I love how you keep uploading videos and featuring all these incredible places. I'm not sure I could even fish a place like that, I would be too busy just exploring and admiring it. So beautiful.
definitely interested in seeing how you tie your level line. I would love a refresher again on your entire setup on your favorite knots what line you use all that kind of stuff is super interesting to me!
Tristan, please make or include a video of your Level line making process
Will do!
@@TenkaraAddictThank you very much
@@TenkaraAddict, same here...
I'd love to see that too!
was looking for this comment hahaha, but yes it would be so helpful
I would to see your level line setup. Great video again and what we have come to expect from your adventures. Love those cut throats.
Thank you!
I second this comment. I'd love to see your level line setup. Preferably before the melt to make use of it all year. 😁 Thanks for the great content!
Tristan I have similar taste in rod flex for the same reasons you mention. For me It takes more thought and effort to present flies how I want with stiffer rods. And keep fish on. Like you, I like to almost forget about the rod and just put the fly where I want. That makes a very enjoyable day for me anyways. I'm looking forward to possibly seeing you trying some of the newer shorter rods coming out now, that are aimed at tighter situations. It'll be a good few months + before my leg heals enough to wet a line, so my wife and I are vicariously fishing through you haha!! Thanks a ton for sharing with us all! Enjoy your day!
I’d like to see a video on how you make your lines.
Noted! Thanks for watching.
Wow, these cutthroat were just beautiful, and that last one was a beast! I've been fishing with a spinning reel my entire life, even fishing for trout in Colorado as a kid. I remember catching cutthroat in the streams that feed into north fork reservoir, and thinking how beautiful they were compared to the rainbows. Watching your videos has made me want to try Tenkara, and maybe get back to Colorado again to fish for some trout. Cheers!
Rainbows are beautiful, but you're right, there's just something special about cutthroat!
I've been waiting to see the fishing videos from your "scooter adventure" that include Washington. Hoping to see some stuff from Kettle Falls to Republic as I've fished that stretch several times.
Thanks again for the excellent content and comments.
*And yes, would like to see your method for setting up your level line.
I actually didn't fish at all on the scooter trip-didn't take any gear with me. I went to Washington 3 times last year, and this was on one of those trips 😁
Yes I would definitely be interested on how you make your level lines. Another great creek and video. The colors were fantastic. Thanks again for the channel.
Tristan, you’ve been at this for a while now, and I for one would like to see how you’ve evolved in your overall approach to tenkara fishing. I know you used a Yonah pack at one point, then a vest - how do you carry your stuff now? And the lines, of course, including how you store them for carry. I’ve tried several different line spools and don’t like any of them, so I’m curious where you ended up. I enjoy your fishing videos so much; it’s time to go behind the scenes and show us what happens before you make the first cast of the day. Thanks for the many hours of entertainment you have given us; I’m sure I’m not the only one who looks forward to your Saturday videos!
Thanks for coming to Washington. Glad you had some luck. Those fish were beautiful. Yes on the line tying!
Great video, I've just started using level line and I would like to see how you make your level lines.
Thanks for the feedback!
Tristan, I would love to see your line rigging methods to include knots, etc. Thanks!
The best fishing and location
Amazing fishing and nature views 🐟👍🌻
Hi Tristan. Great video again. Really enjoyed it. I hooked and landed a 15 inch smallmouth bass today with my Nissin Kawashi 360 after an epic fight. Those smallmouth's pull hard. The 2 Temu "temkara" rods arrived yesterday. They are marketed as "Bamboo" rods/ 46%carbon. The 270 model arrived broken.. The 360 model is like spaghetti.. LOL. Oh well. I also have a pretty stiff tenkara and I find that using a "tapered style" leader works way better on it than a level line. .45mm to .35mm to .30mm.
This is glorious my friend! I’m jealous.
Gorgeous Westslope cutties! Love to see it 😁 makes me dream of nicer weather. Meanwhile here in Utah I try to fish one of my local streams in the middle of winter and get totally skunked 🤷♂️
What an amazing little creek, and what beautiful cutthroat trout! Add my vote for the line set-up video.
You should fish the upper Entiat the next time you're in WA. I fished it during the Plain 100 Endurance Race, beautiful creek with beautiful fish. Water so clear you could watch them rocket from the bottom of 8' deep pools to hit my fly. Talk about suspense!
Amazing how much experiences/opinions vary. Small streams, especially tight small streams I prefer a somewhat stiff rod, helps landing larger fish and getting a solid hook set with little movement, even on small fish. A rod (foxfire) that is too soft in my opinion requires an exaggerated hook set, and could get you in trouble with vegetation.
I also find very soft rods that are supposed to enhance the feeling of small fish do just the opposite. The rod is so soft that you never truly feel the fish as it doesn't bend enough to get to the backbone where the sensitivity transfers feel to the hand.
whats rods do you like for small fish?
@@RequiosWoW My favorites are the Wasatch Darth Quattro 5:5 or 6:4. 6:4 if the water is really tight, and will mainly be bow & arrow casting. The other is the Dragontail Mizuchi if the water opens up in spots.
@ I have both mizuchi and DQ 5:5, and I like them both! I agree
Nice to watch your videos, its the close season for trout in the UK at the moment, but looking forward to using the tenkara rod in April.
Another great day in the outdoors, with a happy ending, to boot. Thanks, and enjoy.
Thanks!
I’m going to the Olympic national forest in may for a bachelor party. I’m gonna try to get away and get after it with the 4wt one day. Nice video!
Fun! I love fishing small streams. I'm in W. WA so the Cutthroat that are in virtually every creek/river are some part of the population of Sea-run Cutts. Most go to sea, but they might just decide to remain resident, which keeps fishing fun 'cause you never know what you might run into The juvenile trout are almost identical to the adult form of the Westslope. For me though, I think the Rocky Mountain Spotted Cutthroat is the most gorgeous of the group. If you've never chased Redbands in the small creeks of NE OR, I highly recommend it.
coastal cutthroat. what I call mountain trout are my favorites. heavily spotted. I know a few creeks that they are almost a separate subspecies. souther Oregon here.
Oh dear, this is a must watch, He came to my home state!
Such beautiful fish in this video!
Damn was that argentine folklorico music at the beginning? Love it.
Beautiful clear water
Great fishing day 😊❤
Beautiful stream 💜 nice fish great job catching them 👍
love this channel
I’ve fished a lot of those mountain creeks in Washington. I’ve never heard of brown trout being in any of them. There are some brookies, bulls and rainbows along with the cutties, but browns generally need more fertile streams to survive. And that 12 incher at the end there is an absolute hog for those type of streams from my experience.
I don't have a Sharpshooter but I do have a Baby Rodzilla that I enjoy. The 8' length works great on small streams. Beautiful cutties!
Wow Tristan glad you were able to snag those Cutthroat trouts today with a pole you don't like!❤😅
Just because I didn't like it doesn't mean I can't fish with it 😁
Welcome to the Pacific Northwest hope your having a great time here
Way to hang in there bud those were some beautiful trout 😊
Complimenti ottima pescata 👍
Tristan, some of us new to Tenkara fishing would appreciate learning how to tie your level lines onto your rod. Also have you fished with indicators and weighted nymphs? How do you fish streams and creeks with sunken logs and tree limbs? Keep those great videos coming.
I have a video of this if you are interested: How To Fish Rivers With Tenkara #tenkara
ruclips.net/video/3zn2e6qtlU8/видео.html
I've never fished with indicators, but I have fished with weighted flies. As for fishing streams with sunken logs and tree limbs, it's just the same as normal fishing but I get snagged more 😄
The first time I went fishing in Washington the first fish I caught in a creek like you were fishing was a cutthroat. The rest were rainbows. When I compared the picture of the cutthroat I caught to the ones you were catching it was definitely a cutthroat. I thought it may have been a cuttbow.
I fish mainly warm water and the bluegill and bass both tend to bulldog for cover. I prefer softer, read 6:4, rods but could use something stiffer to play them with. I have a Nissin pro square two way that I Honestly worry about when the bass hit. It's held up nicely though every time!
Gorgeous cutthroat. Curious rod choices - suspect robustness, zoom feature, and ease of access to cheap spare parts must be high on your priority list when on extended SUV RV travel. Thanks for sharing your trip on the peninsula!
All tenkara rods are robust enough for travel, IMO. And access to cheap spare parts is never a bad thing in general, but on a trip like this it doesn't matter so much because I have about a million rods with me.
Let's see that level line video!
Looks like hard work in all those rocky pools! Do you get snagged up much? Some beautiful fish in there.
I would be very interested in how you setup your level lines. In particular what size level line you prefer, the knots you like to use and If you use tippet rings what size? You could also include your opinion on level lines vs furled lines.
In perfect conditions I prefer the casting feel of level lines but find the furled lines especially dragon tails Katana and Tachi furled lines perform better in windy conditions. As I’m sure you know in the western high country we rarely get a windless day and even the nice days can be filled with gusty winds out of nowhere so more and more I find myself going to the furled line just for its versatility.
8:48 Please do make a video of your level lines!
Would be very interested in a video on your line making process. Thanks.
I would like to see your line set up as well. Thanks!
Yes,I would like to see how you tie your lines as well. Thanks…
Off of the Quinalt River.....past Graves Creek....
I'd love to see your level line process!
Are you going to get to any coastal cutthroat trout? I wonder if you tried for any sea runs
Hey, Tristan. I really enjoy your videos except for one thing. Why don't you ever keep anything? I'd be frying the heck out of some of those bigger trout!
You must be in western Washington this is where I live and that terrain looks familiar
Just wondering if you have ever caught a green back cutthroat I caught one out of thousands and thousands of fish and I was fishing at about 8200 feet in Kebler pass crested Butte, Colorado 25 years ago
Another great little stream . Always interested in how other anglers set up their gear , so yeah , we would enjoy any instructional videos ! Thinking seriosly about picking up the Foxfire or the Wildwater Shorty Zoom for a couple of tiny overgrown creeks . Probably will be using size 20 or 22 flies for very small bluegills . Any preference between these two rods ? As always , really enjoyed the video 😎👍👍
I would really love to see how you make your level lines. I am very new at tenkara , let's be truthfully honest about it I am new to fishing.
Please show us how to make a line. That would be great. Thank you.
👍
Hi Tristan. Can you recommend any companies in the UK that make decent Tenkara rods?
Tristan, what is your standard line size, and length?
Would love to see how you do your lines.
Yes please. Vlog your level line make technique.
Tristan, Is this Cutthroat part of your Western Native Trout Challenge ?? Would you share which Fish you decided to use in the Challenge for each State ? Thanks, Destiny
No, I completed the challenge (the second level of it, I think?) like 5 years ago. I was one of the first to do it and I think the first to do it with a tenkara rod. I don't remember off the top of my head which trout were in which state. I'll have to dig that up and share it some other time.
@@TenkaraAddict If you get a chance that would be awesome.
When I saw rainforest I thought that you had snuck south and east to the Jocassee Gorges.
I was thinking the second curry was the same as the first because I think I saw it swim under that rock when you left it go
How do you find streams to fish?
If like to see how you make your level line.
i Love fast Rods most all of my trout rods are fast i do not own medium trout rods .Everyones taste is Different Haha.
How can we get access to your video on setting up your level lines?
I haven't filmed it. It'll be live on this channel when I do.
Please come fish SE AK! very many coastal cutthroat and dolly varden
Those appear to be coastal cutthroat, not westslope
That fish is what we call bait
Please add my voice to the request for a video on your line making process. Thanx buddy
You should show the markings on those cutthroats throats a little more closely
Those fish look like salmon smolt.
Quit your crabbing! Get on with the show
Like your videos but don't like that you don't identify locations.
