The wolf is our friend Riggs from Roam Sanctuary in WA! 🐺 He is the sweetest big boy 🖤This movie reminds me of Into The Wild, I look forward to seeing it
I just finished the first season. As an ultralight survivalist hiker, this film resonates with truth, sincerity, and originality. The characters were genuine and interesting and the story was engaging. I have experienced so many highs and lows on both the Pacific Crest Trail and John Muir Trail, yet the one constant was always the kindness of strangers. This film is a cinematic masterpiece on every level. The music score and breathtaking cinematography of the indie series outshines most Hollywood productions. Please, please, please do a second season. Hopefully your storytelling will inspire many young people to explore the wilderness, make deep connections with other people, and challenge themselves outside their comfort zone.
@@lillypatience I don’t want to spoil the massive cliff hanger ending for anyone here. Watch it again. Read it carefully and you will understand fully. As I previously said, this show really needs a season 2.
@@PhoenixGenesis a website did a write up on the ending. Their explanation doesn’t line up so wanted to know your take since you seemed to enjoy it. I did not enjoy this show at all.
@lillypatience in the end she shows that her parents had passed away. "RIP" in the comments section. She took this hiking trip to escape and clear her mind and learn to be literally on her own. Idk what number she gave social service as a contact if she died they didn't show it (but social worker gave her advise on whatever services she may need that is available for her should she need it. No need for season 2 as we learn she can fend for herself in the wild, she can fend for herself. It was a life lesson and journey she bravely faced head on. It was good. And I watched it while playing games on my tablet, as it's not a complicated character storyline type of movie, just a good chill out Saturday afternoon on my recliner movie.
I thank the trees around my home for standing tall through Hurricane Helene...And then this pops up on my feed. 😅 Ok then....The trees and plants are living creatures too. 🌳🐿️
Just finished the first season and OH MY GOSH this show is AMAZING 🙌🏻 one of the best shows I have seen in a very long time. Please please please make a season two 💗💗💗
“forget what it is you are escaping from, reserve your anxieties for what you are escaping to” Bernard Kormblum, The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay
It is Unique for sure, But as for Realistic... Not so much, a little girl hiking in the forest, never getting really dirty and muddy and wounded as hell, it reminds me of those really old westerns, where the cowboys were super clean wearing white hats, and their hair was always perfectly jelled ... Plus, "nice message" to little girls and to Predators walking on two feet.
Just done watching this, pretty slow and ending is freakin sad I think it’s her fault of what happen to the Mom and Dad Please to all teens out their do not do this, if you want to live in the woods ask Mom and Dad🙄 or wait until you grow up then buy a Cabin in the middle of the woods alone but still safe and you won’t hurt the people that care about you🙄
we don't know what happen to her mom and dad. The theory is that her parents were already dead and that is what lead her to doing what she did. The problem is this doesn't explain the first few minutes of the show. Unless she was traumatized by her parents death that her mind still believe they were alive when she left.
@@ZefirkaOduvan No her mother texted her. But did she really text her or was that all in her head because she couldn't deal with the loss of her parents.
You're so quick into blaming. Thank God you can't reach Penelope, or else you'd traumatize her for life. We all are responsible for our own decisions, don't blame anyone outside of yourself, or else, you're telling us you're someone else's puppet.
@@Eustace__Bagge I politely disagree. I have a very nice home with nice things and a family and friends. However, I take virtually nothing - going ultralight with a 22L backpack and with 8 pounds of gear - on the Pacific Crest Trail to challenge myself several times a year. You learn about your strengths and weaknesses while also meeting interesting kind people with whom you have memorable experiences and true human connections. This series captured that perfectly. Nature has a way of bringing out our best versions of ourselves if we let it.
@@PhoenixGenesis look, the only thing i can extract from what you're saying is that you're part of the exception. well, good for you but the exception is not the rule. and you know what, in a reality where people all around are getting kicked out to the streets - it's easy to understand why Hollywood would start promoting idea's that make homelessness acceptable in the mind of the public.
@@Eustace__Bagge I do agree that the WEF is pushing the propaganda of “You’ll own nothing and you will be happy” combined with the reality of homelessness I see growing day by day in LA area where I live, but this series does not promote this. It was about human connection and sharing and paying forward. There are so many examples in the random kindness of strangers that help Penelope on her journey. I have experienced this same trail magic with trail angels countless times myself while hiking in the wilderness. In turn, it makes me want to help other people. Like when she sees the old man alone chopping wood and wants to help him. All I can say is take as little as possible, go on a spontaneous trip somewhere and meet people. Really listen to them, understand them, care about them, and it will change your life in so many profound ways.
But not start random fires and learn leave no trace principles. Learn how to be safe around wildlife and how to keep THeM safe. I’m an avid hiker and backpacker, been doing this for years. Please learn before you go and protect our wilderness.
This is one of the dumbest movies. But what do you expect from Netflix these days. A girl goes camping alone in the forest and survives all the elements and a bear attack on her camp site. Then like every politically correct movie on Netflix these days, her being a white girl, comes across three boys (black, asian, & white) and of course she falls for the black one. At that moment I was done watching it.
That is pushed everywhere constantly. Division and trauma to the masses. And women are much easier to manipulate into going with the general concensus. Meaning that type of programming works really well.
Many people seem to struggle with the ending, and I'm unsure if I fully grasp it or if I'm overthinking. Here’s my perspective: the show isn’t just about a kid surviving in the forest or teaching younger generations about independence. When I first heard phrases like "trees are social beings who depend on the other trees" and "you gotta find what you can trust and you follow it," I sensed deeper lessons at play. I believe the show helps Penelope-and the audience-realize that being alone is an option, but it comes with consequences. The main takeaway is that while we have freedom, exercising it requires us to accept the results of our choices. The actor conveyed emotions effectively, and the story was well-structured from start to finish. I also think the producers intentionally downplayed the chaos of Penelope's journey to keep the series light. I recommend this series to anyone looking for life lessons or just a good watch. My personal rating: 9/10. ps: I love how "Into the wild" was mentioned in the show. It's one of my favorites and I think this show is the best story aid for that movie. Everyone say : Thank you Duplass Brothers🫶
This show has absolutely zero plot points or motivations. Just a dumb kid going into the forest , with a bunch of encounters that would lead to police being called but never happened. Garbage show, even my wife who’s into girly shows couldn’t stand this cringe fest .we shut it off halfway into the second episode DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME
