I’m just indulging in a trip down memory lane, a long trip. We, in north Durham sang this at school, along with My Bonnie Lies Over The
Ocean. I feel I’m privileged to live in a part of the country where we are all proud of our heritage. I feel blessed that I was given an education. I’ll say no more except that these and many others are no longer heard in our schools.
come on Guys... this Patriotic Yorkshire. I flay our flag all over the world..
The rose point at the bottom. However, if your from East Yorkshire you can flay it upside down. It's to do with the war of the Roses...

May I ask a you question-purely out of intellectual curiousity?
If we take for granted that the majority of humanity is born and raised in one location-of various ranges-, then what is it in particular, and specifically, about your home county that makes you proud to be from there? I'm curious, as I was born in the north of England but raised somewhere else, so I'm wondering about the nature of tribalism.
I like this song and wood lick to see independence for all of Yorkshire so I kids can have a better future

My cousin attended Ilkley College, and ever since the singing of Ilkla Moor Bah t'at was forbidden in her house, as every time she told someone she went there, these clever and original Brits would sing the song to her, or at least the chorus!
Love it!!
And the tune works SO well for "Oh, For A Thousand Tongues To Sing".
God's own County. Its my pleasure to walk in my Kingdom in Heaven.
thank you for this.
I don't know how this version goes over in Yorkshire, but it's very entertaining in Connecticut. I like an "anthem" that doesn't take itself too seriously. Our state song is Yankee Doodle.
Love it.
The tune was written by Canterbury shoemaker Thomas Clark, and is named after the Weald of Kent town of Cranbrook. True story! Respect to Yorkshire from Kent
… then Brian Blessed starts rapping to a mashed up colliery band. Ecky thump, this Yorkshire tea’s reet gradely.
In the RAF early 1946 the blokes in our hut from up north used to sing this when they were home sick, the Welshmen had their songs and we English sang ours all at the same time. We were all 17 to 18 years old,.
Greetings from your southern neighbours in Derbyshire. Spent many a time in South Yorkshire (Sheffield etc) in my late teens, due to work, and my old gaffer is from Hillsborough, and still in contact with him some 25 years later. Still love the place now, and love upsetting the Lanc's folks with a good bottle of Hendo's (As I did last week going through Manchester etc!). Always considered the place as my 2nd home.

True Yorkshire response "Bugger Off".
I somehow remember that having been said in the Lake District too. At least I'm pretty sure that was one of my father's all time favourites.
My parents were YHA wardens from 43 till 61, so I could sing that whole song before I was eight and we left for Germany. But I had always wondered what "anilklymorbatat" was.
So now I know what it is, where it is, what it looks like and how to write it.
