Great video. Thank you! I’ve used electric carving knives to cut foam and have always struggled with obtaining a clean, straight edge. I’m excited to try your perfectly vertical cutting position with the plywood guide! What a fantastic result. Thanks again!
Great video🤙.. I purchased mine from Foam Global they sell the foam mattress only no fiber glass cover but you only get the foam no outer cover . Great cutting tips.
I think the inner liner's purpose is fireproofing, and is likely made of fiberglass. It's best to avoid mattresses with fiberglass as over time the shards can leak out and lead to health issues. CA already banned them, effective 2027.
Use a mask when cutting and cover the mattress when done.... Fiberglass is definitely irritating, but as a former child of DIY old house owning parent... I did lots of fiberglass insulating in my formative years, worst thing was the irritating if I didn't wear gloves...
I definitely plan on doing this, but I saw some Amazon reviews discussing fiberglass contamination after removing the cover on the mattress you linked. Was this a concern in your conversion? Thanks!
As somebody who saw all the comments on fiberglass, and was worried it was the new asbestos scandal. I can say I think it's just people who had no exposure to fiberglass in the past we're surprised to find out it can create tiny little cuts and irritate your skin. It's probably not best to put it under your nose and take deep breaths.... From what I can tell that's the extent of it. I feel like the word fiberglass is now such a hot word I wanted to add this comment to help squelch anyone else who thought they were going to need to join a class action lawsuit due to previous exposure like I did at first
How funny😂 I clicked the link for the mattress and it's the same one we have on our bed at home. It's a great mattress! We've had it for 5 years now.
THANKS!!! Have to convert from RV queen to king and will be doing this!

What product did you use for the cheesecloth mattress cover you mentioned?
I just back on the cheese cloth that comes with the mattress.

We put the covers back on after cutting.
