I am loving these conversations and I am not in my 20’a or 30’s
I am a 50 yr old mom who’s a new Christian and wanting to draw closer to God. You guys have great topics that make me think, I need to open the Bible more often. Please pray for me 🙏🏻

Blessings and greetings from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Physical attraction doesn't matter to me. I want someone to be attracted by me because of my inner beauty.

Okay everyone will get less attractive as you age and that INCLUDES people who are already unattractive to you. There is also a marginal group of people (I am one of them) I call binaries. The attraction switch is either on or off and it will not change one way or the other. A person who can grow an attraction to someone will never understand those of us who are hard wired this way. I always roll my eyes when some Christian responds in "Oh well then what happens if your spouse gets paralyzed, deformed, etc....?" without actually checking the statistics on the prevalence of those instances in the overall population. To be sure they do occur but there are not legions of married couples out there where one partner has suffered some horrible disfigurement. I disagree with the old dude and agree with the gal. I think initially attraction plays a very important role in fostering feelings of physical love (the kind of love that makes babies). I had a good friend once who I lost when she began to develop feelings for me. I loved her as a friend. I loved eating food she cooked. And I loved chatting with her at school everyday. I just couldn't see myself having sex with her and that would be the end result of the kind of relationship she had in mind. I totally get sick of the Rachael/Leah comparison that pastors and others make when in reality Jacob apparently never loved Leah and treated her and her children as second class family members to the day he died. Jacob loved Rachael for whatever reason and he didn't love Leah for reasons that were his. And what the heck is this guy saying attraction didn't matter because he ended up marrying Leah??!!??! He was tricked by Laban for crying out loud and later on we see Leah trying to barter for sex time with Jacob by offering Racheal some mandrake fruit. Great relationship eh? This guy's logic is so whacked.
