It was a suicide, the man knew what we was getting himself into when he didn't pay Boba Fett and he knew that he was going to end up killing him. he had nothing left to lose he didn't have any money he didn't have any Imperial Glory didn't have his wife or his ship. All he wanted to do was see her one last time before he died.
What I find kind off funny is that the box itself seemed to of been made of gold so if he sold it that would net him a few hundred credits it also belonged to a fallen "hero" of the empire possibly adding on a few extra thousand credits of value add the fact that this will increase his infamy and make it so that people would be less likely to try and back stab him I would say this rather profitable to him not at that moment but in future people will remember to pay him handsomely or join their marks
Boba's actions here make me respect his character more. Most bounty hunters would probably have left him to rot in his sorrow or kill him much more violently. Boba gave him what he wanted and quickly. At worst he was rather annoyed about this for wasting his time for little pay.

The star destroyer was Scuttling what was left of it. From what we saw the databanks were still working, Imagine if the rebellion or Pirates could get into the system and download the latest codes and troop movements from the system. Plus all the scrap and Ordinance that would be salvaged.
