THIS IS PART 2 OF THE GMC / NPR KING PIN REPLACEMENT. WARNING! I REPEAT SOME INFORMATION IN THIS VIDEO OVER FOR THOSE WHO HAVE NEVER DONE IT BEFORE AND LOOKING FOR SOME HELP.
I Never get bored of listening and watching you on your jobs. Love ya work. 👍👍👍
Been doing king pins 35+ years . I've never used a press . I always use a 5 pound hammer and a punch to drive them out. And a feeler gage for shims. 1/2 hour 45 minutes per side. I'll bet the previous repair they clocked the kingpin and drove the wedge bolt in to straighten it. Hence the mushrooming.
i believe you are right.
Very informative. I'm doing a king pin job ok my 2002 NPR right now. I got lucky and only needed a big punch and hammmer to get the pins out.
Correct tools usually help the job go better real expensive for 1 time use but you will get enough use out of it to earn its keep. Another great job and you don’t cut corners thanks for taking us along! Tom
i have done 2 other trucks since this video.....money well spent!
You did a great job explaining things. I was excited to see the tiger tool until I heard it was 1700!!
Man the days of beating on a hand made T punch held by the 1st year a prentice with a 12 lb sledgehammer are over,, nice pice of kit sir
That tool seemed to work pretty slick J.C 🙂👍
I made a kingpin tool in my shop for a Lot less than $2000. With premium grade steel, cutter wheels, torch, and welder.
the next time i do this same process im going to use a torch. that looked so much easier.
I used a dremel tool with a cut off wheel and made a channel that went partly around the inner cast bushing hole. as the bushing have a tendency to turn, cutting in an extra channel allows grease to flow into the bushings regardless.
_A brilliantly designed tool, I can see why you were singing it's praises. Talk about a labor saver. Great job with the how-to explanation.

That’s a great informative video my friend, always a pleasure to watch your “ no BS” content. Love the Tiger Tools, made in Canada 🇨🇦 too. My Mac Tools dealer is also my Tiger Tool dealer, same price as the truck part supply shop but I like to support the small businesses too.
sure appreciate that. i figure no one comes to see fancy editing garb....they want to see the what, why and how. dont want to waste anyone's time!
Fully support buying tools from local businesses too. I used to go to one place for everything and it was handy that way as if anything ever broke, returns were super easy given how local they were.
Also enjoy the videos and think the editing is just fine.
Thanks great review and how to I’ve been avoiding buying one of these trucks because I didn’t know how to tackle the front end problems as most used ones have break and pin problems when there in my price range
Good job, I watched your stuff awhile back when you worked mainly on pick ups glad I came back. I would buy a truck from you anytime, you are one piticular guy. Sorry can’t spell
I love watching professionals work
I'll add to that. Someone that cares and wants to do it right the first time, every time
For just a little more time and effort (hurry up and slow down) you can do the job properly the first time and save yet more time and $$ down the track fixing your mistakes.
At least you know as JC videos his work if you brought a truck from him you see what he has done,
How many other truck dealers do that?
Tony from Western Australia.
I need one of those, definitely beats using an air hammer
The best lubricant to use on tool threads like that press, pullers, installers is either moly (molydisulfide) lube or EP #2 grease. Both have very high lubricity and friction reducing qualities. Used on rod bolts, head studs, pushrod ends flat tappet style lifters, etc. Not to be confused with assembly lubes.
i usually use high pressure grease. that is not what tiger tool recommended.....they built it, i went with what they suggested.
Great demo JC!
Very nice good trucks
You got good good good trucks you should put a big tow truck
Use an adjustable reamer to fit the pins to the Bushings much more accurate all round
I bought the otc hydrolic press , never need to heat and no impact needed it was 1750.00 on amazon was best price out there but worth every penny .... if u where closer i would let ya try it out
Very informative like your method perfectionist everything works as it should do it right or don't do it at all.
I use the correct bushing driver to install the bushings and I've never had to hone them to fit. I specialize in npr trucks and I've done 23 kingpin jobs. This job is about impossible without the specialized tools
Nice setup 👌, if people would do the job correctly the first time there would be no issues.
Hey bud I really admire your technique keep up the good work
Rosebud made it happen to free the frozen pin. The tiger tool is a product of great engineering hence the cost.
I just picked up a isuzu npr thank you for the video
I work at a Isuzu dealership and wish i had a press like that to do these. we never use the old shims but we do keep all the shims in stock so i just go get the ones i need
👍Best most comprehensive vid ive seen on kingpin replacement and use of the tiger tool press do you prefee using the cylinder hone or would an adjustable reamer be bettee?
i have never used an adjustable reamer so i cant say.
Very thorough, nice work
looks like it works pretty good. iv done a few of those seized npr kingpins they can be a bear.
Cool tool. Good video
You what I call a professionals
Thank you very much for the quality video and detailed explanation.
I'm about to do a my first NPR, this will be helpful.
Question: I know the correct bushing install tool is the best way but everybody has them on backorder. What are my options?
There's no seals in the spindle bores on them like the big trucks to keep water out ? Usually i get a shim kit in the king pin set as standard
there is a seal on top but i lost the video of it being installed.
Thanks for such an informative video
Aclaró que no se debe de calentar ( pónganle agua de un día para otro y verán que fácil sale , el agua afloja todo el agua se trasmite .
Kit is $1,700 wow guess you can’t live without.
i have done 6 trucks with this kit so far. like any quality tool, it is an investment. by the time i close up and retire, this tool will have paid for itself many many times over plus!
Looks like what I need to do kingpins on my f super duty's as they have a similar drop I beam solid axle.
works very well eric. great investment if you will do king pins on your trucks.
Pretty slick!
by chance do you have a 2004 Sterling LT8500 lower grill ? That you would sale.
I once saw a RUclips video we’re a gentleman used a modified harbor freight press to remove stubborn king pins. I think it’s Ezrider92356
that would be correct. he is a friend of ours,
That JC has to be the best explanation of using a dial indicator that I have seen so far, very understandable and comprehend with the pictures as well grin
So often when you see machinists using them in videos in a machine shop they already assume that you have a basic knowledge of their operating procedure or that as they are so familiar with the use they forget that other people can't "see" what they see in their explanation are are left scratching their heads.

Wassup JC
That`s bs tool!
50 ton bottle jack + some welding = real tool!
you do whatever you want but dont belittle this tool. not everyone wants a homemade tool. some people want professional quality.
@@j.c.smithprojects This tool is useless, because the force it creates can easily be replaced with a stupid hammer.
If you face a really stuck pin, you will know that.
tell me how you feel about swinging that hammer over and over once you get older.
