Hey everyone! These soundbytes from Josh are 9 short minutes from a 2 HOUR personality interview that we did with him. I also know him in real life and we also later talked with him for another 4 hours to teach him about his personality interview and how they work. Basically we’ve spent a long time with Josh and that is where INFJ came from. This one video alone is not enough to type anyone. Josh’s descriptions in this video are just him genuinely sharing about his perspectives with no prior knowledge of functions. He isn’t trying to represent INFJ’s or present definitions of Ni. These were just some interesting sound bites from our personality interview that we thought we’d like to share with you all for fun! In regards to him “sounding Ne”, I do understand the confusion. There are a lot of unfortunate stereotypes out there of what the functions look like that we wanted to flesh out. We thought it would be interesting to show that Ni types also feel like they consider lots of possibilities too, and that “seeing possibilities” isn’t automatically an Ne thing but more of just an N thing. In retrospect, I wish I had added in some extra commentary with extra explanation or context to explain the patterns more clearly. We plan to be more careful with that going forward. If you want to check out the full interview with much longer sound bytes in context, you can find it on the website. It’s a really fun interview and in it you can see Josh’s personality preferences much clearer and consistently for yourself. Regardless if that’s the right fit for you, we hope this conversation was still able to help you appreciate and understand others a little better today! Best wishes!
These are probably the most concrete example of the inner-workings of Ni that I've seen in a while! It's honestly special to listen to another Ni-dom who has introspected so deeply about their processes and shared their findings. Because there's so little information out there about Ni, it can be hard for me to identify the extreme nuances between my own functions. I'm already surprised by how much we have in common (as an INTJ). Can't wait to watch the full video. Thanks for this!
I feel like INFJs can become so precise on their inner functioning once they develop their Ti function enough. It helps a lot to convey so complicated things clearly.
Primary lens of the INFJ is NiTi. But that "becoming so precise and clear when they develop Ti". Would be more likely when INFJs dip from NiTi to SiTi for example. Remember in Jung's words Ni is a "irrational" function. It doesn't assign logic or values to anything by itself. Nature of NiTi would be highly conjectural and theoretical in contrast to SiTi. Internal scope of Ni is broad and holistic, while internal scope of Si is more narrow and precise. Like memories for a start, what data has been concretely known and can be preserved through time. What are values that are absolute and meaningful. Si can be much more intense and deep in comparison to Ni, Si-doms would oftentimes find their internal world quite fascinating to explore in.
The primary lens of INFJ are NiSe, the lens functions as Young calls them. I was mostly talking about self-comprehension and accuracy regarding the communication of the internal process to others. Additionally, this would also concern being more precise on predictions and explaining metaphysical things. So NiTi, not SiTi. It's very unlikely an INFJ will ever become good at using Si I think. Yes, I know what Jung says about Ni but people rarely understand the extent of it however. You should know that according to Jung, Si is also an irrational function like all the perceiving functions. So it isn't more likely with SiTi in any way. But I'm sure you know Ti does assign logic by itself however. That's exactly what I'm saying actually, the nature of NiTi would be highly conjectural and theoretical but by basing it upon and confronting it to logical information for more accuracy, just like it would give more accuracy for SiTi actually. Not really, the scope of Ne is broad and holistic when the scope of Ni is narrow and holistic. It's narrow similarly to Si. That's why Ni and Si are usually compared. A main difference is just that instead of using sensory data, Ni uses meaning data that have been known through sensory experiences and will always be preserved through time. Also the values that are absolute and meaningful. No, it's just the same and as deep and intense as Ni can be really. People who have met actual INFJs can tell about the intense insights. You probably wouldn't believe it but Ni-doms will usually find their own internal world fascinating to explore as well and probably spend as much time exploring future outcomes. It doesn't really make sense to evaluate one compared to the other because that's just two sides of the same coin at the end of the day, the past and the future, the abstract and the concrete, just like Ne is for Se actually.
@@kyurei4478EXACTLY. In other words an explanation of INFJ is more understandable than that of an INTP, let's say. There is always a sense of urgency, gravity, certainty and conviction.
@@ferventbrawn Well, it's true that INTPs aren't typically focused on being practical. I would say most INFJs are probably better than INFPs, INTPs, ENFPs and ENTPs in that regard in general cause they're a bit more. Now INTPs are still very logical individuals so I'm not really sure.
It's sometimes difficult for someone with NI (I'll put it that way) to separate physical reality from the mind, because the internal experience is so meaningful to him or her.
3:58 Wow! What a poignant example of highly developed Ni; showing us others non-Ni dom’s that still use plenty Ni how it’s REALLY done: Where he starts with seeing a picture behind the interviewers, can envision a context, then it expands all the way to him envisioning an entire book! Thanks all 3!
Really interesting! I mostly resonated with him, except for when he said that he spends so much time thinking that he never _does_ stuff, and he needs to remind himself to get out and _do_ things. I'm the opposite - it's easy for me to just _do_ stuff, but I have to remind myself to stop and look at the bigger picture... which would make a lot of sense, since I suspect that I'm an ENTJ.
Interesting indeed. When it comes to PERSONAL stuff, I would put it off until the last minute, when it is actually life or death. Like getting a haircut for example. I really hate how my hair looks when it is freshly cut. I would then wear a cap for two weeks until it grew out on just the perfect "growth". And no, cutting it on this length to begin with won't work either. It has to have grown out. LOL. But when it comes to other responsibilities asked of or imposed on me, I'm actually efficient. I have to do it first before doing anything else. But it is mostly with the mindset of "the sooner I can get this done, the sooner I could get back to my Austrian Alps vacation daydream". LOL.
I'm an INFJ, and I don't like making tough decisions, but I hate decision limbo more, so I eventually just pick an option and run with it to close the endless loop of back and forth. I'm definitely a doer and completionist, despite spending so much time in my head.
When I listened to music years ago, within the melody my mind automatically created choreography. I wasn't trying, I just can't listen to something without associating some idea with it. And it's exhausting as hell. Seems like sensory simulation takes away from me energy doubled than from people around me. I would be called lazy because I get tired so fast.
Not even recognizing other opportunties ... that was me all of my twenties. And I think w Ni doms therefore take 'failure' much than many other types. Because we have invested so much more in this one vision.
The big yes he said for not seeing other opportunities is because his self is at the lowesr point and he understand opportunities for others and not for him.sorry fr my english
First 6 minutes he was showing Ne, it's only at 6:40 where he explains how he sees the Ne as "useless", the big ball of mush, the "chaos" and then how he post processes it to come to a conclusion. This is actually showing your innacuracy in the assessment you made in the video describing (Ni) that you have to type based on quality and not quantity. If the guy is doing Ne all day every day as a mental process, and he is actually extremely confident at his ability to come up with ideas on the fly to create songs (creative abstract inventions in the moment) and then after 2 months has an Ni realisation, then chances are, actually he's an Ne user. Not arguing against this typing with so little evidence, but it's poor evidence to show INFJ as a type in a video.
