    You should check out Tsunoda if you haven't. Even cheaper than Fujiya but still great quality.

    I have several size Cobras, the diagonal cutters, and the hose clamp pincher pliers from Knipex. The quality is top notch. Don't have any Fujiya. I do have the Engineer brand of screw extractor pliers. Word is Engineer (also made in Japan) actually makes the Vamplier screw extractor pliers. They work great also as you know.

    • @TonyTheTechnician
      @TonyTheTechnician  3 года назад

      Very nice. Great choices and yes engineer makes the vampliers. Engineer pliers are a little cheaper but don't carry a warranty like the vampliers

    • @iramorales71
      @iramorales71 Год назад

      They are the same. The extra or added cost is just for the "warranty" thing. Japanese already charged in advance for the repairs or replacement. It's just like you're paying an extra cost for the insurance.

    Love my Knipex Cobra’s, I also have some Tsunoda 8” needle nose,
    8” Duck Bill, and 5” flush cut zip tie cutters. LOVE the Tsunoda pliers too, but haven’t tried the Fujiya yet.

    THANX. That was very helpful. Was building some power supplies and wanted to pick up some new cutters for the 18 gauge and finer wires (lot of miles with small cutters working on sub and ship circuits, so appreciate dependability).
    Too many decades (beyond mere years) in to remember what brands we used in the electronics shops, but they gave us good mileage, whatever if was SAM bought us.
    P.S. Have a drawer full of Knipex tools I value enough to include them in a manual I'm assembling for my wife, in event of my demise, so some ass doesn't convince her fifty cents is a good deal on that caliper/plier/. . . ., for her.

    good comparison. Have not seen any Fujiya pliesrs in my area yet, Knipex are at menards and on the tool trucks. I watch a Radio Tech from Germany on you tube and all his pliers appear to be knipex his shop is very well equiped with top grade equipment. Keep the videos coming.

    Cool which brand (long nose) when you close the jaws has no gap, the jaws are parallel and which can be used to bend quite thick aluminum or quite thick wires (not crazy thick but quite thick)?
    God bless.

    I've been using Knipex since they came out with the pliers wrench in 2007. They have changed the design of this particular tool at least 3 times. The original 2007 version had the best fit and finish. The second pair I bought was the same functionally but extremely poor fit and finish relatively. The 3rd pair and the one they put out now has a wider jaw opening so some added functionality but still lags the first pair in fit and finish but well above the second pair. The 10 inch is the sweet spot in my opinion and has the most crush force for some reason. I use them for bending sheet metal and making wire crimps among other things.

    On the general subject of Japanese tools, have you had any experience of Ko-Ken sockets and ratchets? I got some 1/4" and 3/8" sets this year, and the ratchets are probably the smoothest I've ever used, despite having low tooth counts - this is apparently because of their pawl design. Check 'em out if you get the opportunity!

    I. Wish knipex has a black out tools

  • @friendswithben6437
    @friendswithben6437 2 года назад +1

    That coating is most likely black phosphate. It's a similar coating in nature to black oxide - neither is inherently rust resistant, as neither constitutes a sacrificial coating nor a water barrier. However, both offer rust resistance via a porous surface that can retain oil, which does form a water barrier. Black phosphate is a higher performing coating, because it is thicker and can retain oil better (generally speaking). So, while it may feel worse, it's better for longevity than black oxide.
    Chrome plating (as you see on most tools) is even better, but will stop working on any working faces as it wears off. Oil your tools!

      I have 3 sets and they have been great. I have the vampliers but if you are interested buy the engineer they are cheaper and the same Tool. Engineer is the actual one who makes them. Vampliers is just the us based seller of them and your paying extra for like a 3 year warranty.
