suspect a lot of photographers if they are able, will copy this idea and why shouldn't they when they see what will be a considered and reflective body of work. Great images of a stunning location and I cannot wait for the next episode.
Absolutely rivetting. I could watch this again and again. Some super light and patterns. I particularly liked the sand patterns. But all of it spectacular. Thanks so much. What an experience.
Many thanks!
Stunning video! Really enjoyed the long form format especially showing the preparation at home before leaving.
WOW, just wow. I can`t add anything different to what has already been written. The pictures, the videos, the drone work, the storytelling, the excitement, and the humbling that nature can provide. This is a video of utmost professionalism. Thank you so much for sharing. Brilliant. Well done Nigel, looking forward to seeing you next week.
It’s so great to watch you hoping for good conditions, knowing what was to come! Loved every minute of this. Looking forward to next wee’s instalment
I always love your videos, Nigel. I live in Colorado so gorgeous scenery is everywhere, but you take us to places we wouldn't get to see otherwise. And your tips are always so helpful. Even if I'm not ready to put all of them into practice right away I like and save the vids to come back to later. When Pebbles is with you it's just icing on the cake.😊
What a tremendous experience-love the way you have captured the natural and emotional beauty.
Can’t tell you how many times I said “that one is my favorite” during the video!
I was surprised that you didn’t start day 1 with an apple just to soak in the surroundings.
Oh wow, what an amazing video. Thank you so much for taking us along with you, I'm so inspired right now. So happy for you to be able to get and about doing what you love the most.
Well done, beachscapes are amazing, we've all had that experience of being set up in one spot and due to the changing light, clouds, and tide it gives you different images without ever moving at all, only as you scroll through the photos can you see the dramatic changes that have taken place before your eyes.
Beautiful, inspiring, uplifting, making-me-want-to-go-out-photographing, deep and thought-provoking. Thank you Neil!
This looks like a great location. You are living the dream!!
The sand blowing in the wind with slow shutter speed, that’s got to be my favorite
This video shows how much dedication you have for your craft!
Nigel, Thinking of your moments on the beach, you reflecting on the last couple of years, that it was tough, but how wonderful this day was just sitting there. For some reason, a quote from Martin Luther came to mind; "God creates out of nothing. Therefore, until a man has nothing, God can make nothing out of him." Looking forward to your continued video of Luskentyre.
Mate this was SO good! Everything about it!
The BBC should commission you for a series and just let you at it to do your thing!
Brilliant!
Thanks..
Excellent work Nigel. Being from Down Under, watching the wotk you do allows me to journey to parts of the world that I will probably never see.
Exceptional photos in a beautiful part of the world.
I am heading to Luskentyre next month and so re-watching these videos for inspiration. I will have your book with me as well. I only have a week but hope to see some of the dramatic conditions that helped to make your month's work so memorable! Thank you, once again, for the enthusiasm and energy you bring to your photography and for sharing this with us every week!
It's difficult to pick one location to say it's the best! The S-point was quite amazing, but so also many other locations! Fantastic Nigel!
Thanks for this video!
Hi Nigel: This was a beautiful video. The cinematography was breath-taking and it was very ease to feel your excitement in being part of this truly outstanding location. The images that you have shown thus-far are outstanding. I hope that you have an opportunity to show more of the planning that went into this type of adventure, such as safety concerns, and food & beverage planning. Can't wait until the next video. Cheers, Keith
Awesome! Thank you!
This has been a pleasure to watch. Excellent story telling, great videography and production. It is so inspirational to watch, I'm looking forward for the next episode
What a brilliant documentary. Can't wait for the second part. I do agree with your comments about familiarity of a scene, you can visit somewhere dozens of times but with different conditions there are different compositions every time.
Finally. And worth the wait. Man, the emotion in your voice sums it up nicely.
What a place.
Fantastic video, Nigel!! The only time my husband and I got to Luskentyre to try to shoot it the winds and rains were horrific! I felt for you with those needle sharp rains on your face.
You've captured the spirit of Luskentyre! Can't wait to see which images end up in your book.
I loved your enthusiasm and excitement....and 'it just doesn't get better than this'. I was giggling to hear you repeat that throughout. You are right!! It just doesn't get better.
What an amazing opportunity you created for yourself. I would love to be able to do the same type of project. With photography, I love being able to see things differently. You have the luxury of time to be able to wait for, and seek out, the best light, and explore your creativity with patterns while you notice the changes from day to day because of the changing tides and winds. The drone footage adds a great deal of context to your location. That was a bonus for the viewers. Lucky you to be able to catch the Auroras, too.
I like your style of photography as well as your easy-going presentational style. Thank you for bringing us along with you.
What a project Nigel and what a place. Look forward to seeing the other videos in this series. Sorry to see you suffer so much with your back. Great photos in the bag in part 1.
I loved every minute of this beautiful video, Nigel.
I felt I was right there, capturing the essence, breathing in the ozone, with every step, every pause, and sharing your pain, too - every single moment. I shed tears of emotion, while watching. Wow, indeed. Just wow! Time seemed to have slowed down in a beautiful way, you took us all there, in spirit, to soak in everything at every turn. Bless you thank you.
Absolutely brilliant, give yourself a big Pat on the back Nigel. Really what landscape photography is all about
I so appreciated the emotional content to taking photos and being able to slow down and enjoy.
WOW! Unfortunately I can’t express myself in a better way. So many beautiful photos, yes, it’s a magical place you’re at but to be able to capture that is really well done! It really shows how professional you are. I’m blown away by the content of this video. Thank for making it! 🩵
Thank you so much for all of your wonderful advice. You present it in such a simple and easy to digest manner, and it's improved my composition and editing immensely. Thank you so much, Nigel!
Nigel + 55min youtube - semi documentary! Doesn't get any better then this!😍
Those „map walks“ killed me 😂
Fantastic video & photos, just wow!!! Can’t wait for part 2!
I love your excitement and energy in this one. It’s really helpful to see your thought process as you find new compositions
The light on that first day alone was exquisite and worth the trip Nigel. I too had the problem of finding compositions without footprints or tyre tracks, in the desert in the UAE at the end of March.
Love love love this video. I’m so happy to see you out and photographing and sharing your excitement and joy with us. I also was so pleased to see your ICM images. Wonderful!
What an amazing adventure really well presented and filmed. Looking forward to the next one
Just magical. Coincidentally I was in Harris for a family holiday the day after this video came out and hadn’t had the chance to watch. Having been there for a short time makes this video you both made even more special. Amazing.
Thank you so much for all the give back that you do. You are always an inspiration, a mentor, and a companion in the back of my mind as I am shooting. Thank you. Thank you. THANK YOU SOOOOOOO MUCH !!!!!!!
Thanks!
Nighscapes made me speachless! Dear Nigel! We want more to see!
I tell you what Nigel.....'it doesn't get better than that', breathtaking from start to finish, well done 😁
What an epic adventure, so glad you are sharing it with us all. Some of my best photos come from going back to a location over and over again. Excited to see the next installment of the this series.
One of the best videos you’ve ever done I’d say , stunning images and big up to your cameraman
👊🏻 rick!
Thanks 😀
Love how you share this fantastic experience and your thoughts and thinking taking in these beautiful landscapes. Thanks 😁
I also love your enthusiasm. I find myself smiling as I watch.
I always love the peacefulness of your videos, and this is most certainly, no different. Great music in the background, super beautiful videography, you've managed to get out such a calmness, through this truly terrible conditions! All that wind and sand everywhere, must have been so difficult to deal with at some point. Anyways, this is truly epic and so very inspiring to watch, can't wait for the next one. I'm sure it's going to be a wonderful photography documentary, amazing work Nigel!
There is something about being alone with nature that provides one with a clarity that just can't otherwise be achieved. Absolutely awesome video. Next week can't came soon enough.
Absolutely stunning video Nigel. You are right in that it really doesn't get any better. The conditions you had that trip and more importantly that last week were just sublime. To think I was there for 10 days while you were there and for the conditions in the last week, well I'll let your viewers appreciate that when they see it. A pleasure to have met you also. I'm heading back up later in the year once it's quieter again for an extended trip. Thank you
Does it get any better than this? Some may try, most will fail. Absolutely outstanding.
I can’t wait to see how much younger you will look in the final video, Nigel.
The atmosphere of the place and your reaction to it is like watching you being plugged into the mains. Thank so much for this. Can’t wait for the other videos to come.
To contrast with your footsteps on the beach being rapidly lost to the wind, here in New Zealand my son went back to a beach cave to find (only) his footprints still there one year after his last visit.
Your passion for nature and photography is what makes your content so amazing. Thanks for sharing your journey and I can’t wait for the episodes to come.
Wow , quite simply the best two youtube video I have seen , the location is stunning the photography is mind blowing, the passion for photography that comes across which helps the rest of us with our photography. Thank you Nigel
Thanks - third one tomorrow which is my fav!
This is a fantastic start to your month-long adventure. The first instalment worked so well: given its length (I mean that as a positive) and your very clear descriptions of where exactly you were shooting, the viewer gets a much better feeling for how you went about getting your images and the challenges you faced in doing that. Viewers feel like they’re with you on that beach! Well done. I look forward to seeing what happened in the final 3 weeks.
A truly one-of-a-kind experience and photo tutorial! Can't say enough, Nigel... so well done.
Nigel, it was an absolute joy to watch your first week video! Looking forward to the next in the series😊
The planning you put into this is a great blueprint for what we all can do as landscape photographers. Thanks for walking us through your process and the amazing results.
What an amazing video Nigel, and stunning photos. Thanks for sharing that with us. I look forward to the next weeks !
One week to wait until the next episode. That's the only disappointment. Can't wait. Stunning filming and photography.
Oh, my goodness. I want to explore like this, sir. Since I have been following your instructions for the past three years, I have learned a lot of things from you and improved my photography. Thanks a lot for sharing your photography skills with us.
Absolutely incredible Nigel, you've really inspired me now, not just to get to places like this, but to document places over time! Brilliant work
The grass photo @ 49.36 captured the earth shadow beautifully in the background. I think its my fave for this video. Staying still and being contemplative in one place is not something that comes easily to us these days but you managed it so far and its why this video has that intangible something that says there's more to life than we credit. It gives us a chance to lay our placards down, stop up our mouths and simply give thanks.
The film has the look of a natural history documention on TV. Its incredibil. I love it!
Outstanding, Nigel! Loved watching the wave activity, seeing patterns in the sand and most importantly, filming one area. You're right, focus on a given location and learn it.
Excellent Nigel! Loved the video and the shots you got. I truly gets me into a tranquil mind space. I must've watched this more than twice. Look forward to the book.
What a wonderful exposition of photographic talent and perseverance! Thanks Nigel.
Awesome Nigel! A very inspiring video with many facets. I find the idea of spending a certain amount of time in a selected place and working out the numerous "beauties" simply fascinating. Great job Nigel!
Lovely video Nigel!
So inspiring!
Especially the period of taking a long time to explore one location peacefully.
Getting free from all daily stress and obligations.
Love it, thank you!!
These photos are EPIC! You are one fortunate guy to have this opportunity! Thanks for taking me along!
