Good morning Becca! Your family room looks so inviting! Blue is my favorite color and I use a lot of chinoiserie in my home also. It’s a classic. I’ve been decorating for the fourth. We live in Faith,NC and our little town celebrates the holiday in a big way. It kicks off Saturday night with our annual street dance. Then the 28th starts our week long celebration with rides,food and music in our park each night and then on the 4th there will be a big parade and fireworks that night. We live two houses off of Main Street and we can sit on our front porch and watch the activity and listen to the music. Come on down!! I have always mixed metals...I like tarnished silver , bronze, brass, copper, and definitely color. My sofa and chair are dark navy blue.

For your other bookcases, IKEA sells white and brown hole plugs. You just pop them in the holes! We used them in our bookcases, closet shelves, and cabinets. You can also buy them online in different sizes for non-IKEA furniture.

Hi Julie! To be honest, I bought in to the trend a few years ago where everyone started painting their windows black. And, while we loved the look, I really missed the crispness of the white (just fits my decor style a bit more). I will always love classic black doors ... I'm sure whatever your daughter decides to do will be gorgeous!!
