I absolutely cannot wait for your season 2 reactions; season 1 is amazing and iconic, but the second season doesn't have any dull moments. It's incredibly rare for a show to not have single "okay" episode across an entire season, but this show managed it (at least for me). The animation, the storytelling, the character development, the representation is TOP TIER! I know you're going to love every second of it :)
I'm surprised that the 'leave a light on' part tripped you. It's like a beacon, a "faro". Leave a light on so I can find my way home, I'm coming back, etc. The first example that comes to mind is in Full Metal Alchemist. The protagonists are visiting their hometown, walking at night, remembering how their mother used to light a lantern for them. But they don't live in their hometown anymore, they don't even have a house; and then they see a light. It's their neighbour and childhood friend, waiting for them.

One of my favorite subtle jokes in the series is that Lilith spits out blue feathers, implying that she ate that small bird that was on her head. Also, Belos's castle being a "symbol of unity" despite being completely cut off from the rest of the isles is both very ironic and some great foreshadowing for later

Episode 18: So this fight really puts into perspective how much neither Lily or Eda were taking the battle back in episode 5 seriously. Genuinely that was just them messing around and having a sibling spat. They are (or I guess were by the end of episode 19) very powerful witches. Spencer Wan animation popping off. "Then why were you so easy to curse!" Oh, gee, Lily. I don't know. Maybe because she was a kid asleep in her bed in her home where she thought she'd be safe. It really is a mystery. .... Sorry but that line is so fun to poke at. Mae Whitman only had one line made of two words during this finale. The injustice. Wow, that commentary on the rewriting of history. Love how when Kiki talks about the Wild Ages it's painted as if they were celebrating but then later in the throne room it's very much implied it was the complete opposite. So good. Speaking of our Fearless Emperor, that diet of Palismen seems to be a real struggle, my guy. Man needs get some carbs, I hear it's good for the soul. Episode 19: So many villains just don't understand that if they don't keep their word they're gonna lose that person's loyalty. The 'Keep Off the Grass' bit is freakin hilarious. It has no right to be that funny. WE LOVE THE FOUND FAMILY TROPE! The little voice crack on "But we're a family. Us weirdos need to stick together." Kill me! The fact that Lily cursed her sister for no reason in the end. Eda, loved her sister so much, that she was willing to let Lily have their dream. I'm not saying I don't get why Lily did it, she was a kid and made a mistake. That sucks. Most of my problems with Lily are everything that she did after as an adult. Still love her though. The hand on Kiki's head is just her "hair." Several demons and witches have similar "hair" pieces. I love the idea of the student now teaching her master this new way of doing magic. So so good. See you for season 2 my dude. It's an improvement in every way, which is saying a lot considering how fun season 1 was overall.
I looove this comment. I do have to say that it's hard to blame Lilith much for her actions; she was probably constantly abused and manipulated into loyalty. Even the short span of time we see her in the Emperor's Coven, she is SUPER stressed out, and that's the way that Belos keeps his cult under control.

I haven't seen anyone mention it, but when Lilith enters the castle, she spits out blue feathers and wipes her mouth. She also has a blue feather on her nose, which means she ate the bird that was taunting her.
To be honest, at first, I'm very meh with TOH when I first finished the series before you did. I always thought that Gravity Falls is much better for me. But somehow, as I rewatch it through your reactions and through your point of view, TOH seems more than amazing than I first seen it. It's astounding how you make this series really worth watching for me and it feels like I'm seeing something really special when it's you reviewing it. This finale episode is amazing! You know it's a really, really good batch of episodes when the Korra meow censoring makes more than a dozen appearances lmao. First, on the episodes: they make such a great finale, and I love how much the animators truly can get done when the budget goes up in big fights. As per usual I love your very nuanced opinions and the way you approach characters who could easily be simply written off as "nope, wrong, evil, they did a bad!", and you always look for how age, outside circumstances and history plays into it. I love Lilith, a really great, really flawed character. But then again, most of the best and most relatable characters are openly flawed one way or another! Very excited to see how you feel about how the story goes on and see what theories you come up with, because this show really does keep you guessing. Two, on your video work: i'm not sure what else I could say except "excellent" and "some of your best work", 100%. That was really amazing, the LotR references inserted in made my heart happy because I actually hadn't thought about those, and overall just brilliant work, no matter how long the wait is for these videos, between your editing and your commentary/humour, it's always going to be worth it. 👏As for favourites, I can't even pick a favourite colour, so uhhhh... until next time, a very happy Pride month (and Pride always) to you, and keep being your absolutely wonderful self! 🤘

Really enjoyed watching you react to season one and can't wait for season 2 reactions. I'll throw a few answers on here for you. First, I think I'll stick to Dark-Cry, I enjoy the way it sounds. Secondly, I don't think this will really spoil anything, but I think that is supposed to be the titan's hand in the painting. Season 1 favorite is Luz, it's always Luz for me. Season 1 fav scene is probably the Grom Dance, there are two tied for a close second; Luz figuring out the light glyph and Amity turning around, after she'd made up her mind to leave, to accept the book from Luz and start their friendship. Small moments that lead to more. Favorite season 1 ep is Lost in Language. They do so much here. First, we get insight into Amity through things like the diary and from how she calls Luz a bully. Secondly, you can start to pick up on some physical things they consistently draw Amity doing. For instance, she's left-handed, she runs or walks away when things get to intense, she throws her hands down to her sides and hunches her shoulders when she's angry (like she is trying to make herself bigger, the same way a cat does,) Lastly, the go through the entire Rival to Friends arch in one episode in a way that's believable. Oh, and favorite reaction is a tie. Grom and First Day. Grom for obvious reasons and First Day for the joy of watching you figure out Amity liked Luz from a single line. Sorry, can't explain Crikey to you, it's a secret. 😉

Hmm. Never thought of this before, Spoiler Warning for those who have not completed Season 2... (come back after you get there!!!) and I may be wrong, but I don't think the Puritans approved of illustrative art in their churches especially in the 1600's when Phillip/Belos came to the Boiling Isles. As I said, I might be wrong and I should ask some friends who are Congregationalists (in a sense, the modern descendants of the Puritans) whether I have that right. If so, however, I thought of it when you pointed out the religious aspects of the art. It is odd that Belos would have such leaded/stained glass portraits all over his castle, though.

I can't believe some people are still going off on Lilith after episode 19. She sacrificed her coven, her life, her magic... to mend a mistake she made as a teenager; one that she was desperately trying to fix for decades. What more do these haters want!?
I can understand that tbh, but I DEFINITELY felt for Lilith and always wantyed to understand where she was coming from! Love her character so much, one of my favs from the show

I was a Patron sub for a while (I’m Star Kid 😊 had to leave after Korra wrapped due to my financial situation at the time, and I haven’t seen The Dragon Prince & She-Ra yet - they’re on my list!), but I’m thinking I need to rejoin soon so I can hear ALL of your Owl House thoughts :) As for my faves this season: Character - Eda, we have a very similar sarcastic sense of humor, and I love how she views and describes magic (Ex from Ep3: “…but magic isn’t proper! It’s _wild_ and _unpredictable_ , that’s what makes it so _beautiful!_ ” - I teach biology and it’s a very similar sentiment to why I love my subject so much) Moment - Episode 4 (The Intruder), as Eda’s about to scold King for stealing her elixir and he interrupts her to point out Luz drawing light glyphs. As a teacher, King’s line “she did it all on her own” brings a tear to my eyes, knowing what a struggle regular school is for students like her. They often feel like they’re stupid, but in truth they’re not being given the proper tools and experiences that allow them to take their learning into their own hands because the way they learn is different from the majority. I wish I could differentiate every lesson I write for every student I teach, but that’s just not feasible when you’ve got 6-7 classes of 25+ students each and only one planning period a day (that you’ll frequently be asked to give up to cover other classes because of teacher & substitute shortages). The system is just as bad for teachers as it is for students in many ways /: seeing Luz get to express how much she actually loves learning throughout the show & seeing her take to magic like a fish to water because of it just warms my heart Episode & Reaction of yours: Enchanting Grom Fright, for all the obvious reasons lol

My favorite character is still King. It's not really because of Season 1, but I appreciate his character even in Season 1 a lot more after "Echoes of the Past". And didn't have an opinion on my favorite character before late Season 2 anyway. I'm very excited to see your reactions to what happens with him in Season 2! Favorite episode of Season 1 is "Agony of a Witch". That episode just kind of blew everything that came before out of the water for me. My favorite reaction of yours... Not sure. There's a lot of things you've noticed and picked up on that I didn't while watching, so... "I Was A Teenage Abomination" for how you figured out Amity IMMEDIATELY. Most underrated episode... I think "Sense and Insensitivity" or "Really Small Problems", especially the former. These episodes aren't well-liked, and their quality isn't the best, but I appreciate them a lot more knowing more about King's character. And favorite moment? I think it's between Luz finding the light glyph in "The Intruder", and Luz and King being adorable siblings at the beginning of "Really Small Problems" I love these two so much they're adorable.

Abt Belos's coven system being a theocratic monarchy. I can definitely see this and the theme of religious leaders who use their power and influence over people to mold the religion they're representing to their liking is definitely there, but as a person from Ukraine (a country formerly occupied by Soviet Union) the coven system really reminded me of communism. Allow me to explain. In the coven system everything is controlled by 1 political system, that being the 10 covens. U r either a part of this system and therefore work for it, or u'll never be accepted by society and will be considered a traitor. That's really similar to the Communist party in USSR. Everyone who wanted to achieve anything had to be a member of the party, but even if u weren't, u were definitely a member of Comsomol. and even before that in school everyone had to be a pioneer. But that's not the main thing that reminds me of communism here. The main thing is taking a natural concept that is a part of our society and was originally meant to battle inequality, but can be bad in evil hands and making it (and people associated with it) public enemy. In communism's case that's money (I know some people don't think money is good, but they were created so that no matter what u produced u could always get what u need from others, a pretty equalising cause) and in Boiling Isles's - wild magic. It really did remind me of that a lot. And the further political structure shown in s2 reminds me of that even more. Not to mention the Day of Unity, which can both be read as smth religious and as the coming of true communism.
to answer the question "Adventures in the Elements" is verry important "Enchanting Grom Fright" is very beloved by the fandom I think "Wing It Like Witches" goes up as the episode Im most hyped to see over and over. favorite character IS in season 1 but there's no context for that person yet as they have been very little air time and in the background so far At THIS point of the story I would say Willow, Amity or King other characters who HAVE been in the episodes get better next season so my answer will change then and then there is Tibbles no one likes him I can lock him down right now as hated and boring. not all the way at the bottom but close to it. he's not going to do any thing important so I can lock in his rating right now.

I'm surprised that the 'leave a light on' part tripped you. It's like a beacon, a "faro". Leave a light on so I can find my way home, I'm coming back, etc. The first example that comes to mind is in Full Metal Alchemist. The protagonists are visiting their hometown, walking at night, remembering how their mother used to light a lantern for them. But they don't live in their hometown anymore, they don't even have a house; and then they see a light. It's their neighbour and childhood friend, waiting for them.

One of my favorite subtle jokes in the series is that Lilith spits out blue feathers, implying that she ate that small bird that was on her head.
Also, Belos's castle being a "symbol of unity" despite being completely cut off from the rest of the isles is both very ironic and some great foreshadowing for later

Episode 18: So this fight really puts into perspective how much neither Lily or Eda were taking the battle back in episode 5 seriously. Genuinely that was just them messing around and having a sibling spat. They are (or I guess were by the end of episode 19) very powerful witches. Spencer Wan animation popping off.
"Then why were you so easy to curse!" Oh, gee, Lily. I don't know. Maybe because she was a kid asleep in her bed in her home where she thought she'd be safe. It really is a mystery. .... Sorry but that line is so fun to poke at.

The hand on Kiki's head is just her "hair." Several demons and witches have similar "hair" pieces.
I love the idea of the student now teaching her master this new way of doing magic. So so good.

To be honest, at first, I'm very meh with TOH when I first finished the series before you did. I always thought that Gravity Falls is much better for me. But somehow, as I rewatch it through your reactions and through your point of view, TOH seems more than amazing than I first seen it. It's astounding how you make this series really worth watching for me and it feels like I'm seeing something really special when it's you reviewing it. This finale episode is amazing! You know it's a really, really good batch of episodes when the Korra meow censoring makes more than a dozen appearances lmao. First, on the episodes: they make such a great finale, and I love how much the animators truly can get done when the budget goes up in big fights. As per usual I love your very nuanced opinions and the way you approach characters who could easily be simply written off as "nope, wrong, evil, they did a bad!", and you always look for how age, outside circumstances and history plays into it. I love Lilith, a really great, really flawed character. But then again, most of the best and most relatable characters are openly flawed one way or another! Very excited to see how you feel about how the story goes on and see what theories you come up with, because this show really does keep you guessing. Two, on your video work: i'm not sure what else I could say except "excellent" and "some of your best work", 100%. That was really amazing, the LotR references inserted in made my heart happy because I actually hadn't thought about those, and overall just brilliant work, no matter how long the wait is for these videos, between your editing and your commentary/humour, it's always going to be worth it. 👏As for favourites, I can't even pick a favourite colour, so uhhhh... until next time, a very happy Pride month (and Pride always) to you, and keep being your absolutely wonderful self! 🤘

Really enjoyed watching you react to season one and can't wait for season 2 reactions. I'll throw a few answers on here for you. First, I think I'll stick to Dark-Cry, I enjoy the way it sounds. Secondly, I don't think this will really spoil anything, but I think that is supposed to be the titan's hand in the painting.
Season 1 favorite is Luz, it's always Luz for me. Season 1 fav scene is probably the Grom Dance, there are two tied for a close second; Luz figuring out the light glyph and Amity turning around, after she'd made up her mind to leave, to accept the book from Luz and start their friendship. Small moments that lead to more. Favorite season 1 ep is Lost in Language. They do so much here. First, we get insight into Amity through things like the diary and from how she calls Luz a bully. Secondly, you can start to pick up on some physical things they consistently draw Amity doing. For instance, she's left-handed, she runs or walks away when things get to intense, she throws her hands down to her sides and hunches her shoulders when she's angry (like she is trying to make herself bigger, the same way a cat does,) Lastly, the go through the entire Rival to Friends arch in one episode in a way that's believable.
Oh, and favorite reaction is a tie. Grom and First Day. Grom for obvious reasons and First Day for the joy of watching you figure out Amity liked Luz from a single line.

and I may be wrong, but I don't think the Puritans approved of illustrative art in their churches especially in the 1600's when Phillip/Belos came to the Boiling Isles. As I said, I might be wrong and I should ask some friends who are Congregationalists (in a sense, the modern descendants of the Puritans) whether I have that right. If so, however, I thought of it when you pointed out the religious aspects of the art. It is odd that Belos would have such leaded/stained glass portraits all over his castle, though.

I was a Patron sub for a while (I’m Star Kid 😊 had to leave after Korra wrapped due to my financial situation at the time, and I haven’t seen The Dragon Prince & She-Ra yet - they’re on my list!), but I’m thinking I need to rejoin soon so I can hear ALL of your Owl House thoughts :)
As for my faves this season:
Character - Eda, we have a very similar sarcastic sense of humor, and I love how she views and describes magic (Ex from Ep3: “…but magic isn’t proper! It’s _wild_ and _unpredictable_ , that’s what makes it so _beautiful!_ ” - I teach biology and it’s a very similar sentiment to why I love my subject so much)
Moment - Episode 4 (The Intruder), as Eda’s about to scold King for stealing her elixir and he interrupts her to point out Luz drawing light glyphs. As a teacher, King’s line “she did it all on her own” brings a tear to my eyes, knowing what a struggle regular school is for students like her. They often feel like they’re stupid, but in truth they’re not being given the proper tools and experiences that allow them to take their learning into their own hands because the way they learn is different from the majority. I wish I could differentiate every lesson I write for every student I teach, but that’s just not feasible when you’ve got 6-7 classes of 25+ students each and only one planning period a day (that you’ll frequently be asked to give up to cover other classes because of teacher & substitute shortages). The system is just as bad for teachers as it is for students in many ways /: seeing Luz get to express how much she actually loves learning throughout the show & seeing her take to magic like a fish to water because of it just warms my heart

My favorite character is still King. It's not really because of Season 1, but I appreciate his character even in Season 1 a lot more after "Echoes of the Past". And didn't have an opinion on my favorite character before late Season 2 anyway. I'm very excited to see your reactions to what happens with him in Season 2!
Favorite episode of Season 1 is "Agony of a Witch". That episode just kind of blew everything that came before out of the water for me.
My favorite reaction of yours... Not sure. There's a lot of things you've noticed and picked up on that I didn't while watching, so... "I Was A Teenage Abomination" for how you figured out Amity IMMEDIATELY.
Most underrated episode... I think "Sense and Insensitivity" or "Really Small Problems", especially the former. These episodes aren't well-liked, and their quality isn't the best, but I appreciate them a lot more knowing more about King's character.
And favorite moment? I think it's between Luz finding the light glyph in "The Intruder", and Luz and King being adorable siblings at the beginning of "Really Small Problems" I love these two so much they're adorable.

Abt Belos's coven system being a theocratic monarchy. I can definitely see this and the theme of religious leaders who use their power and influence over people to mold the religion they're representing to their liking is definitely there, but as a person from Ukraine (a country formerly occupied by Soviet Union) the coven system really reminded me of communism. Allow me to explain. In the coven system everything is controlled by 1 political system, that being the 10 covens. U r either a part of this system and therefore work for it, or u'll never be accepted by society and will be considered a traitor. That's really similar to the Communist party in USSR. Everyone who wanted to achieve anything had to be a member of the party, but even if u weren't, u were definitely a member of Comsomol. and even before that in school everyone had to be a pioneer. But that's not the main thing that reminds me of communism here. The main thing is taking a natural concept that is a part of our society and was originally meant to battle inequality, but can be bad in evil hands and making it (and people associated with it) public enemy. In communism's case that's money (I know some people don't think money is good, but they were created so that no matter what u produced u could always get what u need from others, a pretty equalising cause) and in Boiling Isles's - wild magic. It really did remind me of that a lot. And the further political structure shown in s2 reminds me of that even more. Not to mention the Day of Unity, which can both be read as smth religious and as the coming of true communism.

For the "leave a light on" bit... it's actually a little disappointing to learn that that's apparently not an idiom in Spanish the way it is in English. How do I put this? I guess... it's like Luz wasn't really speaking Spanish, she was speaking English translated into Spanish words. Or maybe that's a common thing with bilingual people? I dunno.
