My great uncle was a master engraver, it's so nice to see people still using the old skills of hand engraving rather than say laser work. Working to this level of detail on steel requires years of experience and a lot of talent.
You are a person whp appreciate the difference between human toil and craftsmanship/artistry/patients.
Laser is not cutting into metal, but lightly mark it, using heat.
It needs none of the above qualities.
Engraving is done through human hands, use their eyes including designing and cutting metal to remove it off the body of metal item.
Wheras anyone can use a keyboard for laser.
This lady is a true paragon. She is even working free hand, without first drawing her work. tks
my cheaper knives have stamped on kanji which looks so perfect and boring?, my better knives have these hand engraved kanji, looks so rustic yet full of life

OMG. Japanese people are so serious and polite. That woman avoided eye contact most of the time. She works in a tiny room like a prisoner in a jail without windows. Yet she is very talented and modest.
Sunlight is not always your friend when doing detailed carvings. Most people need a quiet, isolated, and safe space to focus.
