I cannot believe how few have watched this - I’ve only just happened upon it myself and am happy I did!

Couldn't make it to London for this one, but I have seen Bill at the RS before. I have to admit I find Bill Bryson's books a bit of a challenge to read. But when he is speaking I find him captivating and engaging.
Jim did a pretty good job as well
    Nice one guys :-)

Two of my favourite authors in one room. Irresistible!

Brief History of Everything is a history of science more than a science book and that field is very poorly studied. That is why I loved it.

I’ve read it 3 times and will probably do so again. I love it.

I really hated Bryson's first book. I tossed it down and said, "If the bastard hates us so much he should go back to England. And stay there."
And then, starved for something to read in Bandung, Indonesia (long story) I picked up another Bryson book from a free library and am now gloriously addicted to his prose.

Khalilis book “the pathfinders” was a great book and none of the characters Khalili mentions even get a mention in Bryson’s book - short history of nearly everything . Shows you that there is no consensus
The other thing. These 2 wonderful chaps are immigrants. What did immigrants ever do ? Blah blah
