@@HikeOregon awesome thanks..I use the osprey far point 40 and it's fantastic for my back... The conventional backpack styles like this usually don't do my back well, but I've ordered it nevertheless so I can try it out... So thanks!
What about trying the new Osprey Eja or Lumina? My torso is 18” so I hear you on being in between sizes. I purchased the new Eja 48 in in Small/medium and it fits perfectly.
The Eja doesn’t have hip belt pockets which was a huge turn off for me. But other than that I think it looks like an awesome pack and I’d totally get it if it had hip belt pockets.
Hike Oregon yes, this was a big downside for me too! I clip a 1L stuff sac on my shoulder strap for my phone as this was really all I used my hip belt pockets for. Have you found a different bag you’ll be taking on the PCT? What about a Cottage Industry brand instead of the bigger name brands? ZPacks, ULA, Granite Gear, etc?
Thank you for the review ! I've been looking for a backpack bigger than 40L, for a 7 days trip. I'm a quite small person and my torso is on the short side, the seller recommended me this one but I'm not sure it would be nice. What do you guys think ? Is there another suitable option that's not too expensive ? Thank you so much again !
Hi! What does the back system look like after long-term use please? Has it any color change on the foam? Because on my backpack are beginning to occur a brown spots (on the light gray part of foam).
Thnx for the review! :) So you are not going to use the Kyte for your PCT-long distance hike...right? Keep on keeping on and all the best from Berlin/Germany to you and your loved ones✌🏻
Osprey packs are good the air- gravity system is the best but as I have become a more avid backpacker and section hiker I am personally more into packs from ULA and Zpacks which seem better thought out ! ULA is about the same as osprey in price but zpacks of course is about $150 more.
Sweet Congrats on the Hike , Just Placed My Order with all upgrades I wanted, extra lumbar support, 2 large belt pockets, 2 upper side mesh pockets, side tie down straps, v strap for Bear can $430.00
interesting review. I wonder why they changed the back panel like that. It would probably be better is they could make a hard plastic mesh or x shape structure with soft rubber plastic for the portion that touches the back. Stucture and breathability. Also, why do none of the RUclipsrs for backpacking ever talk about Gregory packs? It's either z packs or osprey.
Hike Oregon I get that, I like the way my baltoro fits but I'm a big guy with wide shoulders at 6'2". I am just surprised all the RUclipsrs I've seen never talk about them when they are comparable to osprey.
You say the straps that supposed to be to hold on the sleeping pad originate at the bottom "front" of the pack (seems to me to be the base of the "back" of the pack since it is last part of the pack to go down the trail - but ok, everyone gets to be his/her own lexicographer). As a result you say the sleeping pad bounces around and that it would be better if the straps originated at the bottom forward edge of the pack, in the vicinity of where the shoulder straps fasten to the bottom of the pack. But you say this design would not be a problem if you used a different sleeping pad that packed down smaller and fit inside the pack. But what about someone who wanted to attach something else there? For example, a climbing rope or a stuff bag with rain gear or a bear canister or a tent or or or? And speaking of climbing gear: what about loops and straps for an ice ax or a place to lash on crampons?
It has an ice ax strap :) And those straps at the bottom would be perfect for something smaller like trekking poles or rope, etc. The sleeping mat because of it's edges was just really awkward right there.
I have this one and love it but since my sleeping bag takes up a lot of space I need a bigger one for overnight trips where I have to bring food edit: Oh I actually have the old one, this one looks a bit different (different straps and side entrance pocket)
Always disappointing with a piece of gear doesn't work out Sometimes you're older pieces of gear are better than new ones..😭 I was going to use the z pack Found it didn't hold a candle to the comfort of my Osprey atmos
Not sure what you’re talking about. The footage is not upside down, I filed the backpack from the top. I was in the field and there was no place to set the camera unfortunately and I was returning the backpack right after this trip, so this was as good as it was going to get. At 2:15 I film the pack straight on, so it's not filmed from the top the whole time.
I am definitely not cheap, I just can’t afford that right now. I bought a ton of gear for the PCT this year and a backpack was not in the budget. I exchanged my old one at REI because it was broken so I don’t actually get my money back because I’ve owned it for two years, I just get an exchange.
I just got this backpack! My very first. I also got it because it has an exterior hydration compartment! Just fyi!
Love the honesty and you mention a lot of the practical features which a lot of others miss out on...thanks!!!!!
It’s a great pack if it had worked for my back.

Hey, great video! I wonder if with the size of this backpack can it be on the plane as a carry on?
I believe so. It’s a really small pack.
Just bought this pack. What sleeping bag do you use? Mine is too big to fit in this bag and I would prefer it inside!
I have a zpacks 5 degree bag.
Just got this one for my 4 day multi hike here in New Zealand
Thank you so much big sister♥️✨
Thank you for following!

I repurchased the Aura cause I know I love that pack.

This is a bit too small for a 7 day trip in my opinion. I love my Osprey Aura. I’d get a 50-60L pack.
@@HikeOregon Awesome, thank you so much ! Have a nice day ;)

Like I said in the video, I returned this backpack to the store about this review and one trip with it. So I have no idea.
@@HikeOregon Sorry, I didn't see video, I wrote you when I have seen this backpack 😇

Correct! I returned it right after this hike.
Great review.
super informative video, but can you not film upside down again? :D it felt super weird watching the video ;)

I'm about to order the Arc Haul Today, Looking for someone to help measure my Torso So I Order the Correct Size... lol
Dave Elias that's awesome my next pack will be one as well I am only a year into my ULA Circuit so I cannot justify it yet!
I'm Gearing up for the JMT in Sept./Oct.
Dave Elias that's cool finishing up 110 mile section of the PCT in Oregon which will complete Oregon for me then onto section hiking Washington!

I tried on a Gregory pack in the store and didn’t like the way it for my body. But I had an older Gregory pack for years when I was younger.

Are you able to attatch a pair of snowshoes onto the back using those compression straps?
Easily. You could also put them in the mesh pouch.
Could you share your torso length? Mind is 17 inch and I find I am a bit in between size for this bag...
I think mine is 16.5
@@HikeOregon thank you! It eventually fits me and am very happy with it!

Good review I'm getting ready to buy me another one too James KCMO always enjoy your views
very nice review. thanks.
Does that fit for a M-L torso?
I think I got an M. You’d have to go get fitted though to see what size would work best for you.
I'm at around 18 inches. And I preferred the women's specific design since the shoulder strap is soft and comfortable to carry.
I think I remember getting the larger one so this would work for 18 inches.

I was able to get all my gear and 6 days worth of food in this pack. It’s very roomy for only being 46L.
How tall are you?
5’5

Yep, I actually repurchased the Aura because I know I love it and I don’t have $420 to spend on a zpacks pack.
Hike Oregon Yep I love your video about weight shame and gear shaming So true and on point
Thank you!!
Upside down the whole time...? Sheeez

Quite being so cheap and get yourself a zpacks backpack..
You will not regret it...they are hands down the best back pack
