- In this HVAC training video, I show how to install a First Company air handler coil. First Company slant coils can be tricky due to the tight space you've got to work in. I hope this video helps you if you have to install a First Company air handler slant coil.

Gotta love that first company engineering. Love the vids and glad to see somebody who shares my view of the apartment maintenance trade. Here's to changing the stigma of the nasty maintenance guy who can't cut it anywhere else.
Right on bulk! Thank you so much for watching!
Thanks for the walk through, it was a great refresher. I haven't done an evap side Braze like that since trade school, 5 years ago. It's been mostly outdoor unit and package unit problems. Thanks for taking the time to do this vid man. Greatly appreciated.
You're welcome Jeff! Thank you so much for watching!
I was checking out your vids this morning! Thanks for the shout-out. Your vids are great too bro! Good stuff!
Whoa, hey Walt! Thank you so much. I love the Earl Nightingale stuff you play, too. Him and Jim Rohn have been my teachers for 6 years now. I just listen to their material over and over and read their books. Thanks again Walt! You're awesome!
Good job on that removal and install of that evaporator, you need a raise after that job. Thanks for sharing the video!
Good to hear from you Phillip!
Ol lex still saving my ass after all these years your the goat bro thank you!!
Right on Juice! Thank you so much for watching!
Nice repair man. RUclips police will always show up eventually though no matter what you do lol. You got it done though and saved a $1000 in labor or more rather than contracting it out. Hope your company takes care of yo u bro I wish you were on my team :)
I got the courage to do the TXV's after watching your txv change out video. 😆 Thank you so much Dave! Go Noles. NC State this weekend. 🤞
Welcome to the First Co world. I deal with 264 units with RAQ 3 systems that are 20+ years old. Replaced 2 heat exchangers this week and 4 Taco circulation pumps (keep those on hand). Hopefully your mild winters are better for those systems, here in Utah we run heat about 5-6 months every year. I personally think aquatherm systems suck in places with hard winters. They kill water heaters.
Right on thanks for the tip Cass! I'll order some Taco pumps and keep them on deck. Thank you so much for watching!
I feel the same way
they should be fed off a boiler, not a water heater. although that will work way down south where heating is minimal, but still not recommended.
I learned to do refrigeration for my restaurant got tired of paying people to do it. I like bought some of those spin swaggers and love them and I use the cool gel too I love that stuff spray it where ever and it cleans up easy.
Thank you so much for watching Mike!
Love the A/C vids.
Good to hear from you Danny!
👍👍. I like your style “Dirty Maintenance Man”.
Thank you so much for watching Mike!
Those coils though- sheet metal is too close to the coper and causes electrolysis - I swear they build em to leak man- you do good work brotato
Thank you so much for watching Rick!
Yes Walter on WW HVAC is a great tech !
Thank you so much for watching!
Thanks for the great video. How long did the replacement take?
2.5 hours. Thank you so much for watching Taylor!
Ain't nothing more satisfying than doing a complicated multi step repair successfully. "Its a boy" 😆😆
👍😆👍 Thank you so much for watching Christov!
Awesome full length feature film!
Thank you Joe! 🤗
@@LexVance you gonna get good doing this repair copper coils no bueno in that new apartment building with all the chemicals off gassing. I can’t believe it’s 1600 bucks
Great Video Lex- If you can remove the core valves when pulling a vacuum is better - Quicker and more effective
Thank you so much for watching W!
Great video bro keep up the great work and keep them videos coming
Thank you so much for watching Solo!
That's ''Snot'' a bad brazing job at all ... Lol... Good vid Sir Lex-A-Lot ... Your a pro as well ... And yes Walt's the man ...
Good to hear from you Eddy?
You need to get a flexible ceramic or mineral wool blanket to thermally protect everything around where you are brazing. Also, use Staybrite 8 to reconnect to the line. Lower temp to melt, and just as strong.
Thank you so much for watching!
A piece of aluminum works nicely on keeping the heat/ torch flame off the insulation.
Right on. Thank you so much for watching Brian!
I use the outside cover from a condenser, that curve cover is perfect..
I wish you had some Magic Pacs and Comfort Packs out there. I have a few hundred of them in my complex and it sure would be nice to see some videos on working on these things - videos with tips and tricks to make it easier - if it can be made easier. Had to replace three heat exchangers in wall sleeve mounted units yesterday. Every fall when people begin turning the heat on, these units rear their ugly heads with the flame rollout which is almost always an indication that the heat exchanger has to go.
Right on. Here in Florida, we have about 3 weeks of winter. 😆 Thank you so much for watching Bruce!
Whatsup lex, what's the hvac tech you named in this video, regarding compressor changeouts, and coil replacements. What's his channel or website
His RUclips channel is WW HVAC. His name is Walt. Thank you so much for watching Casey!
Nice job! Did one yesterday.
Right on Luis! Thank you so much for watching!
You're a great teacher with this one. Btw don't you think it's about time you bought you're wife some new mits 😂
👍😆👍 Good to hear from you Scorpio!
That old TXV goes in the scrapity scrap bucket.
Right on! Thank you Texas!
Good job air handler
Thank you so much for watching Keith!
did you change the filter dryer I thought they should be changed every time the system is opened up
goodman has it hidden inside the outside unit
Yep, it's inside the unit. I definitely do it for a compressor change and have videos of me doing them inside the unit. However, since we couldn't get refrigerant easily and were running low I decided to pump it into the condenser and leave the filter drier since it would be isolated. I also gave it a good vacuum to below 300 microns. If the refrigerant wasn't on backorder and we had plenty I would've recovered and did the filter drier. Thank you so much for watching force!
Hi I have a First Co Slant system that was installed in 2017. What is the life expectancy of either coils.
On the property I work at the coils started leaking after a year. It varies now days. Some last 6 months while some last 20 years.
@@LexVance I think First Co needs to be slapped with a Class Action Because if they are making coils to fail by causing electrolysis. This is absolutely a reason this company needs to be investigated. Lex I have had preventive maintenance done on unit since it was installed like having the coils cleaned and other checks of unit. So even doing all that preventative maintenance these coils could still fail.
@@walterlewis1029 Yep. I have a year old property where all 200 of them are leaking. We're slowly replacing them and I'm documenting it with video.
Hi Lex I just found my FirstCo system has to be completely replaced Firstco needs to be investigated and sued out of existence!!!!!!!
Hey BROchaco, another good one!
Good to hear from you Paul!
some of the youtube police are just trying to save you the headache of clogged TXV, after brazing schmutz decides to take a siesta in it :))
😆 Good to hear from you throttle!
Honestly your company should have a vendor come out I hope you getting paid very well
Thank you so much for watching Lu!
I read the caption and felt a itch crawl up my back
👍😆👍 This is the 3rd coil I've done in 6 months. Thank you so much for watching central!
Keep up good work 👍
Thank you so much for watching Andrey!
Four months later, that’s a first for me shit the ones on our property were running out overnight. In some cases you cut the sniffer on and the moment you walk through the door of the home weeeeeeeeeeee….
Dayum! 🤣
I'd leave the old one on and save the new txv for when you come across a bad one...easier on you! All about completing them orders on time and fast!
So true!
Good job 👍🏾
Thank you so much for watching Pernell!
I do HVAC work for a living I wouldn’t say that if I didn’t know for sure either
I haven't seen every video but I enjoy his step by step coil and compressor replacement videos.
Plumbing tip for AC guys...Oscillating tool with fine metal blade will cut copper in tight places.
Thank you so much for watching Plumber!
MY UNIT HAVE A WEIRD SWEET SMELL ONLY WHEN I TURN ON THE HEAT DO YOU KNOW WHAT IT COULD BE
The drain pan may be dirty and needs to be cleaned.
Nice content
Thank you so much for watching Levi!
Salvaging and reusing a used TXV is like doing an oil change using old oil. You're there, do it right.the first time. Or be prepared to do it twice.
So true! Thank you so much for watching!
If your wife ever watches this video, you are so busted...
👍😆👍 So true! Thank you so much for watching Cameron!
Did you change company or still working for the same ?
Same company. I got moved to a sister property. Good to hear from you Zues!
You may have to add little pound of refrigerated
What brand of leak detector do you use"
Fieldpiece now. I was using a Bacharach h10 but it's at the other property. Good to hear from you Pops!
@@LexVance Glad to see you are still doing videos for all the new guys come up in the field. I did 30 years and over all I liked it.
How much is a skeetker leg exactly?
🤏
Thank you so much for watching!
These coils always seem to leak in the bottom right corner for some reason
It's crazy! I have over 200 first company coils leaking on my property. Thank you so much for watching Texas!
DO YOU HAVE TO REMOVE THE COIL TO SERVICE IT
Not if you can see the leak and can fix it. If you can't see the leak then yes you'll need to remove it.
If you just want to clean the coil then no you don't have to remove it. Just spray the coil cleaner on it as the directions say.
Where can I get the oven mitt? 🤣
👍😆👍 your local grocery store or Walmart. Thank you so much for watching Johnny!
That coil looks like micro channel.
They're a nightmare. 😭 Thank you so much for watching Terry!
TXv sometimes gets clogged 😭 should save it! Lol
Right on. Thank you so much for watching Braulio!
smoke alarm, did it set off the whole building of alarms? :)) whoops, if so
Just the apartments. 👍
Side job Magee says.I would not do it that way I would replace the whole AC system
👍😆👍 Thank you so much for watching Caleb!
@@LexVance Happy late Thanksgiving skid bro
It has hot water heat in it also , you would have to drain the boiler etc
the air handler is 2 years old , this is covered under warranty
Àlway sand copper high low side made easy solder
Man, all these AC videos, are you still a service tech? Or HVAC? 🤣 It's 30° here.... I'm pretty well done with AC repairs for the year. I'm painting a unit as I type this. Heavy smoking unit, just got done wiping walls down, now I'm starting my first coat....
Here in Florida, it's ac season 11 months out of the year. Good to hear from you Chris!
@@LexVance That's wild. I couldn't imagine not having a winter. It dropped down to 28° last night. It was cold
Àlway save core use train purposes
My illegal alien maintenance men haven't been able to fix my ac in 5 years. Its 2am right now and won't cool below 83 degrees. 😢the aparapartment manager will not call a third party technician to fix it for some reason. Then they ask me why am i late on my rent after paying a $400 utility bill for a 600sq ft apartment. 😖
I hope everything works out for you. 🤞
Replaced txv and not use old txv
Right on!
Egg salad ?
Just making memories. 😆
Do the job correct, no beauty points. In and out.
So true! Thank you so much for watching!
