I'm not her, but I recently heard about "The Four Agreements" too. I think that if you take it at face value it's helpful and it's been helpful for me. According to what I've read online about it, the author of the book takes it way too far and acts like the four agreements are the key to happiness in life. The author also seems to talk about how you're literally not supposed to take anything personally in almost a selfish attitude, kind of like not considering what happens if someone else is upset. So at face value, yes, it's helpful for me, but the author goes a lot deeper and that's where it becomes a problem in my opinion.
Yes, the book is popular in the therapy world. I haven't read it but as was mentioned, just things to do with attitude adjustment, etc, how we view things.
In my opinion you aren't missing anything. If you read a book and it helps you realize why it's better to watch what yousay, release negative worry and to do your best etc that is a blessing. Sadly when they become pastors they feel they are above anything you tell them. My pastor friend decided in the end that saved and unsaved will enter into the kingdom. He apparently wanted to sin all he wanted.
The answer is God is "I AM" the "alive and active" of the words of God do all the convincing. You do not need to use the "flesh" to convince the power of the words will do it for you.
OMG. This is a book a read before I got saved. I tried to apply its teachings and it worked a little bit. But I was ultimately dissatisfied because I felt like there was something more. Something that could satisfy my emptiness and bring me too peace. When I got saved, I completely forgot about this book.
No one ultimately got saved yet, because there is still a judgement to come, and if you are still alive on this planet then you have not finished the race yet.
Thanks Melissa for these videos. I’m running into some Christians speaking about fasting to release generational curses and opened doors from occult backgrounds. 😮 I’m saved by Christ’s grace so why should I fast to release curses or to close doors. Did Christ not do that when He saved me & revealed Himself to me? From my understanding I was bought with Christ’s blood. I will fast during different times as needed to focus more on the Lord, grow, humble myself, heal, & remove distractions, but where is this coming from generational curses, etc… ? I would appreciate if anyone could clarify this because I was once in new age and this is also sounding like something similar to some of those beliefs.
This is a wonderful video! The encouragement to listen well (to understand) as well as to ask intentional questions is incredibly important! Thank you, Melissa! Btw, the rain sounds beautiful! 💁🏻♀️♥️
I guess I’m not good at this. I have a friend who is now completely sold out to the progressive movement, posting articles from Rohr and others on FB. I can’t help myself challenging him when he says that since Jesus died for everyone, everyone, as in every single person who ever lived, will end up in heaven. Oh and there is no hell so nothing to be afraid of. I’ve told him that I’ll be in prayer for his soul. He calls me an “infernalist”.
I’m looking for the full version of this video it cut off abruptly and never did speak about the 4 agreements which I’m very interested in hearing Melissa speak on.
I was going to ask if you hadn't said something, but as a headphone user I could hear the rain. It's been raining here off and on all morning and I was starting to think I could hear it kicking up.
According to Wittgenstein, there is a difference between asserting a fact in the present and a fact in the past. Yes, you can objectively assert a fact in the present (as long as it doesn't require a judgement - e.g. "This is a good tasting apple"). However, once we try to assert a fact in the past, it's quite a different ballgame - as every historian will tell you. So, since nobody is alive that saw the Resurrection and we only have scriptures (that differ in their narrative) testifying about the Resurrection about 60 years after the fact, entertaining the "truth" about the Resurrection is a compelling exercise, but hardly one which truth value can be objectively be established.
Thank you for this video! I have a couple friends that are reading Rohr. Thank for recommending the book Relativism: Feet Firmly Planted in Mid-Air by Francis J. Beckwith
This is interesting. A few years ago, I was deeply attached to the Enneagram, but didn't get too involved with Rohr's writing. Mostly spent my time reading what other people had to say on the topic. Anyway, I never saw the Enneagram as being particularly spiritual. I saw it more as systematic introspection. And to be honest, it worked. Through the Enneagram, I discovered a few hidden sins I otherwise might not have noticed was there. So, I continued using it for a while, considering it as a sort of tool to help me examine myself as the Bible commands us to do. But if someone had told me all that stuff about Jesus sort of taking on God, I would've thought they were crazy. There's more I can say. But I'll stop here so I don't ramble on for too long.
Ugh! A heavy New-Age friend of mine just recommended this book, and they praised how life-changing it was for them. It was wholly Satanic. I prayed for my friend as I read the book. After, I told this friend the few basic life teachings which I appreciated in the book, and I thanked them for recommending it to me. But I also warned them about the serious errors and cleverly interwoven occultic teachings therein. I recommended that they read Gregory Koukl's book, "Relativism, Feet Firmly Planted In Mid-Air." I don't know if they will read it, or if they are interested in thinking logically, but that was my simple reply.
I have read The Four Agreements and on its face, surface level, it's not bad advice. If you read the preface and the author's notes etc, you see right away that it's a non Christian spiritual, ancestor worship type thing. I tried to read another of his books about his "ancestral spirit guide/vision quest" thingy and I couldn't get into it as is was just too weird and either New Agey, shamanistic, or a hallucination he had. It put me off.

Your gentle Ruth/Esther/Mary spirit (or that way Ruach Hakkodesh/Holy Spirit) has you present/convey things. (Hope how I put that doesn't sound "New Age-ish as I don't mean it so..) Also, as someone who had no problem at all seeing through the relativism of "Progressive" ideas, you are really going into the heart of how Biblical apologetics need to meet it all head on.
Thanks for th info, Melissa! I already have Greg's book Tagtics, but I'll definitely track down the other one. It sounds interesting!
I found the Greg Koukl book you recommended on amazon! Both print and kindle versions!
I had to read the 4 agreements in college. Thank you for this video
Never apologize for rain on a tin roof! I hope we will have that in heaven. ;)
What's the best way to tell Christians that their beliefs aren't real?
❤Blessings!❤
This was good stuff. You produce a lot of content (not saying too much), and i hope your resting well after your labors. "Its a marathon, not a sprint" as they say.
Thanks for posting. Very helpful
The Spirit and the Bride say, Come Lord Jesus...
Thank you for making this video.
Your eye accessing is interesting to watch. Extremely sharp. I can see a trained therapist asking you, "Did someone or something in your past frightened you?" Anyway, you would make a great AI pattern in the future: [organic:, female, Single Reference- safety pattern 1, Fund. Plus 41k views --most simping-- you could negotiate a merch deal as well with the Customer selecting various snide remarks and quips. Just great stuff.
I have a friend who thinks I need to come to her Charismatic/NAR church because they have have fresh revelation. Been there. Done that. How do I talk to this friend without damaging the friendship? I'd love to see a video on that.
I have charismatic friends who use the phrase, fresh word(s). They are very much into the prophetic movement.
Just tell them you're not interested in their witchcraft
@@NoName-rm1nvyou know, Christianity is a spiritual belief. If you’re not having spiritual experiences, you’re doing it wrong. Move any mountains lately?

Where in the Bible does it talk about gnostic beliefs? I read the Bible and I struggle to learn.....to get what you all on youtube get out of the Word. I read in context, I use commentaries and trusted people here on youtube John McArthur etc. Also, so much content in each epi and so many new words, (like you related today) religions/cults to keep up with it makes my head spin!! I often wonder what this will get us in Heaven and I thank God that there is no test.....way too much stuff to keep in my head LOL. Seems I can only manage barely past basics. But I love your channel and ones like Paul Washer, Justin Peters, Doreen Virtue etc. Thanks for sharing and maybe someone in the comments understands my comment and relates. Thanks much for sharing, Melissa😀
Oh! I thought Prolegomena had something to do with being in favor of LEGOs. 😅
Seriously. This is very good. Thank you clearly explaining all of this to your audience.
Not our job to convince anyone, it is our job to share the good news.
That means we aren’t supposed to sugar coat anything.
Thank you
Great video!
There seems to be many churches who don't teach Bible prophesy or even talk about what is going on now with Israel.
so good, I'm currently reading the universal Christ and makes a lot of good points totally fits the panentheism. The idea of the Christ and Jesus coming together in JesusChrist is interesting to say the least.
I love your opening graphic
Sounded like you were gonna keep going there at the end, then BLACK SCREEN. Thought my phone had died for a second 😂
Yeah, it seemed to cut off abruptly. I thought my computer messed up too.
Excellence, Melissa! Thank you💕🙏🏻
The rain sounds nice 🥰
Thank you so much for this! Exactly what I've been looking for in terms of a friend. I'd like further suggestions on how to have a similar conversation with my husband.
I don’t know why but, why is it so gosh darn funny when an apologist uses the gen Z word “SUS” on the thumbnail😂.
I want to hear more about the spiritual experiences and how they are real but not true - is there another video about that? Love Melissa - so pertinent to my situation
Sadly when they become pastors they feel they are above anything you tell them. My pastor friend decided in the end that saved and unsaved will enter into the kingdom. He apparently wanted to sin all he wanted.
Even with a friend, if they want to keep believing, against all wisdom or evidence, all you can do is use the Bible and pray.
Thank you!

Several friends have told me stories of loved ones visiting them. 😮
My sister's have said that & I informed them that's not mom. But then they don't read the Bible either
Romans 13:1-5 are verses that many would reject for cause
What Rohr teaches is an ancient Gnostic heresy.
Every church needs classes on apologetics
This video was good! But it ended very abruptly, was it meant to end so abruptly?
Thank you for this video! I have a couple friends that are reading Rohr. Thank for recommending the book Relativism: Feet Firmly Planted in Mid-Air
by Francis J. Beckwith
Born again? Yes. Born before? Yes. Born more? Yes. How can the first be last and the last be first?
Getty yup!
“What is the source of your experience?”
A good cross reference would be a quick reread or study on Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s the theory of stupidity.
@MelissaDougherty, I do not hear the sprinkling water so the microphone is not picking it up.
Love the thumbnail that says “sus”
I have read The Four Agreements and on its face, surface level, it's not bad advice. If you read the preface and the author's notes etc, you see right away that it's a non Christian spiritual, ancestor worship type thing. I tried to read another of his books about his "ancestral spirit guide/vision quest" thingy and I couldn't get into it as is was just too weird and either New Agey, shamanistic, or a hallucination he had. It put me off.
Unbiblical beliefs? That’s about 90% of all modern churches.
No sprinkling sounds!😂
