    Bloke did a rather brainfarty run of Division 3 of the Cabin Fever Challenge 2024 with his CZ 600 Trail. After we'd finished, he did another run without the time / competition pressure and it went a lot better!
    Please note that the bolt handle has been modified, which makes it Much Better...

    It's a pleasure to see someone working the bolt in a soldierly fashion. So many youtube videos show someone shooting a nice rifle and then they spoil it by splitting working the bolt into three or four separate actions and take several seconds over it. During which time an enemy might have shot them, or at least they wouldn't have been ready to fire if necessary.

      @@geezerp1982 What does this have to do with America, both Bloke and myself are British and he lives in Switzerland? As for Bloke not being a soldier, that doesn't negate the fact he's trying to demonstrate how to use these weapons in a soldierly fashion. And if anyone starts screaming at me (on any subject), they'll be told to stop screaming and go f*** themselves. If they want to discuss things they should do so in a civilised manner.

    Such a small group for such quick technique
    It's damn impressive that there are any hits in the first place, because I know damn well I would've missed those at a much closer range.
    Went shooting at 50m and managed to miss by 2 feet somehow. Fixed the issue, but even then the group wasn't anything to brag about

      @ntheRange You need to be able to do it without a scope at 300 yds. Its less about speed and more about groupings within certain parameters although you have to get 15 rounds away. Those that achieve marksman status are smooth on the bolt and tend to group < 8 inches at 300 yds. Its nowhere near as easy as it sounds.

    • @BlokeontheRange
      @BlokeontheRange  4 месяца назад +1

      Grouping < 8" at 300 yds with 15 rounds in 1 minute from rifles that were expected to group into 8" at 200 yds is impressive indeed lol... XD
      BTW the highest scoring zone in Practice 22 (the 15 rounds in a minute exercise) is 24" at 300 yds ;)

    Semi autos won't be much faster in this course of fire.
    Also, since you were never a big fan of the tucking-the-thumb-forward-at -the-side shooting, I assume you only did it in this case to reduce the delay between shooting and cycling the bolt.

    • @BlokeontheRange
      @BlokeontheRange  4 месяца назад +4

      My semi scores were quite a bit faster, have a look at the full video.
      I'm using the thumb-on-the-right (using the safety lever as a rest / counterforce point) as a compromise between middle-fingering and holding the pistol grip properly. It's more stable than middle-fingering but less stable than holding properly, and faster than getting on and off the pistol grip properly but slower than middle-fingering. On my scoring run I was all fingers-and-thumbs and all over the place on what I was doing with my right hand.
      My general skepticism with the thumb-on-the-right thing is that 99% of users seem to be smoking the copium about it. Either claiming that it gives better trigger release (lol) or that it's faster, which it is, but then they are so slow to the bolt that I'm wondering what they think slow looks like XD

      @TheOz91 4 месяца назад +2

      @@BlokeontheRange I will check that out, then.
      I have a friend Stateside who is training to be a US Army sniper. It seems that they do teach soldiers to be fast with the bolt as there are drills where they transition between targets and quickly. They do the thumb on the side thing with their Mk22 MRAD, as they like to do, but they are taught to bolt quickly--while shooting .300 Magnum nonetheless.
