Thanks for turning us on to this type of fishing Tristan. My wife and I have been going out almost everyday here in Northern Illinois and are slaying the Sunfish!!!! At least 30 in 2 hours everytime. I am used to catching big Pike, Walleye, Lake Michigan Salmon/Trout (20 lbs) but something about this little fish setup is so satisfying! You feel everything. After a little while it seems like the fish are attracted to your fly because you get a bettter sense. We bought the Goture Capella 12' 7:3 kit and are so completely satisfied. Less work and more fun! Thank You. Gonagain mentioned fishing in their videos and I suggested that you and them should get together so they could learn how fun this is. We met them last year with our camper while traveling through Great Falls after our trip to Glacier (wish we had these rods at Two Medicine). Thanks again and keep putting these videos out.
I’m from Nova Scotia so I’ve never seen these Yellowstone Cutthroat Trout, but they look really nice, Rey similar to the brown trout here. Beautiful stream, and very well filmed. That was a really enjoyable video thanks. Glad you didn’t meet any grizzlies! Way to go , buddy
Yes, Rainbows have now been planted worldwide. Native to the Pacific Coast of North America, they are also know as steelhead, when they migrate to the Pacific for maturing. A great sport fish.
I have seen, I think, the majority of you tenkara fishing videos, and I have learned a lot. I've enjoyed every single minute of them all. Absolutely fabulous job. Keep em coming 😊
It’s always great when you can catch wild natives. What a great outing. Like another comment said, nice intro. One request, can you put a picture of the flies you use or at least the main fly of success? You stated what it was but I am always curious about color variations. Thanks again.
This rod is my first tenkara rod. It was on sale temporarily for $28 and it seemed like a great place to start since it is fiberglass. Hard to break and soft/slow by nature - so a more natural evolution from my fiberglass 1wt fly rod. I have never tried another tenkara rod but this has been an amazing rod in my opinion.
Something I’ve been thinking for a while now is that it would be really cool if there were a spreadsheet or something that listed which videos each rod had appeared in. I think that would be really interesting and useful.
I've thought of it too (along with organizing the videos by state), but it would take time to compile all that, and so it would probably end up being a paid perk for channel memberships-and I currently don't have channel memberships, so it probably won't be anytime soon. But it's on the to-do list eventually!
The most annoying thing about this channel is how Tristan stops on odd numbers of fish caught. I'm glad he did the right thing in this video and caught one more.
Great video! The zeno comes in two iterations, the 9ft and the 10ft, I bought the longer of the two for my buddy and got it rigged up with furled line and tippet etc to get him started and frankly, I didn't want to let it go! It's a significantly more robust rod than the one you fished with a comfortable cork grip and a fairly heavy overall weight. Thanks for the content, it's one of my favorite Saturday rituals!
I always appreciate the candor and clarity of your rod reviews. Beautiful creek, but that phrase “grizzly bear …” country? I’m glad you had a good, safe outing. Oh, and thank you for an episode that features a native cutthroat. A great video - many thanks!
Brown trout season opened here a couple of weeks ago. But the temperatures are not very nice to be bothered going out. Windy, cold and wet. Yorkshire England 🏴 I just looked up that rod. It’s £61.75 Over here. So around $70.
I don’t claim to be an expert fisherman. But I do like the ultra light rods from Eagle Claw. They aren’t hiking or pack able per se just fun and inexpensive to catch fish on.
Great review! Good to know you also use Aventik rods. Been an Aventik tenkara user for almost 2years now. I have the Zeno S2, IM12 & IM12 Pro, and the Pocket & Pocket Pro. All very good and very capable rods. Durable, efficient, sensitive and best of all its downright affordable! And your fishing spots are also very good. How i wish i'll find some here in Newfoundland. As well as someone else tenkara fishing here too.
@@TenkaraAddict thanks! I picked it up based on your review in the video. Never used one and caught 2 rainbow and a native brookie in a span of 30 min, rod is great!
Last year I bought an Aventik Zeno S2-Glass Tenkara rod as I wanted something with a very soft action similar to my fiberglass fly rods. It was the same price at the one you fished in this video. I picked up the 10' 10 section version as it had a cork handle. I returned the rod w/out fishing it. It was very tip heavy compared to my other rods. (flyrods, no-name Amazon Keiryu rod, and Tiny Ten 2) I could tell that I would not enjoy fishing the rod.
Tristan has achieved true tenkara enlightenment, and is able to fish anywhere throughout the spacetime continuum. Seriously though, how cool would it be to fish in the future? You could do one pass on the creek to figure out where all the best fish were, then wind back the clock and fish it a second time knowing right where they were. That big one that got away? Reset and try again as many times as it takes to land it.👍
The way you started this video introducing yourself, where you are, your equipment and goal is how you should start every video. Will give you greater credibility and will encourage more viewers.
HI TRISTAN 👋 THAT WAS A GORGEOUS STREAM / AREA ❤CLARITY LOOKED REALLY GOOD ! GLAD NO GRIZZLIES ! NORMALLY , WHAT SIZE FLIES DO YOU USE ? ALSO WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TENKARA RODS & DRAGONTAIL TENKARA RODS ? THANK YOU, MADE IT LOOK LIKE FUN ❤ GREAT VIDEO FOOTAGE 📹 BE SAFE ☺️ 🙏 HAVE FUN ☺️ 🙏 ENJOYED ❤GOD BLESS YOU ALWAYS ON YOUR ADVENTURES ❤ ☺️ 🙏
It is good that you found a creek full of native cutts instead of small brookies.
Could you share the line that you were using, and the fly that you were using. You normally do those and I missed that on this video
On my haven't caught list, sweet! You sure brought the beauty of fall fishing out! Wow!
It was a beautiful day of fishing, for sure!
Nice netting between those two logs. 🎣

Yah, now I have three of these rods! It really is an obsession!
I'd rather be fishing in the rain than working in the sun

Cutts are closely related to Rainbows.
@@Willburden ok thanks. Rainbows have made there way here…..basically over last 40 years.

Thanks for watching!
I’m in Texas. Heading to the NW in May. I’m looking forward to trying Tenkara after watching your channel for over a year.
Nice! You'll have a great time 👍
An excellent day on the water. I had a feeling that after landing #11, you'd go for the even dozen. I would have. Well done. Thanks, and enjoy.

Great to hear that you liked it too! It's a great rod for the price.
great vid..I just wish he would talk more about the rod ..thats why I loved your comment and thanks so much for the great info I'm gonna get one
@peterama4591 glad I could help! Great rod at a great price, it also comes with a spare tip (last two sections I believe).
Another great video. 1 more month and I'm back out there in WI.
Nice job! Enjoy your adventures on and off stream thanks for sharing
That is a nice stream in the Rockies!
I really miss Wyoming
Great video
Tristan thanks for the video and Happy Easter 🐣

Grizzly bear country is best country!
What fly line do you use or recommend? And tippet?
Those were some great looking fish, thanks for the video.
Great video again! Tenkara would be perfect for the creek I fish after work most days. I need to give it a try.
Cant wait to get out there...thanks for sharing,...cheers!!!
T you kave a keen sense of where the fish will be your very good at reading the water
Just ordered this as a backup rod. Awesome video, as always, Tristan! Can't wait to use this in Michigan's UP.

Yorkshire England 🏴
I just looked up that rod. It’s £61.75 Over here. So around $70.
Can you say what kind of boots you use?
When you mention how long a line you are fishing, does that length include the tippet or just the level line?
Have you ever pursued the Wyoming Cuttslam?
I don’t claim to be an expert fisherman. But I do like the ultra light rods from Eagle Claw. They aren’t hiking or pack able per se just fun and inexpensive to catch fish on.
Like always another great video
Fish on!☺🎣🐟
What do you keep on hand to be prepared, in grizzly territory?

Can I ask which version of the Aventik Tenkara rods you like the best? Zeno/IM12's? Also which lengths you have?
Thanks in advance!
@@kaiser00hans The IM Pro Nano 9ft works best for me for travel.
The Aventik Nexus tri-zoom for my all-around go-to rod.
@@herphermits I am considering the 9ft versions of either the Zeno or the IM12. You consider the IM12 pro to be the better option?
@@kaiser00hans Zeno is fibreglass, flex might be too soft for your taste. IM12 is carbon graphite, so it's more fast actioned.
@@herphermits Thank you very much for your insights. I would tend to agree it looks pretty soft.
What kind of line are you favoriting on the 9ft IM12?
Enjoy your videos, but I gotta ask...what do you carry for protection, not only from bears, but for the lions as well?
Bear spray. I've only seen one mountain lion ever in the 20 years I've been seriously adventuring.
I’ve often wondered about the possibility of running into bears while you are fishing and hiking. How do you prepare?
do you recommend this over the goture capella?
Yes
@@TenkaraAddict thanks! I picked it up based on your review in the video. Never used one and caught 2 rainbow and a native brookie in a span of 30 min, rod is great!
A little more back bone would certainly help but you did good none the less.

Those Aventiks are better than some so called tenkara rods.
That could also be somewhere in Europe
Filmed in October2024?

Um, that's how I start most videos.
@ppacal1098 uh, Tristan has over 38,000 subscribers, meanwhile, you have zero. His credibility is just fine, thanks. 😅
