I find that the DJI Osmo Pocket and Pocket 2 have a much better camera than the GoPro Hero 8 and Hero 9. I had used both GoPro Hero cameras in a test. The video quality was anything but good. There was a lot of blurring and noise. Other settings, such as 2.7K or 1080p, were also unsuccessful. In the same test, I also had the two Pocket cameras. But there you have real 4K. No image noise, no blurring and the recordings are not split every 5 minutes, as is the case with the GoPros. The battery in the Osmo Pocket also lasts longer than in the GoPro. I know that the GoPro is an action camera and the DJi is a gimbal camera, but nevertheless the GoPro should also record in the quality that is stated on the packaging or on the website. Unfortunately, I had extremely blurry images with a lot of noise in every video and things got even worse in ultra wide angle mode.

Nice comparison, do you feel any difference in the shadow recovery when underexposed?? Also is does the osmo pocket 1/2 a good tool to complete the video took with your xt4?
Automatic exposure works very well on both, so I don't have much experience with shadow recovery on either. D-Cinelike captures more DR on Pocket 2, so that is the best option.
I've seen your iPhone 12 Pro vs Pocket 2. I would be interested to see how big the difference is between the iPhone 12 Pro Max and Pocket 2. Have you thought about comparing them in a video?

Thank you so much Sir! This is the best review ever seen! Very good job done here. A fair review with evidence. The only disappointing factor is the short battery life. i hoped the DJI will use the battery capacity like of the smartphones.
Is the Pocket 2 allowing users to specify other bitrates than 100mbps? Like for example 80mbps, 60mbps, 30 etc. This information is VERY important for me, because I intend to purchase a Pocket 2 and a DJI Mini 2, but I am very hesitant. Why? Because all my footage shot with the Osmo Pocket 1 @4K 60fps 100mbps bitrate, was impossible to edit on both my Windows PC and my Mac. I was unable to edit my footage, it was dropping lots of frames on playback and it was impossible to scrub. In the end the only way I could edit my clips was by converting them first to 4K @60fps 60mbps with HEVC encription using Handbrake. After conversion editing and scrubbing was very smooth both on PC and the iMac.
That is very strange, h.265 HVEC requires much more processing power, due to higher compression rate, h.264 requires much less processing power, so the issue might be elsewhere. I think that there is an option to lower the image quality, which decrease the bitrate, but those will be the same options as with the original OP.
Hello! I have a problem with the Osmo Pocket 2 and I do not know how to solve it. In the editor. When I cut a video, I notice an unwanted sharp sound (clack) between the cuts. This happens in 60% of cases. do you have a solution? It only does this in the videos I have written with the Osmo Pocket 2 and not with the other cameras ...
Do you find that the Pocket 2 gimbal is more prone to vibration at its extremities? Mine seems to go into vibration pretty easily especially tilting to the left?
@@TheHybridShooter Hmm, maybe I need to get in touch with DJI about this. I have a Pocket 1 and never had this issue either. Thanks for getting back to me.
Thanks for the nice comparison. I have both too, but did not have the time to play around with Pocket 2 too much, yet... soon something to come. Cheers from LA.
What a great review and a good case to own both to do different video types, and until they make a lens attachment to narrow to 26mm, then there is a potential for both. Come to think of it some one should make an attachment to increase to 26mm like they did with the wide angle.
Well, 11:42 I have to say I prefer the Osmo Pocket picture on the right over the Pocket II with Zoom on the left. There are some other examples in this video showing less barrel distortion with the Pocket 1, and maybe some better colour grading out of the cam as well... For my taste, the Pocket II is a bit overdone for its size. The bigger sensor is not automatically the better sensor.
I only agree that Pocket 1 might be slightly better than Pocket 2 with zoom. Other than that, Pocket 2 captures more detail in every situation. Bigger sensor basically is automatically better at this stage of technology. In this case it is mostly about preferred field of view.
@@TheHybridShooter The preferred field of view should be up to the user, with different lenses. I do not like GoPro-style footage. I do not like bending trees, landscape and bending architecture :-) The smaller field of view is the more detailed for me. That´s why photographers always have a classic 50mm with them. When Canon changed the sensors for cams like SX 200 IS, it was basically not that good anymore. Cheers to wonderful Bratislava from Germany, Bernd
In that case it just isn't for you... A lot of users were asking for wider FoV and I also think that 20mm makes sense as I have explained. I like it as it is, so I wouldn't really change anything. Focal length has no direct affect on detail. I don't even own 50mm lens, it is my least favorite focal length, so we will have to disagree on that :)
@@TheHybridShooter I'm confused you say the image quality on Pocket 2 is better. See ruclips.net/video/u8AaOWgntUU/видео.html - the trees on Pocket 2 are a hot mess. Also comparing the large tree on the left on Pocket 2 to the farther away trees on the right on pocket 1. I don't care if it's "just a sharpening issue", the detail just isn't there. I'm not trying to justify Pocket 1 or 2, I have both lying in front of me and I was shocked by the muddy mess that's Pocket 2. Especially photos. I'm sad because I "need" the higher DR on Pocket 2 for my family videos. I was wondering if I got a potato Pocket 2 but this comparison shows the same problems. It's soft, REALLY soft and I really don't like that.
@@Heahke That is because I accidentally used 4K 60p Pocket 2 footage which has worse image quality than 25p, as you can see at 4:58 As you can see at 4:19 Pocket 2 captures more detail if both shoot 25p.
I'm trying to get used to my Pocket 2 and it has some great potential for video, but I'm so frustrated with its panorama performance. It captures 4 or 9 HD images and then stiches them together into a tiny little distorted low-res composite. I have the DJI Mini 2 (smaller sensor) and when it captures panoramas you get amazing large detailed results. DJI obviously have the SW algorithm to do this in the Mini 2 so why can't we get this from the Pocket 2?
@@TheHybridShooter Thanks for the response. I've tried DJI Media Maker and it stiches them together, but the image is still distorted. It also can't deal with Raw files. I've tried Lightroom, Photoshop and a few others and it's just way too much effort for mediocre results. Why can't it just work like it does on the Mini 2? 😢😢😢
Because Mini 2 has different FoV and low-res sensor which requires only a fraction of processing power... There has to be distortion when you are stitching already ultra-wide images. The whole panorama mode is more or less redundant of Pocket 2.
I have the Scotty Creator Case for my Pocket 2 and the only problem is that if you don't take it out of the case, you're reduced to using a cable connection for data transfer which seems a great deal slower than putting the micro SD card in an adapter and sticking it in the computer.
The price for pocket2 is 2x the old one in my country 🥲, so I bought the osmo pocket 1. Since I dont have decent mobile phone nor decent camera, do you have advice for me to utilize max potential in my osmo pocket1?
Pretty good review - however, I have seen demonstrated in other comparison reviews that the Pocket 2 Active Tracking has some issues when the moving subject is medium to far distance from the camera. In contrast, the original Pocket Active Tracking works beautifully. This was the dealbreaker for me because I need to have the camera follow me. I have the suspicion that using the larger sensor has introduced new problems with Active Tracking to DJI, and they haven't quite been solved - or did they correct the problem in new firmware? If you don't know what I'm talking about, check out Roo's Reviews comparison.
I have already talked about that in 2 videos. P2 tracking works very well if the subject is close to the camera. Ultra-wide lens makes the tracking of the whole person much more difficult and it also emphasizes sudden movements. Tracking performance probably had to be sacrificed because of the ultra-wide FoV. I don't really see a real-world use for tracking subjects far a way from the camera, so I don't mind it that much.
Here in Argentina, used, the pocket costs 800 dollars. New it should be around 1000 or 1200 dollars. The Pocket 2 costs about 300 or 400 dollars more, new or used. So... It would take me about five years to buy any lol
@@TheHybridShooter DJI was always expensive for me, but if I saved three or five months I could buy it. Now, thanks to Milei, they are impossible to reach.
@@TheHybridShooter it would be great if you could elaborate on this: I suspect the sound is better from the Pocket 2, but in fact, I'd like to know. I mean sound is a huge part of "image quality".

...no, but you can use other options that require mounting a transmitter connected to the OP1 : Rode Wireless Go (not cheap but you can use it with other devices).
The Pocket 2 is OK but I am in the process of buying a DJI Osmo Pocket, second hand, because I can get it so cheap. As I am starting out making my own videos there is no reason to buy expensive gear before you learn the process and think about what content you want to produce. The main reason for me not buying the Pocket 2 is that they should have made it a bit larger to fit a bigger battery AND included all the features from the "do it all handle" into the main unit. Excellent review and comparison.

That is actually a mole. It is in most of my videos.
@@TheHybridShooter aah..sorry about that. 😊. i am new to your channel and have only seen two of your videos, both on pocket.
Do you find that the Pocket 2 gimbal is more prone to vibration at its extremities? Mine seems to go into vibration pretty easily especially tilting to the left?
No, I haven’t noticed anything like that.
@@TheHybridShooter Hmm, maybe I need to get in touch with DJI about this. I have a Pocket 1 and never had this issue either. Thanks for getting back to me.
These videos look nice. The only question I have is have you done any post processing on these videos or are they straight from the camera?
Thank you.
Thank you! Some of the clips are edited, some are straight out of the camera.
Pekné porovnanie. Kto by mal uvažovať na upgradom z Pocket na Pocket 2?
Thanks for the nice comparison. I have both too, but did not have the time to play around with Pocket 2 too much, yet... soon something to come. Cheers from LA.
Hi, DJI Pocket 2 is so lit! i think the best pocket camera :)
What a great review and a good case to own both to do different video types, and until they make a lens attachment to narrow to 26mm, then there is a potential for both. Come to think of it some one should make an attachment to increase to 26mm like they did with the wide angle.
Well, 11:42
I have to say I prefer the Osmo Pocket picture on the right over the Pocket II with Zoom on the left.
I do not like bending trees, landscape and bending architecture :-)
The smaller field of view is the more detailed for me.
Ever since I hear his pronunciation it makes me want to see the whole upload :)
Keep up!)
Very well explained. Thx.
Thank you!
Plzzzz make a review on insta360 go 2 and make a comparison between dji pocket 2 and insta360 go 2 thankyou
I have no plans to review Go 2, sorry about that.
@@TheHybridShooter ok thnx
I'm trying to get used to my Pocket 2 and it has some great potential for video, but I'm so frustrated with its panorama performance. It captures 4 or 9 HD images and then stiches them together into a tiny little distorted low-res composite. I have the DJI Mini 2 (smaller sensor) and when it captures panoramas you get amazing large detailed results. DJI obviously have the SW algorithm to do this in the Mini 2 so why can't we get this from the Pocket 2?
I think that you need the app for proper stitching.
The whole panorama mode is more or less redundant of Pocket 2.
get the case from scotty and never take it out of that case
I have the Scotty Creator Case for my Pocket 2 and the only problem is that if you don't take it out of the case, you're reduced to using a cable connection for data transfer which seems a great deal slower than putting the micro SD card in an adapter and sticking it in the computer.
Good video, beautiful city.
Thank you!
The price for pocket2 is 2x the old one in my country 🥲, so I bought the osmo pocket 1. Since I dont have decent mobile phone nor decent camera, do you have advice for me to utilize max potential in my osmo pocket1?
Not really, it is very simple to use, so you shouldn't need any special advice.
Excellent again. Going to get one.
Great comparison.
Thank you!
Great video man. You made me realize that I have first world problems. I don't need Osmo pocket 2, I should be happy with the first one that I own.
Thank you, although that definitely wasn't the purpose of this video.
I don't really see a real-world use for tracking subjects far a way from the camera, so I don't mind it that much.
how many hour battery will last for these gimbal ?
Here in Argentina, used, the pocket costs 800 dollars. New it should be around 1000 or 1200 dollars. The Pocket 2 costs about 300 or 400 dollars more, new or used. So... It would take me about five years to buy any lol
Maybe it will get better under presidente Milei :)
@@TheHybridShooter DJI was always expensive for me, but if I saved three or five months I could buy it. Now, thanks to Milei, they are impossible to reach.
Is osmo pocket worth buying in 2021 for a beginner vlogger?
Pocket 2 is much better choice for vlogging due the to wider FoV.
Which has better IQ? Pocket 2 or Osmo action? Thinking of getting either 1 for vlogging.
Pocket 2
@@TheHybridShooter it would be great if you could elaborate on this: I suspect the sound is better from the Pocket 2, but in fact, I'd like to know. I mean sound is a huge part of "image quality".
@@komandagleby_GB Yes, it is better.
@@TheHybridShooter but in some other review handheld op1 sound better
Pocket 2 definitely has better audio.
Think i can shoot football games with this
I got the original. The second has some nice improvements, but overall I don't see myself wishing I had it over the first.
Great video I have lots of different cameras I still use my flip I have a Samsung GoPro 4 and 5 DJI drone with this video I think I'm going to make my wife mad and go to BestBuy and buy one of these I don't get a lot of views on my RUclips but I do anyways I like the video stuff thank you very much well done
Hi!
Can I use the wireless mic with the Pocket v1? 😁
No, that is not possible.
...no, but you can use other options that require mounting a transmitter connected to the OP1 : Rode Wireless Go (not cheap but you can use it with other devices).
Yes
The Pocket 2 is OK but I am in the process of buying a DJI Osmo Pocket, second hand, because I can get it so cheap. As I am starting out making my own videos there is no reason to buy expensive gear before you learn the process and think about what content you want to produce. The main reason for me not buying the Pocket 2 is that they should have made it a bit larger to fit a bigger battery AND included all the features from the "do it all handle" into the main unit. Excellent review and comparison.
What's different between pocket 2 and 3?
Great upload good job 👍👍
There is no pocket 3.
Thank you!
@@TheHybridShooter 😂🤣😂🤣
Thia ia exactly the same camera, its just the buttons and some options are added on
Absolutely not, it shoots completely different footage, it has different sensor, lens, FoV and so on...
@@TheHybridShooter I have both , and you barely notice any difference. DJI are good at milking consumers.
How can you not notice huge difference between 26mm and 20mm FoV? Those aren't even remotely similar.
čudujem sa že tu neni ziadny slovensky koment :D inak super recenzia :)
Ďakujem pekne!
Makes you want to buy stock in the company. In about two weeks, a bunch of us in the states will be thinking of this when our checks start arriving. Then it will be who to buy it from that won't leave the package on the porch to get stolen.
DJI stock prices depend a lot on geopolitical situation, so I would be very careful about that.
Amezing. Please make a video about osmo action vs pocket 2
I have already made comparison with Hero 9, so I don't intend to compare it to Osmo Action. It is possible that I will make One R comparison.
@@TheHybridShooter ok thanks and more thing pocket 2 has high quality mode and power saving mode. I heard that high quality mode comes with lots of issues like heating issue and all.
I only use high-quality setting and I haven't had any heating issues at all, but it is winter here....
@@TheHybridShooter Thxxx for the information ☺️👍
Your videos really helpful.
i loved your video
Thank you!
Why Osmo Pocket is more expensive than osmo pocket 2?
Is isn’t.
@@TheHybridShooter in Saudi Arabia, it is. Lol. Thats why i'm confused
You should probably buy elsewhere if possible.
Beautiful country
Active track on that pocket 2 can`t keep up like the pocket 1. Thats pretty odd...
That is because of the focal length, I explained that in P2 FW update video.
They works equality well with a subject close to the camera.
Good video! I recently bought the DJI Pocket 2 and recorded the latest video to appear on my channel. I don't regret buying it. 🔥
