I am from Europe and I have never heard of Somaliland. With everything that is going on in the western world, videos like this make you put everything into perspective and see how insignificant some of our problems are. It really breaks my heart to see cultures that are this kind and beautiful not being heard about, learned form. We are being taught so little about Africa and African cultures and it is mainly the bad things that you hear about. You guys are doing such an amazing thing bringing forward these stories. This video has really made my day. Thank you!
Absolutely right, I just feel the exact same !
You’re from uk 🇬🇧 somalia or Somaliland= Somali don’t be fooled by those cry long gone era
Their existence, success, and independence is seen by some as a threat to the status quo and to order. Of course that is incredibly unfair to the people of Somaliland, and ultimately I think this is an evil way of thinking. We should celebrate, recognize, and trade with this nation who has made an island of stability, peace, and trust in an otherwise tumultuous region instead of punishing them for it.
You are from somaliland region, pretanding what you are not , because you said wastern world, instead first world,
Blame the western world for this.

@Nuna Issa Somaliland is not safe whatsoever, that much we can agree on. Whether it is or isn’t a real country is kind of ambiguous, that depends on what you define a country as. They’re definitely independent, but they’re unrecognized, so they have no protection under international law.

Well, b/c they are not showing the ugly side?
Why do you think there is no crime? B/c they would cut your arms off publicly & drive you around the town.
And apparently history of Somala starts in 1884.
Romans were there & probably Ottomans & Arabs. They weren't nice/friendly guys
And the tribal wars....
Slavery was officially ended in 1930th:
"The Italian colonial administration abolished slavery in Somalia at the turn of the 20th century. However, some Somali clans notably the Biimal clan opposed this idea. The Bimaals fought Italians to keep their slaves. Although the Italians freed some Bantus, some Bantu groups, remained enslaved well until the 1930s, and continued to be despised and discriminated against by large parts of Somali society."

From the bottom of my heart I thank you specifically and your team for sheddung light on this topic and I hope this incredible nation gets recognized on the world stage.
Somalia 🇸🇴 is already a sovereign nation, you fool🤡💀. #Arabulwassaq
hi, Hashem, I am Abdy Kany I live in HARGEISA the capital city of Somaliland I am happy to see that this video changed your perception about Somalia in general and Somaliland in particular , I really like this channel they always upload high quality contents
I am from Saudi Arabia, I always thought there was only a Somalia, but I knew Somaliland before this video because of Chunkz and Aj Shabeel
@@abdullahalharthi2429 i'm Somali from Ogadenia, you can google the history of it and where it locates😅 people only know the blue flag and somalia but we're being divided by the colonisers, for example Ogadenia is now colonised by Ethiopia to this day and Saudi and Khalij have a close relationship with Ethiopia lol
@@abdiaden9209 you’re from Ogaden Mashallah I love y’all culture. And the way y’all do the dhaanto is amazing 😂. But I’m from Southern Somalia a village named Mareeray in jubbada dhexe. The civil war has hit us hard and al Shabab even after the war but I hope we can have peace and stability for all of Somalia including Wajeer in Kenya Ogadenia and Djibouti.
Just found out about you and your videos, I’m doing a deep dive, and I love your adventures! The way your picture of the world is amazing and you have such a good heart. You’re generally a good human being and thank you for your videos. Nice to see places in the world that I will never end up going myself.
This is such a wholesome and empowering video. Thank you
As a somalilander u get my respect how sincerely and grateful u r to be our guest.
I'm wanna thank my sister saamiya which giving endless effort those coming to our country and giving an enlightening/ eye opening information about us
Nice name
the people in ur country seem good n honest, why so many countries give travel advisory not to visit then ?
I'm learning more about Somaliland. But I've always wondered why Somaliland is one of the poorest countries in Africa even when they had 30+ years of peace. What is holding the country back?
@@Chopper8472 It takes a long time to build up after everything is destroyed. 30 years will not solve all the issues that exist. Most nations do not build up that quickly. But there’s a lot of progress and I would say we will see some big changes in the next 15-20 years.
@@NawazKhan-ui6eo They say not to visit Somalia since technically Somaliland is not a country but a part of Somalia. If you are worried about safety you should only visit Somaliland.
I lived all my life as in immigrant not knowing my home country Somaliland, I really got emotional after watching your video, showing the beauty of my country and determined one day I will go back and help rebuild it, Thanks Thomas for your video, thanks for donating generously to help those girls and thanks for inspiring us everyday, I hope I can meet you one day and just sit down for a chat.
bro what, what do you mean immigrant
@@mohamedadan3848 obviously they immigrated to a country that's not Somaliland
you guys are so awesome may God Bless your souls for sharing this story of this amazing nation
“We built it back up again” That’s a very powerful inspiring statement 💪🏾
Dr Edna's speech at the end gave me goosebumps. We need more people like her. God bless her!
She is lying tho.
She said Somali don't have Same language and culture, which is completely false.
@@drgarad we have completely diff words in the Somali language, we're the land of punt and the great poets, we own and gave you the Somali language, we have the majority of Somali dances while you have Niko and twerking, and we're the place that introduced Islam in the horn of Africa, we thought you how to be a country yet you slam your absurdity governing wicked customs to us, we have completely different civilizations, so don't tell me we have the same shit

I have never heard of Somaliland despite being an African and living here....wow...their simple, humble and fighting spirit is inspiring ....and thank you for exploring and showing to the world how beautiful we are.
I love that lady so much. She's a strong woman fighting for her country
you've out done yourself with this film, incredible journalism & film making. the people of Somaliland are beautiful, and Samiya is so inspiring!
I can not wait to see the ripple effect the doctors speech has. Her words are so powerful and so moving i just love her.

Somalia and ”somaliland” is the same

Excellent video! I really appreciate the work that went into this production and the wealth of information there in. Thank you!
Somaliland is one of the most peaceful countries in Africa.
Thank you for sharing our country to the world.

Thank you so much. Just watched for the first time your trip to Somaliland and your channel. I am very grateful and appreciate what you did for the school. May Almighty God bless you.
Brother. Thank you for shedding light and teaching me on a country and subjects within it that I could or would have never previously even thought about looking into. I’m humbled by the beautiful people of Somalia and I share my condolences for their suffering. Thank you brother. Thank you Somalia
Absolutely beautiful video, especially the segment with Dr Edna Adan, she seems like someone we need to safeguard, and record more stories of this beautiful country. These are stories that we need told and heard. Many blessings 🙌🏿 🇿🇦
Dr. Edna is a living legend 🙌
Loving this Africa journey, they're all so diverse yet so connected. I'm glad you're deciding to show the world what life is like outside their own country.

Amazing content!
I thank you and everyone involved
Wish everyone in Somaliland many blessings
I absolutely loved this video! I have been to 10 countries in africa thus far (just returned from morocco and egypt last week). I love the vibes that this video captured. As an american, most citizens have no clue on the diversity of africa culture and the landscapes--and this video touched on all the aspects of that! I just subscribed and look forward to seeing more of your videos and gaining more insight
As someone who was born and raised in Australia, this video taught me a lot about my own history and it is amazing to see more people learn about Somaliland, thank you for this insightful video.
