  • Classic cars, garages and workshops found in Devon & across the border in Somerset make up this car discoveries upload. I wasn't sure that we'd stumble across much of interest during our time in the South West of England, given that we weren't actively looking for old cars most of the time, more just keeping our eyes and ears open to any opportunities that came along.
I needn't have worried, classic cars in Devon are definitely there for the finding.
Included are five - yes five - Austin A40 Farina discoveries, including one seen driving along in Dartmouth and tracked down to a nearby car park for a closer look. Three others were found in a wonderful old 1930s garage, that also was home to an amazingly-equipped engineering workshop - heaven for anyone with an interest in running classic cars. We got to hear about this place after chatting to the owner of another garage we stumbled across, demonstrating that getting out and about talking to fellow classic car enthusiasts is a great way to track down amazing places and car collections.
A preserved garage from the 1930s - once frequented by Laurence of Arabia no less - is another unexpected sighting covered in this video.
Other classic cars spotted in and around workshops in the area make it into this upload too, including a near-unique coachbuilt conversion of an already oddball French classic, a Silver Shadow in dire need of restoration, a crumbling VW camper, a spider-friendly Rover spotted down a quiet country lane, a 1950s Cadillac, a V8-powered Rover P4, a late example of Marina Coupe, a patina-laden Mk1 Cortina, a selection of American pickup trucks, plus others. We also grabbed a little footage of a '49 Chevrolet that loomed into our mirrors while driving along, and take a walk around of a vintage toy shop.
My thanks to everyone who agreed to me mooching around their classic cars, grabbing some footage for OCC followers to enjoy, and taking time out of their day to have a chat.
Footage taken in a Devon classic car museum will follow on later in a separate upload.
Where should we next go hunting classic cars? What parts of the country do you recommend? Let me know in the comments please!!!!
