- I this video I show you and give you my thoughts on the Harbor Freight Pittsburgh Fluid Siphon Pump - I tell you about a precaution in buying this and the return policy on it that I was told when I purchased it
I bought one at Harbor freight but what I did was modified it.
I went to a local Home Depot and purchase clear tubing. Then at a 99 cents store pickup small hose clamps. I had some scrap metal tubing and inserted on each end of the pump outlets. Install the clamps.... done.
I pumped out transfer case fluid. Did both my front and rear differential. Made my life easier for the most part. But with some simple modifications can work. 4 years still working. And if it breaks just get another.

It's easily worth having. I pump transmission fluid out through the dipstick tube with it. You can pump out oil from a small engine too on equipment that is difficult to drain properly. I recommend that you duct-tape the hoses on the pump because they pull out too easy as you pump it.
I will try your suggestion but I just found it was not working for me

I've used mine for changing oil in a snowblower and pressure washer. Both are tough to drain without making a mess. I also pumped out 6 diffs (3 Jeeps) and it also worked great for that. None of the diffs were leaking so there was no reason to pop the cover. Anyway, I worked great. Well worth the low price.
If it works for you then great.......for me the one that i got simply failed
@TheHomeHandyman what failed on it for you? Maybe I missed the part when you discovered the anti syphin issue in your car
they wont take it back because it will have gas on it ( in it) considered a fire hazard...that is why they dont want you to bring it back into the store
Think it will suck out transmission fluid?
I speculate the reason they will not take it back is due to people who use it, figure they will never need it again, and want to return it. Yes it is only $5 bucks, but there are some cheap unscrupulous people out there.
Just got one today . $6.99 cashier never said anything on returns
Gas is not good end up with friction in the pump something oily will work

Maybe but it would not work for what I bought it for and I have no need to try it on water or oil - point is I probably should have bought a higher quality pump for my use - will it work on water and oil ? Maybe but you get what you pay for so lesson learned

Its only 6.99 with tax!! It works ok.

@@TheHomeHandyman probally was a return to the factory and not the store.
Those pumps are junk, I have had two and they both took a crap the first day. The pump handle is threaded into a plastic piece and it strips out easily. The o ring that seals the pump swells with gasoline and will also mess it up.
Dont waste your 6 bucks on these crappy pumps
I agree and thats why I say I threw it out ............ didnt try to take it back just not worth it to me
Yep, this just happened to me too. Right out of the box! I tested it in the sink and it ran fine, but when I used it in my turtle tank, it made a funny noise and just burnt up! Straight out of the box! didnt even last 60 seconds! commie chinese junk to say the least! Made in America is the way to go!
You seriously are gona complain about a plastic $6.00 or $7.00 item🤦♂️😂
